Typical baroque style of Pichler; full bodied, concentrated yellow fruits, hints of boytritis and loaded with minerality. Luckily, it maintains freshness, energy and Riesling-power.

HDH auction tasting at Tru (Chicago, IL): Ok, wow, nphase worried I'd hate this but I think everyone was pleased that I was wrong. This is incredibly good. Sappy and thick, with heaps of botrytis and sweet yellow fruit. Very powerful, but incredibly good cut at the same time. This makes me think a little bit of G-Max...
"Best bottle for about 100 Euro" (Daniels Home): Colour: Light and bright golden color. Nose: A more "darker" nose. Citrus, stone fruit, kohlrabi and a just a hint of honey alongside a nice "crushed wet stones" mineral component. Palate: Very mineral driven with a taste like salty stones and some butter. Very creamy & opulent but with a lot of power on the mid-palate. You can recognize the high alcohol. Baroque style. Very long finish.
Gets even better in combination with food.

Drunk in the same flight as 1998 K-R Saumagen Auslese trocken, therefore the score is a bit lower, because it has not the elegance and vibrant electricity of the Saumagen. Light and bright golden color. Ripe fruits in nose and palate: acacia, ripe yellow fruits. A bit too much from everything: fruit, alcohol etc. therefore not that focused. Long finish. Great wine!

'Tall bottles' (Austria, Germany, Alsace) with Thai food (Hartford, CT): Bright gold colour. Fantastic nose with lots of petrol, peach, citrus fruits, earthy minerals, brown spices and hints of honey. This is just spectacular on the palate. The flavours echo the nose but are seamlessly integrated with lots of power and intensity. Full bodied with a creamy texture, good acidity and an incredible finish that leaves the mouth filled with honeyed earthy flavours for almost a minute. Stunning.

Served at 55 degrees straight from the cellar. Brilliant gold the wine has a penetrating nose of peach, citrus and crushed river stone. Not flambouyant but focused. Copious glycerin makes this wine coat the mouth with the predominant mineral followed by lime peel, pear and a touch of petrol. The finish goes forever with the taste sensation moving out to the edge of the tongue after a few minutes. The wine just keeps getting bigger with time in the glass.

Starting to evolve but still very youthful; a beatifully minerally wine, decadently rounded off by a honeyed note, botrytis in evidence.
