This bottle was clearly not nearly as good as the previous tasters´ ones, although iit looked good with almost no ullage. In the nose old apples, cookies, and mushrooms taking over after a while. In the mouth some residual sugar - not too much -, burnt sugar, alcohol shining through, with bitter finish. Interesting in a way, but falling apart.

Copper coloured, cork was in great condition and less than half soaked. Popped and poured straight from the wine fridge. Nose of marmalade and honey on toast. The nose blind I would have guessed a Sauternes. Still had a great freshness with no petrol or stickiness. High intensity acid with the taste reflecting the nose. Again had a Sauternes feel without the richness and sweetness. There is a little bit of rs but it's well kept in check with the acid. Finish was long, and kept me going back for more. This was delicious, but I can't see it getting any better. I wish I had more, but was a great bottle as a once off.

Lekker vin.

Golden amber colour. Medium bq w red apples, honey, caramel, minerals. Medium+ body w bright acidity, slightly receding fruit, some sweetness (but not much for a VT). Aftertaste w acidity and sweet apple juice, finish with alcohol (14%). Still enjoyable, but drink up!

Nose of nectarine stone, lime peel and wax. Relatively well balanced acidity. Off-dry but slightly richer in the mouth than I expected based on the nose with marmalade, overripe apricots, peach and granite. Medium finish. Slightly bitter aftertaste which lingers (like a mother-in-law).

Delicious wine. Nice dried lemon, orange tea, good weight, and light acid. I felt this wine was in a good place right now. Drinking very well and is a great wine to open the night.

Mainly Pinots Dinner with Peter Rosback: More kero sets on the nose here, but again, to me, suggesting a 15, not a 27 year old, Riesling. Less expressive fruit aromas on the bouquet, more citrus and minerality. Again, glycerol, with plenty of volume and mid palate weight. More phenolics than the Trimbach. Also apparently lower acidity. Not far behind the Trimbach in quality. Very good and still a wine you could hold.

Prince - Hugel tasting (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): medium minus intensity aromas of honey and key lime pie, spice and some meaty notes. In the mouth the wine is off dry but wine some sourness, lime juice and touches of lime marmalade, cream and honey. Long, nice. Very nice in fact.

The wine is popped and aired for a good two hours before drinking. It pours a golden amber color with an honey colored tone and medium legs. On the nose, the wine has a strong bouquet of apricots, buttered popcorn, maltose syrup, candied lemon peel and petrol. There is a little heat on the palate, but the wine exhibits a well-defined, non-cloying structure. On the palate, the unctuous juice has concentrated flavors of caramel, tropical fruits, roasted pineapples, eucalyptus and mint. Surprisingly, the amount of residual sugars is not that high for this late harvest wine and thus yields a soft, supple structure. Finish is of medium length and there is a tinge of smokiness in the end. Great wine from Hugel.

Dried lemon, mango, orange marmalade, ginger, mushrooms, tea leaves and florality. Off-dry and pretty extracted palate with balanced mid-level acidity, mature fruit and some weightier brioche to nut character towards the aftertaste. Some yoghurt that largely faded away. Nothing extraordinary but hugely enjoyable. I'd drink now or in the coming years.

This was a "Good" wine but nothing special. Based on the rating guide this should be 80-85. Given the comments by the community an average rating of 90 (Excellent) is just stupid.

Medium yellow, not brown yet. Petrol, honey and flowery scent on the elegant sweet nose. Full-bodied palate with citrus flavors. Good semi-sweet riesling with still a decent acidity.

NobleRottersSydney - Twenty Years On...(1988) (Alio's, Surry Hills): [cork, 14%] Lemon-gold colour. Lots of honey and quince on the well-developed nose. The richly ripe and sweet aromas carry through onto the palate, which has a faintly greasy oiliness to the texture, plenty of body – it’s really very powerful – and a long balanced finish. Acid is unobtrusive but critically present. Finishes clean and almost dry, despite the overall sweetness level. Suspect it’ll hold this development plateau for years longer. Very good indeed.

Honey, botrytis, spice, mango and pineapple and on the nose. There is an initial rush of sweetness, but it finishes nicely crisp and dry. Not overly complex, but it was still a good way to end an excellent day.

This is the last of 3 gray market bottles I've drunk over the last 6 months, and this was the worst of the lot. Light golden color, very sound for an 18 year old wine. Something odd on the nose initially. I wondered if it was corked, but I think it turned out to be a weird, petrol-like component of aged Riesling rather than an overt flaw. Some dry, peachy fruit showed up, but overall dull, with a much shorter finish than the other bottles, both of which were excellent and much fresher.

Wine Education Service - Great Alsatians: Intense gold. A petrol nose, honey, no fruit. Opulent from the attack, acidity balancing the residual sugar, minerality, brilliant breadth and complexity, wonderful.

Farge: Gylden. Duft: Petroleum, lakk, fantastisk intens duft, bra modne aromaer, "firne". Smak: Relativt ung, full av stoff, kan lagres videre, halvtørr smak pga. søtlig frukt og litt restsødme. Intens, flott matvin, kraftig.

Lovely mature riesling nose. Not at all over the hill.
Open mature palate. Gentle sweetness. In a very nice place.
