Light honey yellow. Honey and bosc pear in the wine with lots of mouthfeel. So typically southern Rhône. 60% Viognier, 15% Roussanne, 10% Marsanne. Super value.

Very refreshing with nice yellow stone fruit with a nice peachy vibe followed with mild mild vanilla. A tad bit richer than the 19, which I preferred for the freshness. Either way, a nice drink in the kitchen while standing wine. Drink

This wine always delivers as a solid value and the 2020 hits the mark as expected. Another slightly unusual blend for the S.Rhone dominated by Viognier (60%) along with some Marsanne, Roussanne and Grenache Blanc. This feels a little bit riper and more upfront than the 2019 with lots of honeysuckle, white peach, apricot, violet and orange blossom bursting forth on the nose. The palate is ripe and sumptuously textured with just a hint of oak and a salty minerality coming through. The finish is silky and crisp with plenty of freshness. It hasn't got the poise and definition of the excellent 17 and 18 but it's not far behind, another Guigal white to buy by the case.
A little unbalanced with too much alcohol and lack of acidity - probably because of the grape varietal. The nose has a nice tropical fruit profile with white flowers and a little herbal lift at the finish. In my opinion this wine is best served with food.

Guigal w/ Patrick Will: 60 Viognier, 15 Roussanne, 10 Marsanne, 8 Clairette, 5 Bourboulenc, 2 Grenache Blanc green banana aromas, some element of barrel to the nose, but not too overt. 'Juicy Fruit' aka Plum, palate doesn't give into much oak at all, if any.

E. Guigal Côtes du Rhône Blanc 2020 is a golden yellow, clear white wine, kind of reminds me of a champagne with no bubbles! The nose is initially very fresh and expressive, and there were some aromas of white flowers and peach. But when it reaches the palate, that is where it somewhat goes downhill, lacking in acidity and was simply just not very interesting.
I am not sure if this is a character of Rhone whites, but this felt overly soft and perhaps it is just not a good aperitif wine - Perhaps better paired with pastas and other seafoods. I best sum this up as complex, but not in a good way.
This Southern Rhone Blanc is made of 60% Viognier, 15% Roussanne, 10% Marsanne, 8 % Clairette, 5% Bourboulenc, 2% Grenache blanc.
Domaine E. Guigal is a family winery founded in 1946 in Ampuis. It is one of the most famous producers in the Rhone, and this winery has even been making its own barrels since 2003.

A blend of 60% Viognier, 15% Roussanne, 10% Marsanne, 8% Clairette, 5% Bourboulenc, and 2% Grenache blanc, fermented (around 18C) and aged in stainless steel, 14.5% ABV, total production 700,000 bottles. It is very interesting to see how the basic characteristics of the Viognier (dominant in the blend) are supported and enhanced by the other grape varieties. The Roussanne and Grenache Blanc sing along with the floral aromas on the nose, the Marsanne chimes in with the textural weight on the palate and the Clairette and Bourboulenc play their tune of refreshing acidity. Together they make up a complete and well-constructed wine, harmonious and well-defined, with barely noticeable alcohol and a broad, apricot and acacia finish. Excellent QPR.

Guigal La La New Release (2018) Dinner with Brett Crittenden (Prince Wine Store South Melbourne): A wonderful eminently drinkable white. 5-60% Viognier form the Southern Rhone, most if not all bought form other growers as a finished wine and then blended. Produced in huge volumes.
Medium weight and length. No greatness but no faults. Wonderful QPR

Full silky body of smooth apricot, rubbed sage, with decent acidity. A little bit hot on the finish but otherwise delicious

Excellent as always. The 2020 seems a tad more crisp and acidic than 2019, but still very drinkable... Remains a staple white under $20...
