Villa Maria Taylors Pass 2019 - Typisch NZ Marlborough SB neusje.

Villa Maria zoom tasting (home): Single vineyard from Awatere Valley, colder than Marlborough, closer to the ocean. This single vineyard is released later, 50% Wairau yeasts, 50% neutral years, RS 2.8g/lt, pH 3.34, t acid 6.8
The wine shows slightly lower intensity in the nose than Reserve 2020, lemon, lime, the grass is more upfront, flinty, more peppery/spicy The wine shows high intensity in the palate, again more grassy, high acidity, mineral, flinty, stony, lime, lemon, medium body, medium finish, more “aggressive”, closer to Loire

A strongly aromatic nose dominated by gooseberry, tomato leaf, grass, lemon and a light note of liquorice.
Quite rich and creamy on the palate for a sauvignon blanc. The classic acidity of the variety is present but quite wonderfully enveloped in elegance. A long and lively finish leaves you wanting more.

Classic NZ SB. Lots of tropical fruits, stone, some grass and a little cat pee. Decent acidity. A little flat on the finish. Paired well with food. Very good QPR. Would buy more.

Pale gold color. Aromas of slate, flint, green melon, lemongrass and green bell pepper. Very citrusy on the palate, with a lovely satin texture. A few flaws, overly tart and maybe a bit stalky in the finish. But this type of wine at this price point is why NZ is so deservedly known for Sauvignon Blanc!
At with a mango/coconut salmon...absolutely perfect pairing!

From a site next to the Awatere River on stony and silt soils, this has a fairly intense flinty mineral, citrus, herbal, and lemongrass nose that is a touch creamy on the medium+ bodied palate and balanced with lively acids. Nicely textured and quite minerally on palate with herbal and lemon citrus notes that continue through to the finish with excellent length. A serious Sauvignon Blanc for the table to enjoy over the next 4+ years. Score: 91+ pts

NB....my bottle label detail says "Single Vinyard Taylor's Pass'' Sav Blanc, and is a black coloured label but nowhere does the word ''Reserve'' appear on it.
N....big nose, rich fruit, some Marlb Sav Blanc grassy character sits alongside ripe tropicals
T....more settled than I expected a classy 1 yr old Marlb Sav Blanc to be; good solid sustained fruit flavours, some power, ends med-dry at best. Probably better at 2 yrs old but I wouldn't keep it any longer than 4 yrs old.
