[At Salil's. Pop and pour.] Nose of flowers, minerals, and citrus. Dry, thick, super long. Two hours later: Now it's just signing with peaches and pears in the nose. Tropical fruit up front. Long dry finish. Wow! Complex and stunningly good.

Five years since my last bottle and this is really in a great spot right now. In that phase where the fruit, mineral, and more developed smoky and savoury flavours have all combined into an incredibly complex and seamless whole that's far more than the sum of the parts. Power and richness conveyed with a sense of finesse and grace. Just a stellar bottle of Riesling, and I'm glad I still have a couple more remaining from the case.

Beautiful nose; balanced but definitely present acidity. Excellent minerality. Feel like it could sit for a few more years still? Drank @ first wine group tasting

Stone fruit, green tea, chamomile, ripe apricot, and tart citrus notes on the nose. Great acidity with flavors of citrus, orange zest, and ripe apples on the complex palate. Long finish. Very interesting but also quite ripe and viscous on the palate.

Golden yellow. Petrol on the nose. Rich, ripe white peach, apricot, cantaloupe fruit. Uniquely ripe, yet crisp. Really well balanced, and one of the best white wines we've had so far this year. Terrific stuff!

Another great bottle; intensely mineral and herbal with plenty of ripe Riesling fruit and fantastic acidity. Consistent with recent experiences - this is in a great place right now.

Love this wine. Packed with ripe fruit and intense minerality with light smoky and herbal accents, and a tart, herb and stone-filled finish that's a mile long. Powerful and very ripe as I'd expect from FX, but so well balanced with no shortage of acidity.

HDH Bordeaux Auction; 11/9/2018-11/10/2018 (Chicago, IL): Very nice, spicy nose, with tons of ripe fruit here, and some clear riesling crystalline cleanliness. Fairly thick and waxy on the palate. There's quite a bit of residual sugar here, which helps with the thick texture and headiness, but I am really not a huge fan of the intense green and herbal bitterness on the finish.

A soil-to-glass-transfer wine at this point. Tastes as if it came from rocks rather than grapes, and just a spectacular bottle showing phenomenal depth to the fruit and mineral flavours, the beginning of maturing smokiness, and impeccable balance.

This took about 20 minutes of air to open up and blow off some initial funk. After that, this was ready to roll. Honey, stone fruits, and petrol come across on this one. Plenty of acidity made for a very long finish.

This is developing into an absolutely spectacular Riesling. The intense minerality that I remember when I first had this in 2009 is still there - it's truly a soil to glass transfer wine with incredibly vivid slate and chalky notes - along with piercingly bright citrus and stone fruit flavours that are still very fresh and vibrant, but now it's added layers of maturing honeyed and smoky notes. It needs some time to open up - half an hour or so of air brings out much more aromatic depth and intensity, but this is compelling to sit down and follow over dinner. The balance here is absolutely perfect with powerful acidity keeping it very light and refreshing. Great, great wine, and I'm glad I have a lot more. One to drink and hold.

Aromatic nose of honey, stone fruits and petrol. The mouthfeel is rich, silky, linear, with medium acidity and flavors matching the nose, and lingering. A very good and seducing Riesling.

Rich, almost creamy texture. The acidity only makes its presence known on the mid-palate and finish. Apricot with a hint of spice dominate the flavor profile. Smooth, but not at all flabby- muscular stuff that drinks well now, but will continue to age effortlessly for another 5-7 years.

Fairly thick and round for an Austrian Riesling with atypical lower acidity. Lovely floral and citrus notes and finishes with a nice mineral complexity. This is ready to go tonight.

Aktuell ausgesprochen fruchtbetonter Riesling (die unten stehende Bemerkung, daß sich die Säure hinter der Masse an Frucht verbirgt, ist absolut passend!) mit enormen Schmelz und extrem langem, harmonischem Abgang

Very pronounced, vivid flavors of Margherita-like lime and lemon flavors mixed with some green tea nuances. Medium+ acidity that seems to be burried at present by the mass amounts of ripe fruit. Lush and full bodied, almost creamy- like texture coupled with citrus zest and a bit of heat on the back end. This really has some compelling aromatics and really impressive midpalate fat and length. Complete and very stylized and showing lots of potential for future developement.

Luncheon of Champions (Yountville, CA): When I first put my nose to the glass, the intense, pure Riesling/slate aroma brought tears to my eyes. Laced with Mandarin orange, “Texas” grapefruit, lychee, cloudberry, kiwi, kumquat -- and that dominating character of slate. Finish lasts at least half a minute with no sense of heaviness or sweetness. A great wine with many years to go.

This is starting to shut down. Aromatically reticent at first, but this opens with air to show rich fruit and spice over a mineral base, developing some florality and exotic perfumed notes with more time. It's brooding and tightly coiled on the palate though, showing pure fruit and stone but not much else, and certainly not much of the raw power and intensely vivid minerality it had straight on release. Still very impressive with serious presence and length, but it's holding a lot in reserve and really needs to be left alone.

Big damn wine - kinda was not expecting that size. Excellent chalky white earth with some dainty elements that simply get slammed by the size. Could not be drier. Serious shit. Bit of a faux pas as this was served first and ought to have been much later in the line up. I expect this may shut down soon. Let 'em sleep until 2016.

I'm stunned how much this has changed in the half-year since I last tasted this wine. Amazing aromatics of ripe white fruits and mineral salts over honey and exotic floral notes. It's immense in the mouth, concentrated and very ripe but incredibly dynamic with primary fruit flavours that evolving over a few hours and an intense salty minerality underneath. Tremendous length - reminds me of the Unendlich (and not far from it in terms of quality)!

Very powerful, young. Wonderful honey, fruit aromas rise from the glass. Rich mouthfeel. A bit on the hot side at 13.5% alcohol. Very good wine. I hope my remaining bottles last enough to age for a few years at least.

East Village Riesling Extravaganza (New York): This tastes like wine made from rocks - all mineral. Shows layers of stones, slate and salts over hints of lemon and green apple across the nose and palate, with incredible Alpine water-like clarity and purity. Bright acidity keeps this very light on its feet, and this finishes long with a sensation of rocks and salts almost dissolving into your tongue. Fabulous.
