Yeasty nose. Tastes of ripe apple, perhaps slightly oxidized. Roasted nut accents. Touch of minerals on the finish. Showing more age than I expected, perhaps not stored properly.

Fairly yeasty nose. Some nuttiness. Coarse bubbles. Somewhat neutral finish with a touch of bitterness. But on the whole comes across as too much dosage for my tastes in the sense of being slightly off dry and heavier than it needs to be.

Out of the half bottle. Gorgeous light gold color. Tantalizing scents of apricots, brioche, limes and sandstone. Wonderful flavours of toast, citrus, pomegranates (I know right) and green tea. Hard to argue against aging your Schramsbergs. Even their entry level wines prove to get better with time! Tastes wonderful with steamed salmon and a side of broccoli slaw.

Angelica wine Club - Sparkling (Strand Cellars, Croydon): Lemon and biscuit dominate the nose. on the palate it has juicy citrus fruit, crisp mousse, it's tangy, a little texture on the mid palate, slight alcohol warmth. Nice.

Light, pale gold in color with a fine & constant perlage. Full, fragrant & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of green apples, lemons/limes & pears with overtones of floral & yeasty/brioche notes, minerals & stony. Light bodied with a good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured yet crisp, ripe fruit flavors of green apples, Meyer lemons & pears with yeasty/bread, stony & minerals. Lingering crisp finish. Drinks quite well at present although aging has added a bit of complexity since its initial release.

Excellent, dry, yeasty bubbly that's long on flavor and finish. Pungent nose of apple, crisp fruit on the palate, but avoids the hint of sweetness that befalls so many new world bubblies. Outstanding.

I love Schramsberg with a little age and this is developing nicely since last year’s bottle. Green apple, kiwi, and key lime pie aromas have a slight herbaceous aspect. The crisp, tensile, and foamy palate displays glazed fruit, river rocks, dried herbs, and hints of bottle age complexity. Closes with baking spices on the finish. Nicely done, once again.

Herbaceous on the nose with added limestone. Palate shows more of the classic chalk/yeast notes with minuscule bubbles. ALMOST creamy (but not quite). There is a baked key lime pie type finish. A nice US sparkler for the price.
Previous note applies. A good first-start-sipper kind of sparkler. Simple but flavorful and balanced enough to hold interest and offer pleasure. An “easy does it” beverage.
Drink now, as the crispness of the back end falls off a bit in the finish.

100% Chardonnay, 20% french oak barrel fermentation. All used. 2.5 years on the lees. ALl over the north coast, about 115 different growers which yields 200 different base wines. First vintage was 1965 and they have made every vintage since. And their most popular wine.
Crisp and focused, tighter than what I remember, just a bit funky on the back.

Lime, pie crust, chalk and subtle spices. Very pleasing nose and palate. Medium plus finish and good acidity. This is as good as any NV Champagne I have sampled in a few years. Very clean and complex.

Crisp and refreshing, with a frothy, brioche note on the back end that carried the light yellow citrus fruit on through the finish. Nothing super enticing or complex, but paired well with a spicy and tangy cauliflower barley dish. Drink now.

SLDS October 2017 #2: Mineral, lemon, light honey, some orange and a touch of herb on the nose. Good acid line with some sharpness evident. Restrained mineral fruit, this is very youthful and would probably benefit from a few years in the cellar. Medium length.

A week in Napa for the Napa Valley Grape Growers Harvest STOMP party; 8/22/2017-8/27/2017 (Napa, CA): When you are hanging out at the pool and a little hungover - nothing like popping some tasty bubbly to while away the afternoon. The Schramsberg BdB is a great value bubbly, with lemony acidity and lively bubbles - perhaps a bit higher dosage than the typical entry level grower champagne - but very easy to drink as an aperitif sans food.
Had it at my daughter's engagement dinner in Hong Kong's American Club, it was a "replacement" for Ch. Ste. Michelle Blanc de Noir that they ran out. I didn't complain, because it was a free upgrade! Sure enough, I was impressed more and more by the American Sparkling scene, as it delivered round mouth feel with delightful acidity in apple citrus flavors with nice minerality. Although it does not possess the Champagne aspirin minerality, it has its own generous style that I found very enjoyable. With some aging, I am sure it will reveal more layers of complexity. Go USA!

So youthful, clean, and fresh from the start. Lime, green apple, stonefruit, and brioche nose. Crisp, assertive and palate cleansing, with an eruption of effervescence to go along with a delicate mousse, refreshing crispness, and the perfect amount of minerality. A back note of quince pushes through the tensile finish. Beautiful.
