Bottle was delightful, and did its job of turning on another person to "white wine". Lovely florals and spices, followed by rich fruit and lively acidity.

Note: I use a scale on which 85 represents a very good wine.
A bit from memory, but it was a memorable bottle. As one Cter noted, hits all the right places. Sweet w/o being syrupy. Also still quite good on Day 2.

Aromas of lychee, lime, honey and cardamom. Syrupy on the front but the finish is nicely acidic with flavors of lime, cardamom, and green apples. The wine is all over the place, but it hits all the right spots. Very nice.

Light yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of apricots, flowers and yellow pears. Flavors of pears, yellow apples and apricots. Medium acidity, light to medium body. Drink or hold.

A bit musty. Not a lot of fruit. Somewhat complex, but not a lot there taste-wise. Just musty and a hint of fruit. Some good acidity, and a nice balance though.

Anwar and Trigirl opened this. Drank it twice a week apart from the same bottle. Straw yellow color. Aromas of pears. Much more concentrated on day one. Notes of minerals, spice rack, green jalapeño and carmelized pear. Moderately sweet. 88 points.

Tasted non blind with dinner. Opened and served immediately. Followed over about two hours.
Light yellow to yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of kumquat, apricot, lychee and a bit of pineapple. Flavors of cherry, kumquat and peach. Slightly tart acidity, light to medium body. Drink now.

Honeysuckle, wildflower nose with some chalky minerals too. A lot of verve, barely perceptible residual sugar, citrus pith, bitter palate that has a real oily weight to it. Good, but I'm not loving this, something slightly overdone or out of balance here with the bitterness and thinness of fruit.

Yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of apricot, peach, kumquat, sea foam and a hint of acacia. Flavors of peach, cherry and lychee. Medium acidity, light to medium body. Drink over the short term.
My guess was this is the 2005 Zind-Humbrecht Muscat Goldert that I brought.

Right out of the bottle, this is drinking still young, a little mineraly, with a hint of lead on the tongue, but after 10-15 min in the glass, the metallic notes dissipate to reveal a slightly sweet, almost bubbly, complex muscat with at least 10 more yrs to go. Bottoms up!

Spicy lychee, tropical pineapple, orange rind and honey are spiked with mineral notes and crisp acidity. There is, however, perceptible residual sugar that calls out for richer or spicy foods.

Uncommon Varieties: Clean, elegant nose of honeysuckle, pear, crayons, orange, plus a hint of chalkiness and a touch of something volatile. Very nice! Lush, rich, slightly oily and faintly sweet, this repeats the honeysuckle-orange richness on the palate. Great with the pizza and evolved nicely in the glass. Outstanding!

13% ABV. Medium gold in the glass. Tropical metallic fruit cocktail and some floral on the nose. Sweet tart attack ambrosia and honey. Seemingly a bit sweet with rich flavors in a medium to medium full bodied package. This finishes with something a little metallic and off in the finish. Pretty good, but maybe a bit past prime? 88-89.

DAWGS March 2010 - Alsace and Alsace Varietals (WineWave's house in McKinney, TX): WIML90-91? Tasted at an offline. No notes take so general impressions from memory only. Light yellow to yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nice nose of florals and a mix of yellow fruits that carried through to the palate. Good acidity and body. Drink over the next 3-4 years.

Great stuff, combining bright floral and faintly musky elements with an intense mineral base and suggestions of tropical and white fruited flavours. Really good balance and depth with plenty of acidity keeping it very precise, and a long finish that's all rose petals.

color : pale yellow with hints of green. Nose : aromas of white flower, honeysuckle, pear and grapefruit. In the mouth, the rich white fruit aromas strengthen the feeling of sweetness, although residual sugars are low. The high acidity brings freshness and balance. NB : the wine has been decanted over one hour. The wine was very tight when we opened the cork, but too long in the decanter will alter the freshness and crispiness. The wine can definitely age more, but I tend to prefer muscat when young and "fruity".

13% ABV. Bright straw gold in the glass. Tropical fruit, honey, canned fruit cocktail nose. Rich slightly sweet tropical fruit on the palate. This bottle was less compelling than the previous, but a decent wine. Lots of character for the money.

13% ABV. Medium straw color. For lack of a better descriptor, aromas of muscat grapes with wild peach/papaya/lychee/tangerine nose. Medium-full bodied with bright tropical fruit. Little off dry. Rich. Really good. Going back for more.

90-Pointers, Red and White (Farpointe Cellar): The nose had gasoline and tire rubber, mixed with honey, citrus, and apple. The palate was crisp and clean, and had turpentine, apple, honeydew, and a great stone finish.

Tasting of 2005 Zind Humbrechts (San Francisco Wine Trading Company): Indice 2. Also light in color. Restrained aromatics without the more volatile notes sometimes found in this varietal, which made it more palatable for me than the usual Muscat. Also came across as less sweet than the Riesling Herrenweg, although labelled as the same range of residual sugar. Alas, this is a varietal to which I have never been drawn, and this wine did not change that.

The Magical 2005 Vintage at Domaine Zind Humbrecht (Turckheim, Alsace, France): Nothing like the Herrenweg bottling at the moment but a monumental Muscat in it's own way. Pale in color today, this wine fermented for 14 months and is exhibiting a tighter, but more complex, structure. More about minerality than florality at the moment but I believe that with time this will develop and open into one of the best Muscats ever. 16g/l of residual sugar is barely noticeable given the acidity levels. Like the Herrenweg, this wine is easy to drink, but gives you more to think about. Will it match the amazing '71? Time will tell but my bet is that it will compete with that great bottling for best Muscat I've had after it has 10-20 years in the bottle. 50+13+12+8.5+8.5 = 92+
