1 hr decant. Anise on the nose. Sour cherry, anise, forest floor on the palate. Lacks pop on the mid-palate. Complex but missing intensity and finish. No hurry to drink it up, but I also don’t see this getting a whole lot better either.

Just a quick note. Since last year's tasting, this has improved somewhat. The color is beginning to be more brick than ruby. Still takes a good two hour airing to open, but the edges are smoothing out. Tannins are softening, acid is still providing a firm ground for the fruit. Nice with or without food.

Bright red fruit burst, hints of anise seed and licorice shining through. Hard to get much else today. Will come back in a day or two. Day 3, this is a special, special wine. Obviously a firm tannic presence at this young age, well-balanced with acidity and fruit, even a hint of musk and dust here. Here’s to hoping there will be bottles of the vintage available in 10 years.

Pine, mint, orange, tar and redcurrant on the nose - lifted well with air, showing even more pretty red fruit and floral notes. Cooling profile to the palate, with bright acidity and lithe fruit. Has a well balanced tannin profile, I think setting it up for good development over the next 10 years. Happy with the value for money here.

Drank after 3 hours in a decanter (this is about the minimum I’d recommend). The color is a medium garnet. The nose has sour cherries and cranberries with a whiff of burnt orange and alcohol. The palate has tart cherries with a medium- body. There are some drying tannins, but a decent structure that will improve with age. A bit young to drink, wait a few more years. Alcohol 14.5%.

Classic Nebbiolo profile, but drinking nice now with a decant. Roses and tar, nicely balanced, tannins/acidity present but not overpowering. For the price I paid at Costco I'll pick up a case and see how it changes over time, no downside.

This was a clean and very pretty effort for 2017. Two other 2017 Nebbiolo I've sampled have been quite roasted and muddied in the flavor profile, but this had more cut and definition. Developed nicely over two days. Ready to drink for my taste, but should be worth following over the next 5+ years.

I drank this after 2-1/2 hours in a carafe. It was just beginning to open. Please don’t judge this wine without letting it breathe for a few hours. You will be rewarded for your patience (in prior tastings, this wine was better the second night). The color is a medium+ ruby red. The nose has red fruit and floral notes with a slight whiff of pencil lead. The palate has cranberry, some mushroom overtones, and limestone. It has a medium body with firm, but not overpowering, tannins and balanced acid. The tannins will integrate with age. Great value for price. Alcohol 14.5%.

Red fruit up front, moving quickly into a dense, chewy, nebbiolo core with earth, pine resin and tar, finishing long on acidity and tannin. Red fruit lingers throughout and distinguishes this one... really good. Day two: Candied orange rind and slight baking spice flavors join the party... YUM.

Drank 90+ minutes after opening. The color is medium ruby red. The nose is faint and has only hints of aromas: red and black fruit, hint of orange, some floral and mineral notes, but nothing distinct. The palate is more prominent having sour cherries, a bit of burnt orange, and some limestone. The fruit and acid are in balance with a bit more tannin than balance requires. It has a medium body and medium finish. An excellent value. Alcohol 14.5%.
Second day was better. It had opened up nicely with more substance to the nose and palate. Probably needs 2-3 hours of air before drinking.

The nose was intense, displaying a mix of sweet cherry and herbs, as smoky crushed stone and spiced floral tones evolved in the glass. On the palate, I found velvety, rich textures, offset by a twang of tart red and black fruits, saturating minerality, and savory spices, all held together by vibrant acidity. The finish was long, as saturating red fruits and spice tugged at the senses in a sweet and sour expression, leaving hints of fine tannin in their wake. In 2017, the Casot is powerful and dense, yet it still manages to color within the lines.

Pnp. Red fruits. Citrus. Pine. Lighter bodied. A good food wine. It’s not really my thing.

Light transparent red. Extremely floral and seductive aromas with some herbs. Soft and delicate in the mouth, with fine tannins. Just lovely!
