Very good Loire white; on the 'sumptuous' side for the Old World, with some oak/vanilla/butter/malolactic flavor. Reminded me a bit of a premium US Chardonnay. A tinge of aftertaste bitterness when opened, but that disappeared as bottle aired out.

Light gold color. Spslit bottle over 3 hours. Very floral to start, quite perfumed carrying the lemon curd and peach, bright , very stoney, grapefruit. The palate is medium bodied, pretty, such nice acidity, lemon, grapefruit, peach, red apple, green herbs, a touch of tangerine, lime zest and stone. Very nice. 92+ to 93pts.

Very good, quite lean on the fruit, pomelo and pomelo pith, and a lovely pine nut (not toasted) note which carries through. Slightly bitter, but in a pleasant way. Drank over 5 days, remained yummy to the last day.

Started out very clean, precise, but very closed. Opened up after 20-30 min. to reveal lots of clean minerals, river rocks, lime and lime pith, slick, good concentration but with elegance. Loire Whites Party Teviot St.

Served double-blind. The wine pours a straw color with no rim variation; medium viscosity with no signs of particles or gas. On the nose, the wine is of medium intensity with lemon meringue, pineapple, limestone-like minerals and a touch of burnt microwave popcorn. On the palate, the wine is dry; medium(?) acid and medium(+?) alcohol. There is a very peculiar textural element that I’m trying to get my head around. I think this wine may have seen some oak but the barrels would have to have been used. The finish was long and had a saline quality to it. What the hell is this? I could see this being Chardonnay from a new world producer doing some funny stuff or possibly a Marsanne from the Northern Rhone? I will say that there is a hint of a green herbal/vegetal thing on the finish that is making me consider Sauvignon Blanc or Gruner Veltliner but I don’t detect the acid being high enough for SB and there is no way this is Gruner. I’m sort of stumped here…so I went with Marsanne from France, Northern Rhone, Hermitage Blanc with 3-5 years of age and I wasn’t comfortable with it…but whatever. I know that I liked this wine, whatever it was! Dang…this was Sauvignon Blanc and Didier Dagueneau Pouilley-Fumé to boot!! I should have trusted my identification of the vegetal note and considered Sauvignon Blanc a little longer than I did. The textural element is coming from contact with lees and threw off my perception of the acid. I’ll have to get better at understanding that. This wine is Benjamin Dagueneau’s VdF made with younger vines from the St. Andelain hill in Pouilly-Fumé. Drink now or over the next handful of years, easy.

Sweet/tart stone fruit with a nice mineral/stone backing. Texturally a mouth full with nice balance. Not the most exciting wine for the price but certainly good. Opened in the bottle a few hours but likely needs years longer. Strange finish.

Unique wine from the Dagueneau family. Lemon, asparagus, white flowers, mineral/flint, green herbs, and wool create an intriguing web of aromas and flavours. Considerable weight on the palate, with laser-focused acidity and real vibrancy. Keeps evolving in the glass. Structured and elegant, this will only improve with time, though it is hard to resist right now. Remarkable.

SLDS May 2021: Grassy with lemon and vanilla aromatic notes. Clean and clear palate, good crisp acidity, has a pretty edge to the fruit resulting in this being quite nice to drink early in its life.

Diepte en lengte maar nog jong. Nog even laten liggen maar niet te lang. Frisse zuren, citrus. Beetje buxus maar niet overheersend.

Same impression as before. Good but needs time and has a very delayed musty finish/aftertaste that spoils the glass.

Delicious with clear upside. More approachable than other wines of this producer at this stage.
