Interesting thing about Albariño is there are many many producers I’ve never seen in my Minneapolis St. Paul market. Most local stores offer less than 5 on their shelves. This is another great new one for me. God knows there are far too many ‘plain Jane” versions, just like Chardonnay. As someone else mentioned this btl has much in common with Chablis. It starts out a bit too acidic but quickly fleshes out nicely in glass while filling out its flavor profile with an enticing array of citrus & stone fruit and stony mineral. From the wine list at Cane & Canoe in Maui which has been our best overall dinner of the trip to date w/ amazing ocean views nestled in the northwest side of Maui. Anyhow, I’m on the hunt for this Albariño but kinda doubt its in my market. Loved it and delighted to find it on a well thought out wine list.

Well now, this is a powerhouse. Meyer lemon, Palisade peach, and clementine notes coalesce, supported by bracing acidity and a dollop of sea salt. Loads of minerality emerge mid-palate, lingering on the long finish. Terrific, and an inspired match with chile rellenos.

PnP into a Grassl Liberte. Needed something white and refreshing after pruning trees all day and I have a six pack of this. It delivered exactly what I needed. Raul Perez is such a great winemaker. This is the perfect balance of fruity and mineral with a stony finish that draws you to the next sip. Bright acidity in balance with the fruit. Makes me wonder why I chase $$$ bottles when this is readily available and hits the spot so well.

A salty, citrus razor right now. Seashore, lemon/lime, peach and salinity for days. Rather structured and forward right now, could settle in some over the next couple of years. As with so many Perez wines, the value here is hard to beat

A lovely, saline, and lemon Albariño. Reminds me of a cross between Chablis with its mineral finish and Sauvignon blanc with its citrus and slight herbal character. Excellent with seafood.

Highlights of citrus, floral notes, and sea breeze. A little bit of what I’m going call sweet tart and some white peach emerged with air. Acid driven and energetic. Medium finish. Very enjoyable wine.

Interesting white with quite a mineral nose. Acid is very pronounced on the palate however. This needs some time in the cellar to come together. The structure needs some polishing which some rest time should provide. No doubt this will shine a year or two from now.
My first of the 2020s and as always with this wine two years from vintage is not enough to fully integrate the rough edges (what I call the Albariño bite). I expect this, as with the 2019s, to really start singing about 10 months from now. Don’t get me wrong. As my score shows, it’s very good today. But I know this can get to the mid 90s in another year. As always white flowers and lemon on the nose. Mid palate fine but lacking a bit of weight and hopefully resolves in time. A bit of a saline finish but with a bite. I really wish I had more 2019s so I could just forget about all my 2020s till next summer.

Pale gold. Melon and a touch of orange on the nose. In the mouth, pineapple and lime, bright acidity rushes in. Thick and slippery saline follows into the mid. The interplay between mineral and acidity here is incredible. A touch richer than I usually look for but totally willing to overlook because the balance and expression are lovely.

Really interesting and cerebral. Wet stones/minerals lemons , salty. Never tasted this in wine before but it has an oyster finish, like i just ate an oyster with a little lemon on it. As night goes on getting more albarino like with ripe lime borderline granny smith apple. Not your pnp albarino for the pool. Wine is kind of geeky but if you like this style you will love this wine.

First tasted at Cree Wine Co in Clinton by the glass ten days ago; came home with a case. Bright straw-yellow. Nose of orange blossoms and citrus. Orange pith and lemons on the palate, with stony understory and a slight saline touch. Good acid; long finish that coats the back of your mouth. The saline touch made it a great pairing with prosciutto.

Smells briny and of high mineralogy, seashells and lemon granita. Lean and bracing, with a long mineral laced finish. Mineral first, oyster liquor and lemon follow up and carry through the finish. Mineral, mineral, mineral. Wonder what time will bring. Likely hold these for a year or two at least.

A well made wine. Light yellow fruit (peach, apple) flavors and moderate acid with lots of mineral tastes. Good body and a nice finish. Would go well with seafood.

A good value. Crisp with minerals (these are 150 y/o vines after all) and good depth, this drinks not unlike a Sauvignon Blanc, with grapefruit pith, yes a little nectarine, and water stone. Would pair well with shellfish. I like it, but after a 16 Guffens-Heynan cuveé unique, I can easily see which wine I’d prefer to cellar…

See my last note. This stuff is hard to beat for the $$. Raul Perez is some kind of wizard. Galician Chablis.
