Med gold Med intensity, nectarin, pine apple, orchid, pastry, buttery, honey comb, lemon curd, grape fruit, developing. Dry, high acidity, med alcohol, med+ intensity, pine apple, pastry, honey, nectarin, med body, med+ finish with a bit of bitterness of nectarine in a good way. Overall, this is a very good wine. Paired well with seafood pasta and seaweed pork knuckle soup.

I think I like this a tad more than the general CT average. Improved a lot as it warmed - loosing its bitter qualities and gaining in lemony and pebble complexities. Very good.

OK. I'm typically a fan of this wine, however, in this particular vintage, not so much. Xavier Auerbach's note pretty much mirrors my own sentiment "Even though it is rich and honeyed, it is not necessarily big or weighty (12.5% ABV), but it does lack precision and cut, the bitters dominate on the palate, it is vinous and spicy, but the finish is going nowhere. I'm not a fan". Drink now if you have some.
Pretty white flowers, green melon and apple on the nose, green almond and melon on the palate with acidity recalling pomelo with a hint of pith. Refreshingly crisp in the mouth, went beautifully with sockeye salmon and braised greens with speck. A lovely wine if on the light-bodied side, I miss the creamy yeast and biscuit aromas classic to many soaves with extended lees contact. Drink soon.

Nose a little muted but this too cold. Apple, pear, almond and floral notes with a bone dry, textured, stony palate. Will open up even more when it warms up!

James's early look at 2016 Bar/Bar (Terra Rossa): Lactic, greenly aromatic, jewel-like nose. Unfurled gently on the palate, quite soft, warm and golden overall but bitter towards the finish. Lovely, easy-drinking wine, but not as impressive as La Rocca seems to be.

James' mid-tier 2016 Piedmonts (Terra Rossa, London N1): Slightly darker than straw yellow in colour. Honey suckle and tropical yellow fruits on the nose. Medium bodied, quite viscous, no shortage of acidity, and did not quite sing for me as the citric notes reminded me of Tutti Frutti sweets from when I was a kid. I found it a bit heady and lacking in freshness.

2016 Piedmont at Terra Rossa; 12/12/2022-12/13/2022 (Terra Rossa N1): Nose of toffee apple, lemon peel, fresh linen and mint - nice range from sweet and rich to crisp and clean. On the palate ripe apple and lemon to the fore with a hint of vanilla - good balance of riper elements and acidity. Nice wine with good complexity
Pale yellow/gold, apple and pear aroma, quite complex, very fresh, dry and oily with lovely fruit. Quite delicious. Went well with an orzo with prawns and marinated feta dish

First Calvarino after years of enjoying the standard Soave Classico. A clear step up to another level. One dimension of elevation is the taste of the fruit. This has quite clearly defined fruit flavors. Although the same grape percentages are in both this wine has lower ylelds per hectare. The fruit is elegant. The first level has flavors that shout "serve with simple, heavier dishes". Second clear difference is the presence of mineral and salinity. They add delightful complexity. The basic is all fruit and fine that way. They are two very different wines, each delightful in its separate way. To be served with different foods. The first time the words finesse and Soave came together in tasting.
Ready to drink. Do not expect to hold any until 2029 as tasting window suggests.

Une maison que j'adores. Bien franc et ample, de la substance ici. Des agrumes, des poires, du miel et des herbes. Belle acidité avec une finale assez longue et minérale.

From black volcanic soil, facing Northwest. Concrete ferment/aging. Medium nose shows flint, white flowers, wet rock. Palate matches with tasty fruit, light, mineral and citrus driven. Very dry finish.

My first 2019. So fresh and fruity right out of the bottle. Very similar to a GG Riesling with nice overripe pears, honeydew and ripe green gooseberries. This is great QPR in my book. Nice medium body and long finish. This wine grows to be better for every vintage and encourage me to drink more Garganega wines. Had it with pancetta and spring onion risotto.

I really enjoyed the Pieropan Soave Classico 2020 recently, and I am generally a big fan of the Calvarino young (2017) or old (1994), but this 2019 is a difficult wine. Even though it is rich and honeyed, it is not necessarily big or weighty (12.5% ABV), but it does lack precision and cut, the bitters dominate on the palate, it is vinous and spicy, but the finish is going nowhere. I'm not a fan.

A very good showing, a strong phenolic character offset with lemon, stone and fresh Italian herbs.

Decanted 30 min dinner. Best after an hour and 12 degrees. Still a bit. Dry mineral touch, stone fruit. Food wine. Nice

Solid and well made. Pronounced minerality, herbal notes, grapefruit and apple, very dry and slightly bitter finish. Better on day 2, 89+.
