Excellent and complex. The nose starts like a Burgundy - struck match and minerality, subtle citrus. That leads to lime and lemon peel, a subtle bit of grip like grapefruit pith, fresh herbs and mint. Composed and giving, with some viscosity to it. Long finish with medium + acidity. Memorable and different.
Fruity, chewy texture, marmalade but not sweet, a hint of vinegar (va), long. Brought this to a blind tasting where it came at shared first place at half the price of the other wine. Very good value and a very nice wine.

Tasted a lineup of 2016-2020 Hemelrand Vine Garden. After the Cartology, this was rounder, more fruity and also felt a bit warmer/richer (perhaps due to the Roussanne and other warmer grape varieties). 2019 was the most impressive of the lot for me; 2016 was flawed. A replacement bottle showed better, but not the best vintage in my opinion.

Wine is developing in the glass and is really complex. Honeysuckle, pineapple, blossom, almonds. You can feel Chardonnay dominance on the nose. Mouthfeel is "Alheit" driven, mineral, elegant. My third wine, after Cartology and Hereafter Here. Love this one as well.

Citric, clear and bright: lemon, grapefruit and orange blossom. Hint of butter and lees. Fresh sour grapefruit on the palate- a pithy bitterness and some vanilla, brawny acidity which sings on a long electric finish. Developed balance and richness with every extra day - not actually that enjoyable right now, but the structure and complexity suggests this one would be a good candidate for cellaring.

What a lovely field blend. Lively acidity with complex flavours. You could taste the ( I am guessing) the unoaked Chardonnay, rousanne and Chenin. So complex and evolved over the evening

Fun blend! Popped and poured. Complex fruity nose with that nice spicy chenin blanc character. Aromas of green apple, citrus, white peach, biscuits. Decent consentration and acidity, oily mouthfeel. Will try again in a wider glass after giving it some air.

Medium lemon in the glass. More secondary aromas here in comparison to the fruit. Lots of lees, biscuit, toast. The palate attacks with ripe fruit concentration, high acidity and warm alcohol. Much richer than all the previous Chenins tasted from Alheit’s range. Could easily be mistaken for a Chardy. Long, piercing finish.

Took a while to open up but excellent when it did. Although I think I preferred the 2018 vintage of this.

Flat-out gorgeous this white RSA blend (32 % Chardonnay, 25 % Roussanne, 25 % Chenin Blanc, 13 % Verdelho & 5 % Muscat) signed Chris & Suzaan Alheit - vinous jewel of utmost concentration & finesse. Vibrant, expressive nose w intense smoke, white flowers, lemon, lifted aromas of elderflower & gooseberries. Palate shows richness & depth in an oily attack, opening to butter, grapefruit, distinct saline & mineral backbone, a trace of sweetness, lively acidity, layered, poised, finishing lingering, zesty & refreshing!

More easy going than the other wines from this domain, also full bodied and with beautiful acidity as well as some pleasant sweetness.
