Better than expected. Balanced nose; earth and fruit. Not fruity, not oaky. Reminds me of a Justin circa 2007 (when it was good). Some green pepper on the nose. Finish is dominated by tannin.

Given the youth gave this 3 round trips through an aerating decanter, which smoothed out and opened this up. Generic decent quality Napa cab that paired well with NY steaks.

Not too young; opened with plemty of fruit, though i'll give it more time just to see if it opens more. I get black cherry for sure, i feel there is some cedar hanging out in the back, with blackberries and oak.

P: The palate almost breaks through the artificial veil with its dark fruit. A good juiciness but gets held down. It’s trying hard to shine through but has a difficult time doing so.

Received as a gift from a friend and drank on our anniversary. Young but well integrated. Dark purple color. Flavors of dark cherries, blackberries and plums with some cocoa/leather notes. Stood up well to Fillet and roasted Brussel Sprouts.

Nice mid weight cab, ready to drink now. Opened and let sit for about 30 mins. Nice bright black cherry, very fruity forward style. Some blackberry and a little menthol on the nose. Nice berry finish. Nothing spectacular, but a very solid Napa cab at a decent price.

An excellent wine. Strong body and taste, with a nice moderate-length finish. Had enough structure and tannins to pair very well with steak, yet still be pleasant alone.
9 oz pour, at a restaurant.

On palate, stewed fruit but not in a good way. It almost feels like as if i bitten into past the expiration date fruit. sweet but weird kind of sweet, if you know what i mean. Tannins are grainy, medium finish.
Maybe this needs to be aged further? But not a high acidity level already. I gave it 81 since it didn't cost me anything, but if i had to pay for it? less than 60.
Dark ruby, almost inky. Black cherry, blackcurrant, mint and menthol. Big sweet blackcurrant, spice, caramel richness with some grip and a little bit of heat.

Deep, dark reddish-purple in color bordering on opaque. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with overtones of dusty/earthy notes, cocoa, some leather notes, spices, herbs, minerals, some cedar & a hint of oak/vanilla in the background. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, plush, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries and plums, mocha, minerals, herbs, spices & a hint of oak/vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing (90+min.) but has the potential to develop further with additional aging.

Duckhorn was founded in Napa Valley in 1976 by vintners Dan and Margaret Duckhorn (hence the name). This particular wine was made of grapes from both the valley floor and the Napa mountains.
Medium-dark ruby in color with an inky core, this wine is quite aromatic, offering a nose of red and dark fruits, leather, forest floor and a touch of spicy pepper. Upon sipping, one is met with a medium-full bodied wine with a velvety texture, fairly high tannins and moderate acidity. The attack is earthy, though fresh red cherry, black currant, and blackberry emerge soon afterward on the midpalate along with leather and cocoa powder. This is a bit heavy in the vanilla department, and I think they overdid it with the oak. The finish is reasonably long and dry, starting off oaky and fading away to nothingness on the wings of chocolate covered cherries.
Overall, a well-made, solid wine, and I certainly enjoyed drinking it. That being said, this is a standard Napa cab that brings nothing new to the table, and it lacks the complexity needed to deserve the $75 price tag; at that price you can get a lot more for your money out of a Cakebread cab, for example, or out of the many offerings out of Paso Robles. Additionally, it would have gotten a 91 if they hadn’t overdone the oak. Anyway, it went well with grilled steak, as the steak’s smokiness complemented the wine’s fruit quite nicely.

Did a blind tasting with 2019 Duckhorn, 2018 Heitz and 2018 Jordan and Duckhorn was the consensus favorite.
