  • Pop and pour. On the nose: soft sweet tobacco leaf, wild strawberry, resin, so vibrant, but light. On the palate: so elegant, almost weightless, cherry, wild strawberry, soft blood orange, hi-toned, and finely-grained tannin on the close. A stunning bottle already, but I'm sure this will be fantastic with more bottle age.

  • Tobacco, cherry, strawberry, stone fruit. Smooth and dry. Will age well.

  • First taste of the 2019 Montevertine; super fresh strawberry, dark cherry, and red currant; violet, mint, orange peel, and a hint of spice. Just pure and delicious as usual. A little riper than some vintages, but well judged acidity keeps it vibrant. Should age well, but also will be irresistible in youth.

  • You can sense the potential here, although this is still quite young and unformed. The structure and oak are a bit too noticeable at the moment, but there is noting overdone or forced here. The oak is deft, the fruit is polished and the tannins are quite fine. This just needs time.

  • Decanted 2 hours. Medium ruby, perhaps less extracted than the 2018 in comparison. Dark cherries, iron, earth, mineral, purple flower notes. Beautiful balance on the palate, with plenty of tannin to suggest a long life ahead. This is an excellent wine but I didn’t find it as immediately approachable or open as the 2018. It will be fun to see how this develops with more time in the bottle.

  • A brilliant wine as always, in all senses, the nose is already open and delicately seducive, cherry fruit and wood fruits, a tad of spices. Structure is impeccably elegant, already approachable, but of course can face a long ageing with its bright acidity. For sure the complexity of the nose will grow a lot, but it is already irresistible. Pretty sure a couple would finish the bottle without even noticing.

  • Will be lovely, but far too young and the oak and structure stick out in the brief time I had with it. I seem to recall Galloni describing it as creamy and that level of richness surprised me; the terroir typicity poked out a bit at the end and a sense of gentle grip came into play. I’d age these for some time if I had more.

  • Antonio Galloni wrote that this is a steal...and it is ! The wine is absolutely gorgeous, sangiovese sensuality at its best, not uber complex or deep at this stage but the material is there to happen with a couple of years in the cellar. Not as complex as the Pergole Torte, but excellent flavors authority, and excellent finish, all wrapped in an elegant cloth.

  • A colder vintage, the wine here has added texture and above all spices on the nose.
On the palate, it remains compact, with a lower juice compared to the delicacy of Pian del Ciampolo. But it is definitely more structured with an emerging complexity that we perceive in an already racy finish with a crystalline length.
