Med bodied Nose: fruit driven, notes of ripe strawberries, some floral notes, forest floor, herbal spices Palate: def fruit forward: ripe strawberries some subtle tart raspberries lingering in background. Lovely right from a chilled bottle, pnp, fresh spicy, with the producer elegantly in the background. Non of that forced semi-carbonic cherrio candy. Day three still pretty on the nose; mild spices, dusty. Kicks an recently tasted Occidental easily right of its feet.

Beaujolais Comparative Tasting (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA): Cloudy ruby maroon; nose doesn't really leap out, you have to dig a little, framboise, sweet fruit and herbs, lighter but there's some good extract; nice drinkability.

Palate w crushed blackberries mixes w spices, herbs and green stems. Nice mineral streak across midpalate. Excellent acids. Nice finish w a bit of medicinal herbs and earth added to the fruit and minerals. Complex. Delicious. Great balance. Lovely. 92+
Tasty stuff. Nicely aromatic, effusive of mulling spices, rose petals and dark cherries with sour-acetic nuances adding interest. Crisp, tangy, clean palate with just the right fruity sweet note. Nice lengthy finish. Just delicious and so easy to enjoy.

Notes of strawberry and raspberry leap from the bottle as soon as it's opened. These are complemented when the wine hits the glass by rose petal, blood orange, and sweet, candied notes.
Light and bright, the red berry fruits carry through to the palette. There's also a green vegetal hint, some acidity and light tannins leading to a mellow finish.
A joy to drink, lots of interesting character in a lighter red.

Pale ruby. Classic beaujo. Such a nice mouthfeel; medium (maybe medium light) body but with mouth coating flavors of strawberry, black pepper and dried flowers; a tart sweetness with a mineral streak. More my style than some of the heavily extracted Morgons.

Popped and poured. Pale garnet color, slightly cloudy. High toned red fruit and high toned florals on the nose. A bit of peppery spice as well. Similar flavors on the palate with some tart cranberry and cherry dominating. Medium+ acid, medium tannin. Not the most complex or vivacious Lapierre vintage but still very balanced and enjoyable. Will see if some additional bottle time helps.

Friday evening in Singapore 🇸🇬 from a magnum. Medium purple Color. Quite fruity on the nose, nice and smoky, black pepper. Recommendable, drinkable now and a great price quality.

Exposive nose of strawberry, which yielded to earthy, mineral and leathery aroma. Light body and color but has enough structure to hold everything together. A great Beaujolais at reasonable price.

Nice Morgon with recognizable fruit and herbal components but it misses depth and and focussed red fruits. Popping and pouring was not the best idea there the wine developed in the glass. Think too young, far too young to cover its price tag. lets see in a few years.

Raspberry and cranberry on the nose. Very light on the palate, too light for my taste. A hint of volatility detracts from the texture. I definitely prefer the riper, richer vintages like 2009 and 2015 which I found outstanding. Time to find another Morgon producer!!

At Hart & Cru from a 3L bottle. Very young. Fun and serious at the same time. Very nice structure, a touch shut down. An earthy floral citrus or aldehydic note on the finish, suggestive more of winemaking than fruit quality. Most likely too young.

A little bit of barnyard funk and tar on the nose that blows off with air. Fresh raspberry and herbal notes on the nose as well.
Dried Strawberry, orange peel, juniper, dried herbs, and cedar on the palate. Great acidity. Can taste the whole cluster on the finish, which adds good structure.
Such an easy one to drink and enjoy.

2019 Marcel Lapierre Morgon was lively and juicy. The youthful Gamay was clear and pale ruby in colour with traces of fine sediments. Freshly uncorked, natural wine farmyard funk jumped out of the glass. With an hour of aeration, the earthiness dissipated, and it opened up impressive aromatics of strawberry, violet and rose, accompanied by subtle mint and rosemary herbs.
The mouthfeel was dry and medium-bodied. The low level of easygoing tannin and high level of fresh acidity made it dangerously easy to drink. There were flavours of raspberry, crunchy bramble, red cherry and liqourice spices in a medium juicy finish. The alcohol level was at 13.5%.
The producer information is neatly summarised on Kermit Lynch wine merchant website. The Gamay vines are grown on gravel and decomposed granite, and are of 60 years of age on average. The grapes are fermented on whole cluster, with minimal addition of sulphur. The wine is matured on fine lees for at least nine months in used oak foudres and fûts. The wine is bottled unfiltered under a wax capsule.

Got introduced to Lapierre through his entry level Raisin Gaulois bottling.
Medium ruby in the glass, almost like Pinot noir in its lightness.
On the nose: a medley of red fruits, sweet spices like cinnamon On the palate: mouth puckering acidity, red fruits in the raspberries sour cherry realm. Hints of cinnamon like the nose followed by a slight earthiness and very fine tannins. Medium bodied and silky.
Lovely wine and great with charcuterie.

Beautifully-balanced Beaujolais. Bubble gum, berries, candy and moderate alcohol on the nose. More structured than any other Beaujolais I've had. Twizzlers on the palate. Excellent acidity and tannins. Nice on its own; wants food though.

This is an attractive medium- bodied Morgon sweeter fruited and less savoury and tangy than most with notes of strawberry and other berry fruit, fine minerals, quite silky texture, fresh acidity (was there even a hint of VA?) and an agreeable bitter touch towards the finish. This is quite elegant but I couldn't help feeling a little disappointment in view of the cult like hype surrounding this producer and the quite high price for Morgon of c.€20. Very good wine though.

Light, med alcohol, dry, high acidity with richness to balance.
Needs decanting. Nose of Red fruit, candy, hay/dry grass, dried baking spices. Taste is fresh, tart, explosive cranberry and currant. Clean minerality and petrichor effect. There is a notewble bitterness that I’m assuming will smooth itself out with some air.

Do not drink without decanting. PnP it had a gross bitterness that ruined the wine altogether. I put it back in the bottle overnight and it was much better the next day. I'm betting a 3+ hour decant will have the same effect.
Nose is strawberry rhubarb, floral, some woodsy forest floor. Palate is light bodied, bright, balanced acidity that lifts the strawberry and raspberry fruit. Finish is more red fruit, some spice, with just a hint of light fruit tannins.
Lapierre is supposed to be the pinnacle of Beaujolais. This is certainly good, though I've had other Morgon that is as good if not better. Maybe I had big expectations, but for ~$40 there's equally good Bojo out there for about half the price.
IMO not one for the cellar--this is delicious now and best within 3-5 years. Drink now with 3+ hour decant.

red and a bit of darker fruits (sour & dark cherry, strawberry, raspberry, lingonberry), a bit floral, a hint of woody spices. a slight bitter note. not the most expressive of Beaujolais Crus, a bit muted/austere with little change after 2 hours aeration. Note to self: do not buy again.

Enjoyed this more than a year ago, developing quite nicely with notes of red berries, moss, forest floor, pine trees with a well-defined mid-palate and a medium finish. This punches above its price point. I can only see the upside from here.

N - no sulfur bottling. Decanted. Now 1h after decant. Aromas of candied, jolly rancher ripe red and black cherries, just ripe plums, herbs, sweet bark and a bit of earth. Palate w just ripe black cherries, just ripe plums, a bit of bubblegum, followed by nice minerals, bark, herbs and a bit of earth Mild tannins on midpalate. Juicy acids on a medium-full bodied frame. Color: medium ruby Nose: tons of dominant, ripe, dark, dusty cherry. Licorice. Dark flowers. With a little time, raspberry coulis and mothballs. Fallen leaves. Minerals and something faintly herbal/medicinal, think chartreuse Palate: medium-high acidity, medium body. Tannins are light but they do exist. Dominated by the primary dark red fruit, with traces of sweetness Finish: medium
Very drinkable wine here, with lots of fun fruit and some herbaceous notes, licorice. I'm sure this could cool down horizontal for a bit with profit, but it's fun right now. Works well with food given the acidity and the body not ultra monolithic. Little bit of alcohol burn

Medium ruby in the glass. Wonderful primary fruit on the nose, even though this is still very young - crunchy raspberry, cherry, strawberry, paprika. Refined palate with a high acidity and moderate alcohol. Long finish. Drink this as a slow burn or leave it to age for a few years. Not as enjoyable as it could be in the future, still lot of green edges.

Two Coravin pours starting at cellar temperature then tasted over a couple hours. Translucent light to medium ruby crimson. Nose has vanilla, lavender, red currant and florals. Palate is tart with good (medium+) acidity, a slightly smoky undertone, red currants, under-ripe pomegranate, lots of lavender and a stony/flinty mineral overtone. Moderately long finish. Pretty prototypical Gamay. My first try of this vintage from this esteemed producer but I found it slightly lacking in depth and texture and in my mind Gamay just doesn’t have the complexity and bright flavors of Pinot Noir. As a result I have never been a huge fan of Beaujolais. To be fair this is still a baby and may be a bit better over the next 5 years or so.

Woweee, this is delicious. Drinking the non-sulfur version. Love the purity, acidity, and gulpability of this. Extremely satisfying to drink. Lovely red fruit, tea, and just a hint of earthiness. Ridiculously easy drinking.
Cru Beaujolais is one of the last great values in wine, and Lapierre is a great producer. This wine will age, but why wait? Drink now for it's fruitiness. Well balanced.

Easy drinking, fun wine, but not plain. Aromatics were interesting, very fruit driven, but with a touch of minerality and spice. Good length. Versatile with food. Not sure this is meant to be kept. After some disastrous experience with a case of 2015s, I‘ll earmark these for early drinking.
Quite enjoyable. Good color and nose. Initial takes of strawberry, cranberry, and a crisp watermelon finish. Good balance and nice acidity. Kermit Lynch notes in their April 2021 newsletter: "The domaine's flagship bottling, crafted from vines averaging sixty years old from a variety of sites across the Morgon appellation. Inviting aromatics, succulent flesh, juicy finish..." An "N" on the back of the label means no sulphur added. Overall, this is a pretty wine and fun to drink. Enjoy now and for the next few, maybe five years, perhaps longer.

Unfortunately only got to enjoy this out of little teeny tiny wine glasses at a friend's place, so I didn't quite get the full range of expression from the wine, but it felt pretty much exactly the same as the 2018 for me- beautiful, bright and definitively crunchy red fruits, fresh raspberry, twizzler pull n' peels, some watermelon sweetness on the palate with a cool minerality that helped balance the bright acids. Maybe a little less of that interesting "ashy" or earthy quality than the 2018, but probably would show more from better glasses. Very stealthy tannins that provide just enough grip. These are starting to creep closer to $40, maybe a little high, but it's really excellent QPR around $30. Was especially enjoyable as the wine we started with was an Apothic Red.

Nose of red currants, cherry, mild spices and roses. Slight spritz, deep raspberries, red cassis, slate, granites, stone, light soil, and mild bitterness on the finish. Could use more time for better evolution, but it’s hard to get my hands off these.

This is a very nice fresh, fruity but balanced wine.
Cherries, redcurrants and a slight spicy note on the nose.
These follow to the palate which, after the wine has a few minutes air, finishes with a coating of fine tannins on the mouth and, yes, as someone else said, a hint of menthol.
This is a very easy to drink, light wine. At ~US$28 perhaps a little pricey but hard to resist!

For my first tasting note on Cellar Tracker, an enjoyable and easy drinking Beaujolais.
Color was a translucent ruby-magenta, and the first taste went down before I was able to remind myself that I'd need to pause and more carefully consider the wine for the purposes of writing this note. Subsequent tastes brought bright, pleasantly full raspberry in the mouth with an acidic finish leaving a slight buzz on the tip of the tongue. Not much fruit on the nose and perhaps a bit tight throughout, but table discussion of the bottle praised its texture and finish.
As Dylan sang, "I started out on Burgundy, but soon hit the harder stuff," I look forward to tasting more complex wines but this was certainly a safe start to my Cellar Tracker career.

This is always a classic and never disappoints, I have 3 for the cellar and one for opening now to evaluate the potential aging. Compared to previous vintages I find this a little lighter and delicate. The nose has classic fresh berry fruit, herbs, fresh earth and yes barnyard (Hello Brett!). Now this is not a bad thing on this wine at all, however it is noticeable, I will not put it as a fault. The palate was lush and nimble, with noticeable berry fruit, dried violets, light and well-integrated tannins, a dusty earth grippy mid palate and a fresh medium finish. Looking forward to follow this wine in the coming years.... Day 2: And the barnyard has left the building, the fruit is even more so front stage and there a nice forest floor, savory mid-palate developing.

13.5% this year. Floral nose, dark cherries, almost smells like a young Cotes du Rhône. 13.5% this year, could it be 14%? Young, serious tannins, dark cherry fruit but also floral notes, crushed stones and good acidity and freshness. Riper than usual, but not heady or warm, and still very much true to place. This is one to cellar for some time to soften up, the tannins are hard and unpleasant at the moment. Could become interesting over time.

On the nose: a medley of red fruits, sweet spices like cinnamon
On the palate: mouth puckering acidity, red fruits in the raspberries sour cherry realm. Hints of cinnamon like the nose followed by a slight earthiness and very fine tannins. Medium bodied and silky.
Lovely wine and great with charcuterie.

Palate w just ripe black cherries, just ripe plums, a bit of bubblegum, followed by nice minerals, bark, herbs and a bit of earth
Mild tannins on midpalate. Juicy acids on a medium-full bodied frame. Nice juicy moderately long finish. Wine is riper than I expected but in no way overdone. Drinking nicely but a bit riper than I prefer.

Color: medium ruby
Nose: tons of dominant, ripe, dark, dusty cherry. Licorice. Dark flowers. With a little time, raspberry coulis and mothballs. Fallen leaves. Minerals and something faintly herbal/medicinal, think chartreuse
Palate: medium-high acidity, medium body. Tannins are light but they do exist. Dominated by the primary dark red fruit, with traces of sweetness
Finish: medium
Very drinkable wine here, with lots of fun fruit and some herbaceous notes, licorice. I'm sure this could cool down horizontal for a bit with profit, but it's fun right now. Works well with food given the acidity and the body not ultra monolithic. Little bit of alcohol burn

Quick note from memory:
Fresh and lively red cherry and strawberry with great balance and concentration. Very enjoyable.

Delicious as always. Fresh and well defined, minerally but not austere, juicy fruit (peach, cherry) and gentle tannins, elegant and generous, moderate alcohol (13.5% ABV), hint of autumnal warmth, good length.

Violet-magenta color. Pretty aromas of sweet cherries and raspberries, with violets, earth, vanilla and graphite. Zippy acidity, dusty-moderate tannins but it opens up quickly and nicely and is drinking well already. Juicy cherries meet earth, graphite, iron and violets. Should've held but couldn't resist.

medium density magenta color. nose with sweet red berries, dry vanilla, and fennel. light bodied but filled out. polished nicely with the heat in check. some freshly ripe plum, blackberry, and maybe even strawberry, then drying cinnamon bark and dry licorice on the palate. increasingly juicy with hours open. lingers for a bit. plenty of fine, dry tannin. drinking better now than one a few weeks ago. more like the lapierre i'm used to.

Nice. Surprisingly ripe to me. Nose is floral and spicy with juicy red fruits. Violets, anise, raspberry, and cherry with peppery undertones. Palate is just as spicy and rich as the nose but with a balancing element of crushed rock. Black cherry and spiced plums.

Tight, giving up raspberry scents, energetic, with slightly ripe flavors of cherry, cranberry, exotic tea and li hing mui, polished mouth feel, bright, nice with roasted chicken, better in another year and beyond as it is very tight now

This is singing. Agree with previous notes that this vintage is the best in recent memory. These bottles will be gone fast.

Red fruited, elegant dancing delight. Most up my alley vintage of the last 5 (though '16 was awesome)!
