Drinking remarkably well at the moment! Every component is in the right position, the colour, the aroma and of course the palate, absolutely singing joyfully at the moment, cohesive efforts! Astounding performance! And I found it this is the very moment to uncork it!

Can't help myself to revisit an old friend of mine! The opaque dark red is always a pleasure to look at while you swirling your little Bordeaux glass! The nose is just incredible, spicy, ripe dark fruits, I sense a little woodiness, of course, it came from the first wine of the vintage 2005, sweet, sensible, long and alluring! Always amazed by those teeth gripping texture! Still young, many years of life ahead!

Not much of a nose and on the palate fruit is lacking. Acidity and tannins in balance with leather, earth, and blackberries in the mouth. Modest length finish and lighter bodied than expected. Good but not great.

Just like meeting a good old friend, this bottle gave me a special experience, quite unique on the nose with a good character of the Pessac-Leognan region, spicy minerality! Still deep dark in colour, smooth palate with mouthful and mouthful of spicy fruits, long finish! Ready to go but definitely no rush if you're persuing for complexity through the bottle age!

I have to admit my slight disappointment continues after nearly another five years of ageing, still incredibly tight and closed, though it's been evolved a bit, still, not shining at all and lacking charm! Dark red in colour, a weak nose of supremely ripe dark fruits along with a hint of unique Graves earthiness, the palate echoing the nose very well, but lacking a bit of excitement and aged complexity at this point, shall I wait? That is the question in my mind! Worth the wait?

Decanted 45 mins. An intense nose showing slight stewed fruits - slightly port like. Palate is ripe with some black cherry, fine tannins and good acidity. This certainly feels like it has reached/passed its apogee and may now be declining. Slightly disappointing vs previous bottles. Drink now.

Decanted 15 mins. I’ve drunk many bottles of this and it’s drinking perfectly now. Excellent nose of ripe blackcurrants, subtle leather and cedar notes. Palate is well balanced with light fine grippy tannins and medium acid to complement blackcurrants and tobacco. Drink now-2020. Suggest only a very short decant.

Fantastic showing from this wine. Leather, graphite, and blackberry were the main features that I found. I really enjoyed this wine, as did everyone I was drinking it with. Think it has now entered a lovely drinking stage. Enjoy!

Overall it's very good but it needs a little more time, perhaps a year or two. It's all classic claret with a cassis nose with some violets. The palate has a tad too much tannin from the unresolved oak which leads to it being a little unbalanced. It has some sweet fruit and it's nice but needs a bit more time. 88 points

Took about half an hour after pouring from bottle to glass to open up. Some cedar, violets, cassis and cherries, with a touch of tobacco leaves and cinamon. A very pleasant wine and eager to please. Very good with deep-fried shredded white turnip in batter, a Teochow specialty.
Decanted 30 mins. Paling at rim. Good nose of truffles, forest floor, ripe blackberries, violets. Palate has excellent balance with fine tannins, medium acidity and an attractive mix of brambles & leather. This wine has really come together now and is drinking ideally. I suggest that it probably needs to be drunk in the relatively near future. Now-2019.

Smoky, cherry, pipe tobacco and earthy scents. The palate is quite charming, slightly rustic on the palate, but there is more than enough ripe fruit to make up for it.

Decanted 1hr15. Light paling to rim. Nose has clear notes of leather, tobacco, blackcurrants & slight star anise. Palate medium + intense - quite firm and still a little tight. Good blackcurrant flavours, with medium tannins (now starting to dissipate slightly). Good acid balance. A little green and slightly dry on the aftertaste. Still needs time to soften out and bring into balance. Drink 2018-24.

Also rather closed down initially but slowly opened up; balanced and elegant nose with berries, cherries, plums, roses, and violets; light and smooth palate with berries, cherries, and spices; long yet rather tight finish with dark fruits and mild spices; overall, 90-91 points; needed more time I supposed.

Haut-Brion & more (Buchery de Bariloce restaurant): Shiny transparent deep intensity ruby colour Medium intensity, developed aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, plum, cedar, earth & chocolate Full bodied, firm tannins, medium acidity, ripe and well-integrated, medium intensity, flavors of blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, cloves, smoke and coffee. Medium length finish.

Time flies! It's been almost five years since I last taste this little wine and it certainly not what I expected for it becomes! Still very youthful! Dark ruby in colour! Nose of dark fruits and spices! Still very closed at the moment and again, very foursquare and unmoved over the past few years! On the palate, dark fruits dominate but lacking delineation!! It will last another 7 to 10 years, but I don't think it will get you excited! I very much prefer the Chapelle de La Mission Haut Brion!

Bebido em casa de amigo. Nota de lembrança.. Ainda razoavelmente fechado. Cor rubi/ granada concentrado.

Didn't even had to decanter. Left it open 2 hours and it was perfect. Wonderful experience of typical balanced pessac wine. After all, there is the haut brion name on the bottle so they can't mess with it. If you have more than 1 bottle, time to open one ...

Not usually a fan of second wines, but this has always delivered excellent quality (although at the price these days I am not so sure about the QPR).
Cool black fruit with reserved, compact palate - very linear and clean with the classic Pessac violets and slate. Really good stuff - if you can get this at £25 a bottle like I did then it is a good price. If you pay today's market price (£60+) then dont bother. In and of itself, still a good wine though.

Appearance: Bright and clear, deep intensity ruby colour, with garnet rims and legs. Nose: Clean, with medium intensity and developing aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, plum, cedar, earth, savory, chocolate and perfume. Palate: Dry, with medium acidity and medium tannin, ripe and well-integrated. Medium in alcohol, it has a medium (+) body with medium intensity flavors of blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, cloves, smoke and coffee. Medium (+) length. Conclusion: Good quality Bordeaux, subtle but elegant. The wine did not have an overpowering concentration on nose, but the aromas evolve beautifully over time. Overall in good balance, with a reasonably intense palate of fair complexity and a good length. Ready to drink now but can benefit from further ageing of another 8-10 years.

Took five hours for this rather young wine to open up enough for consumption. At even three hours, it was still too tight. But when we did drink it, it gave strong hints of the wine it will be. Heavy with black fruit, slightly candied, and very full. I suspect those with the 2006s ought to wait at least until 2012 before considering opening.

A solid 90 in my opinion, defintely in the early stage of evolution, not a big chunky but rather a correct wine, very four-square, quite tannic, at this stage, sufficient amount of fruit, not generous! Drink it over the course of 2 to 2 and a half hours, evolving in a gracial pace, again, a very correct...four square wine, drink it over the next 10 to 12 years of time. Making sure it is stored in damp cold cellar!
