This bottle was in pristine condition. Light yellow color. Mineral, saline nose with flowers and citrus. Needs air to unfold on the palate, lime juice, stone fruits, stones. Good itensity, complexity, precision and cut. Not warm at all. Wonderful to taste a proper bottle of this.

This really came to life with aeration, and it is still going strong. Packed with citrus and stoney gravel notes, it delivers a a great depth and balance. This finish is first rate with good length and an excellent minerality.

Note: I use a scale on which 85 represents a very good wine.
Can't believe it's been five years since the last one, particularly as good as that one was. This was no different. No decant, not certain if it was needed. Great breadth of flavors all in balance. Postcard Chablis. The Grand Cru is well deserved.
This has certainly developed since my last bottle in 2017. More relaxed and rounded, now with tertiary notes. The fruit is quite rich, there is power here, still classic Chablis notes of citrus, sea salt and stones. Getting there, I think, at least based on my experience with this bottle.

This was very pleasant indeed. Just to write what my 16 year old son described upon tasting a sip of it; it is a bit citrusy but also a bit sweet and salty as well... hum strange as it is also a bit powdery and tangy but yet there is a sphere of lushness surrounding the whole thing from above, the details of the mentioned profiles. Not a bad description from a high school kid barely sipping from mummy and daddy's glasses! Cheers,

One of the best Chablis that I have had and surprisingly this is a bottle that I thought it would most likely be badly oxed. Bright transparent yellow, splendid nose of healthy citrus, honey and delicate flowers. On the palate it is super lithe yet slightly oily as well and the flowers and citrus are fighting to take more room from each other but in the most pleasant manner. Slightly saline, sweet appley and reminding me of a most pure water flowing on top of a rock at a high mountain. Simply amazed by the youth, purity, yet uplifting and suble complexities. Cheers,

Slightly oxed, which is really not bad as I thought and still think that most W.Fevre '06 are giving up their souls. This bottle was actually holding up alright and giving honey, lush texture with marmelade, citrus and iodine flavors. Not bad... but if you've got some left, time to drink up. Cheers,

A healthy bottle and this one is really young. Even after 4 days in the fridge this is still somewhat closed and hiding behind a wall of salt, stones, citrus and quite intense fruit. This is a big scaled wine, Grand Cru in nature but not warm by any means. Patience is required here.

Wine-Pages Glasgow Festival of Wine Post Offline (The Western Club, Glasgow): Stinky nose. Very stinky. Very slowly, the stink blows off revealing some nuttiness and beurre noisette notes. Bit oxidised, but not full blown. Very full on the palate, with some richness, but I don't know whether I'm tasting the aroma, but there's that same stinkiness on the palate, and I'm finding this hard going. Not entirely pleasant to my taste.

Popped and poured. Was worried this would be pre-moxed but the wine gods were smiling on us tonight. Outstanding Chablis. Flint, Citrus ( blood orange ? ), aciditiy and just all around a great wine. Would buy and store these by the truckload if one could be sure that this was the result.

No premox. While no one in their right mind would call this a classical chablis, I was very impressed where this sits a decade in. Deep yellow, this carried a slight honeyed trait (botrytis?) that really played nicely off a core of fresh pear and minerals. I kept wating for this to tire, perhaps lose some structure, turn a tad chubby, nope this was strong till the end, culminating and beautiful wake of cleansing acidity and spearamint. Lovely wine.

Burnished lemon-line colour; excellent lime-flint lift on nose, with a little pear; good mouth feel, medium weight, but with lovely interplay of flavours and a good structure. Very well made wine, not a blockbuster, but attractive with style and finesse. 92-93.

Not showing as well as the last bottle, but I've had some problems with other bottles as well. So a brief TN. Good amount of fruit, less acidity than you might expect.

B&R Xmas. This exceeded my expectations. A little rounder than classic Chablis but plenty of acid and minerality to go with the fruit. Delicious with oysters and the squash soup that followed.

We had 2 bottles of this at a party. One was corked, the other beautiful. This is about beautiful. Great acidity, stone with a hit of grapefruit. But medium to full bodied and cloaks your tongue. I'm wondering how long these age, as the full body could lead to flabbiness. Anyway great at the moment and a long finish.

Aging nicely! This is tasty. It is crisp and meaty at the same time. I like the silica, limestone, and baked lemon perceptions, followed by a nice full- for dry, crisp, Chablis- swallow.

This Chablis has been a roller coaster ride over the years. My ratings ranged from good to great depending on bottle variation. This final bottle of the case may sum up the average of a fine Chablis. Rather Good, with similar tasting notes of previous bottles in that range. Nice, but not particularly memorable overall. For the price, I will probably not buy again.

Stellar, as usual, though there was a peculiar understated taste that I can't put my finger on, which added interest but detracted a bit from the purity of fruit I've come to expect from this wine.

Lovely wine in terms of the variety of tastes. Very expressive (if that is the term). Nice balance, fruit, acid, and whatever. I suspect that it will be better in 1-3 years. Just a hunch. Decanted while drinking.

Casual (Mostly) Burg Dinner with Friends (Bistro Campagne - Chicago, IL): Far superior vs another more mature from my cellar from a few weeks ago. This still showed lots of ripe 2006 character and wasn't necessarily very classically "Chablis," but still good ripe apple with subtle textural elements throughout.

Colour light lemon, with clarity, depth and viscosity. On opening, a little musty on the nose and disjointed on the palate but after 30 minutes it came together (whew). Wow, this is good! On bouquet, minerals, wet river boulders and chalk to the fore, with oyster shell and a little sea spray. Also a layer of orchard fruit aromas, particularly Bartlett pears and peaches. A lovely, elegant understated nose, also with a touch of honey and some white cottage flowers. In the mouth, excellent intensity and acid cut, broad with serious Grand Cru fruit weight, volume and power. Pure, fresh, refined and elegant flavours, very well balanced. Nuanced and detailed flavours again led by mineral, chalk and seashell elements, backed by pear, lemons and grapefruit, blanched almonds and a hint of sweet lemon honey and vanilla pod. Seamlessly integrated oak. Excellent length, finishing on its acids, nice and dry. The Chablis reminds me, if I need reminding, that top Grand Cru Chablis competes with other top end White Burgundy Grand Cru, often at a fraction of the price. This bottle was right in its drinking window, but looked like it could have gone another 5+ years easily.

Another ride on this Chablis roller coaster. My ratings have ranged from 84 to 95. I'm pleased to say this bottle merits an outstanding rating of 91 from me. Light gold. Nose of summer flowers and river rocks. The palate is rich and full, with a great balance between fruit and minerality. On the long finish, notes of almonds, peaches, pears, and scallop shells. Complex.

My second bottle in about two months. Again, a beautiful green-gold color and a ripened fruit nose. In the mouth medium-weight green apple, citrus fruit and vanilla custard flavors are carried on a clearly defined streak of acidity. This really is an excellent white wine. By the way, the acidity helped cut the buttery richness of the Escargots à la Bourguignonne served with it and made for a perfect wine/food pairing. 94 points.

Pale yellow. Nose of wet stone, grapefruit and quinine. Oak is present but not unpleasant. Riper on the palate than the aromas would suggest. Well balanced if not the most classical Chablis. For a $30 close out on a grand cru Chablis, who's complaining?

An outstanding white Burgundy, medium to light bodied but with loads of complexity. My wife used some in braising chicken breasts with snow peas and kale and we enjoyed a couple of glasses with dinner. Delicious stuff, and if I felt comfortable having a US$45-$75 as a go-to white, this could be the one, but my budget mandates that my go-to whites to be under, if not well under, $25-$30. This one is truly a treat.

This lovely wine has a green-tinged medium gold color and an undeniably ripe and fruity nose. On the palate, ample acidity supports lemon, apple, vanilla and a touch of pine smoke. It does not possess an overabundance of Chablis “steeliness” but is nevertheless extremely fresh, exceedingly opulent, moderately long and deliciously satisfying. This excellent wine, which is a picture-perfect example of its ripe vintage, has years of life ahead of it. 94 points.

Served slightly below cellar temperature. Soft nose of white flowers, pear, tropical fruit, lemon zest and sea shell. All on the palate with a touch of salinity, and leading to a long, dry finish. Excellent balance of minerality and acidity. Paired well with sauteed flounder and herb butter.

This Chablis has varied greatly in my experience. This bottle, though good, is not more than good. Conversely, I have rated one previous bottle of this same lot of wine as high as 95 (one of the highest ratings I've ever given to a white wine). C'est la vin.

Disappointing showing. Nose is bright with saline qualities - minerals, lime, sea shells - but an odd sherry note lingers beneath. Palate shows more oxidiation in the background and distracting from stone fruit and acidity. Disjointed and odd. Saved some for night #2 but not expecting much.

Light youthful color. Soft white fruit, citrus, and subtle honey nose followed by flavors of white orchard fruit, saline, yellow apple, and just a touch of botrytis. This is very lean for the vintage. Lovely juice. I very much enjoyed this.

Huge bottle variation. From my low of 86 to my high of 95. Maybe 89 is where this belongs when the bottle is right. Excellent Chablis with unique terroir, filled with notes of clay, limestone, oysters, and minerals, both on the nose and the palate. Grand Cru indeed.

Popped and poured; cellar temperature. Medium greenish gold; intriguing nose of sea shells and smoke; on the palate quite rich for Chablis but lovely balance and tell-tale acidity. Drinks very well now. If not for the finishing acid kick I would probably have picked this as Cote de Beaune.

Opened one hour before tasting, and served slightly above cellar temperature. Beautiful bouquet of apple, pear, lemon peel, tropical fruit, and sea shell. Apple, lemon peel, and sea shell on the palate leading to a long, crisp, dry finish. A well balanced and delicate wine. Paired with lobster.

Light yellow gold. Beautiful Chablis. Well-balanced acidity; floral, pineapple and honey flavors with a hint of quince; underlying minerality ties it together. Round and less precise on the palate than one might expect from a Chablis, but this is not a negative here. Not so much of a value play, but oh my, this is very good stuff.

This is a good wine in that it is true to the place and to what the vintage gave - it is ripe, to the point where the fruit after two hours open is very exotic - lots of pineapple. If you are looking for classic Chablis, this does not seem to be it, but it is still a lovely wine and it is honest.

Completely different than the 2000 Dauvissat Les Clos that preceded this Fevre. Whereas the Dauvissat shows shades of tan and gold, this is more clear. More minerality, too. This is showing some new wood notes also. No tropical notes which are prevalent in 2006 Chablis. Still has some baby fat, but the minerality is a good balance. Whereas I would generally suggest drinking 2006 Chablis, this one should be left alone for another year or two. With Bruce G. and Brooklynguy at Rothmann’s.

Seems to have turned a corner; drinking very well right now. Clean pale straw color... floral aromas and citrus, steel. Hint of madierization increases complexity and does not harm, (but better drink up). Delicious balance, rich, not as crisp as one expects in chablis. Call it a Puligny Montrachet with a Chablis label.

The biggest transformation ever between two bottles of the same wine that I've ever experienced. This one, longer than a year after the previous bottle I opened, is magnificent Chablis at its best. Light straw color. Nose of wet flint and honeysuckles. The palate is full and robust, an extravaganza of fruit and minerality in beautiful balance. Light, tight lemon on the start, polished granite in the mid palate, and a back palate of ripe summer peaches. Fabulous Fevre!

There’s ripeness to this wine by way of some lightly candied orchard fruits. It also has plenty of white flower action and a squeeze of lime juice. It is rich and textured with softish but ok acidity. It has decent richness but lacks the piercing intensity of the 07 or 08 versions.

After drinking this last night, it occurred to me that the Fevre CdB serves a very unique attribute amongst their Grand Cru stable; that is its ability to give a grand cru experience in its younger years, thus perhaps trimming down the need to cellar for an extended period of time, decreasing the likelihood of pre-mox bottles down the road. This 06 CdB was on fire last night. Served in burg stem, the aromas were initially faint and non-discreet, but no more than 10 minutes later, multiple complexities of iris and maritime scents swirled around a distinct note of fennel. I’m going right for the finish, as while the wine had a great, light on its feet but plenty of tension and richness thing going on, it was the finish that owned the night. It was like a super slow motion video of water hitting solid surface, bouncing up slowly in the mouth, expanding in multiple waves allowing serious contemplation long after the wine was swallowed. Superb Chablis, a tossup between this and the 05 Preuses as my best Fevre of the year.

Drinking nice now but I will wait a couple more years before opening the next. Quite subtle. Drank with a white wine based seafood pasta and the food over powered the wine. The second half of the bottle after dinner showed better. Recommend to drink over the next 3-8 years

Very good but very young and reticent. Still very primary but already showing nice complexity at this point. Mouthwatering acidity, flint, lemon lime, nutty nuances, restrained, elegant and still quite tightly coiled. Let it sleep for a couple of years more. I like them a little more nuanced.

Clear green gold; an intriguing saline note on the nose as well as a rich (botrytis?) quality that is atypical of most Chablis, and yet very clean. Initially, it was a bit disjointed on the palate without a somewhat hollow mid-section; over time the wine integrated very well and was rich but with excellent typical Chablisienne acidity. Went beautifully with sauteed scallops. An excellent wine, perhaps more typical of Les Clos then the other Grand Crus.

There’s some exoticism to the nose in the form of spiced pear and custard apples as well as a strong iodine scent. In the mouth it is dense and chewy with plenty of minerality sheathed by sappy fruits. The acidity is there but it is round and doesn’t allow the wine to speak with as much clarity as say the 07, 04 or 02 versions. There’s quite a strong thread of spearmint evident (as there is in the 06 Les Clos as well).

A clean chablis, varietal nose leans towards slightly sweet citrus flowers; perhaps a bit thin on the front palate, with modest acidity and noticable minerality (a surprise: Steve Tanzer described it as almost thick... does Fevre do multiple bottlings?). A good wine but one to drink soon. Benefitted from a bit of air.

Asher's Birthday Bash - The Big 4-0 (Rothmann's Steakhouse, New York): Asher and I recently bought a case each of this wine at a very good price so I was excited to taste this wine for the first time. I was slightly disappointed in this wine though. The fruit is a bit on the ripe side with a more exotic profile than usual for Fevre. A mark of the vintage? Lacks a bit of precision and cut. This is clearly a very young wine though and it may work itself out with more time in the cellar. The only Chablis of the night that I wasn't crazy about. Asher thought it showed some ripe, somewhat tropic notes, which is consistent with the vintage, but underlying that found very good acidity and tension. Like a Chablis on cocaine.

I should have probably decanted this as it was difficult to get a good showing on the nose, but man alive, the palate was so refined for such a young Chablis. Amazingly rich palate feel, yet never the slightest suggestion of wood, this wine never broke stride in delivering its soil and mineral charms with just right the amount of balancing acidic cut. Expansive finish to say the least, 45 to 60 seconds with ease. Certainly showing well today, better in a couple of years, spectacular after that.

A Grand Cru from a direct south-facing slope of nearly 30% grade, apparently a fault scarp. The thinnest soils of all of the Grand and Premier Cru, consisting of clay and pebbles, this makes it hard to grow the vines. Whoa doggie, this one delivered everything one could expect and more--if anybody at the Penn State tasting was starting to slow down, this one jerked by the lapels and announced itself as Grand Cru. This one had all the floral and faint tropical fruit nuances of the Fourchaume Vignoble de Vaulorent, but with an extra dimension of what I can only refer to as “muscle”—it presents a powerful, sappy mid-palate that complements the nonlinear notes (faint notes of a distant tropical isle, a stony white flower-filled grotto) that arise on the long, high Reynolds Number finish. I was again pleased to see that quite a few of the tasters (including some neophytes) realized what they were tasting here.

94 points.

94 points.

Clear green gold; an intriguing saline note on the nose as well as a rich (botrytis?) quality that is atypical
of most Chablis, and yet very clean. Initially, it was a bit disjointed on the palate without a somewhat hollow
mid-section; over time the wine integrated very well and was rich but with excellent typical Chablisienne acidity.
Went beautifully with sauteed scallops. An excellent wine, perhaps more typical of Les Clos then the other Grand Crus.
