  • This has been open for a few days, don't remember exactly when I opened it...in the fridge overnight in between. On the nose: very tropical, with pineapple, loads of guava and soft peach. On the palate: underripe guava, lovely acidity, peach, and maybe a little disjointed from the nose. Didn't like this a lot on opening, but it's growing on me after a few days. Let sit for a while.

  • All sorts of ripe tropical fruits, peaches, and pear on the nose with soft notes of vanilla and coconut from the nicely integrated oak, with hints of flint and smoke. The palate is smooth and very fresh with a fruit profile much like the nose, with some green apple and sour citrus flavors to offset some of the sweetness from the otherwise ripe and very clean mid-palate. Well balanced with sharp acidity to keep it lively, though a bit astringent. The finish is long with lingering minerality. There is definitely an upside to this wine if you have the patience, but it is also very enjoyable now.

  • Decanted 3 hrs. A slight mis pairing with honey pork chops and escarole, a Kabinett would have been a much better fit and the dinner was great – the honeyed pork wasn’t ideal with a dry white. And the wine was fantastic too. Slightly unripe pineapple leads the way with an immediate addition of freshly cut slate and a bit of wet pebbles working around back end for good measure. Impressive integration of acidity which is really in balance in this early stage and I love the sweet closing note. At $33 on Sale this is a big step over the regular Troken and IMHO not all that far off from a Schonleber GG. Excellent.

  • Green apple, pear, and minerality. High acidity and crisp. Long finish.

  • I just have to lead off with stating the fact that this is an insanely delicious bottle of Riesling. Mouthwatering notes of candied lemons, ripe and tangy oranges, and a vein of flinty minerality. The wine is finished off with hints of musky herbs and deliciously piquant apples.
This was absolutely crystalline in its purity and as much as I wanted to savor the bottle, it seemed to evaporate so quickly that it was gone before I knew it.
The level that Frank is making wine at is truly incredible, especially over the last 3-4 vintages. His wines just seem to have another gear and there is not only a beautiful intensity of fruit but most impressively the level of clarity in the wines makes them absolutely irresistible.

  • Super quick taste, but this was so obviously excellent. Tropical fruit, citrus, musky flowers, airy herbs and and spice. Great texture and ripeness on the palate followed by superb mineral grip and acid vut. Great buoyancy and freshness. This will surely be worth following a decade, probably longer.

  • Flinty, mineral and herbal on the nose with a touch of wild yeast and flecks of greengage. A tad richer, ampler and more inviting than the Halgans at this stage, but so crystalline in the glass with laser focused high acid with a salty backbone. It's as if Werner and Frank Schönleber walked up the slopes of Frühlingsplätzchen, grabbed a handful of gravel and slate, squeezed it until liquid came out and bottled that. Insufferably young at this stage, but the raw material is there. Lay these down in the cellar and let the rasp of time polish it. Looking forward to trying the Frühlingsplätzchen GG. AP 32 21
