Tasted this wine at the Walkabout Tasting at Crystal Wines - Valley Point Chilean Extraordinaire.
Ash on the nose followed by ripe cherries and a smooth palate. In the glass, the wine shines bright like a ray of sunshine in early summer, providing good warmth, comfort without the scorching heat and sunburnt.
Keep for the next 3 to 5 years before even thinking about opening the next bottle.

What a waste of money! We didn't get much taste even when it finally opened after two hours. Big, but tasted like a generic red. At least I can lay my curiosity about Carmenere to rest, as I did with Malbec. On that basis, I guess it was worth it. We will stay home with CA wines at reasonable prices.

LCBO Tasting #1 I went in expecting to be Bombarded by those Chilean and Carmenère (92%) trademarks but the 8% Petit Verdot balanced it out very well.
Lovely soft bell peppers on the nose along with red chilies, and violet. The bell pepper and chili also followed through on the tongue but were subtle just like the nose. Some raspberry, jam, blackberry, and cherry came along for the ride. Medium tannins, acidity, and finish.
This wasn't the best of the tasting, but it's the one I want to dance with.

Un très beau mariage entre le végétal (cassis, basilic) et le fruit qui est presque opulent. Des tanins ronds et enveloppant. Bonne longueur, très beau et unique.

Blend of 92% Carmenère and 8% Petit Verdot. The elegant, highly aromatic nose delivers complex black currant, pepper spice, cassis, herbaceous, grilled pepper, and oak spice aromas. The elegance continues on the slender, medium-full bodied palate with lovely, balanced aroma replays on the flavour profile which is supported by fresh, balanced acidity and elegantly refined and integrated tannins. Herbals, grilled pepper, oak spice, and currant notes linger on the finish, with excellent length.

By the glass at Fuegos de Apalta (the Winery Restaurant at Viña Montes). Nose is clayey and dark fruited, ripe plums and licorice notes, quite ripe and oaky but not offensive. Palate is a little rough, sweet and oaky with cherries and thick damp earth. It has nice elements but I think they are just out of balance right now. Seems like a wine that needs a lot of time, but honestly probably not worth the price of entry for me.

Drank with the V is for Vino group Zoom monthly meetup. Wine of the month. Smells like a Napa Cab. Red, ripe cherry. A little spice notes. Earthy aroma. Even a subtle green pepper. On the palate, medium/high acidity, medium to full body. Really interesting. Like a cab, but not. Perfectly balanced, a little spice, fruity, juicy. Really solid. Definitely needs to age. Too young right now.
After an hour, amazing. Really opened up and softened significantly. Might go up to 93 points.

On the nose: black and blue fruits, ripe plums, blueberries, blackberries, a hint of vanilla from the oak comes through.
On the palate: this is really rich and lush, notes of baked plums, vanilla, cinnamon, with notes of herbs and a really light green bell pepper note. The tannins are find and this wine is quite drinkable, but will develop complexity with age. Will hold on to my other bottle.

Saturated cassis, eucalyptus, boxwood, and smoky mineral nose. Solid, rich, and weighty palate with very good replays and length.
4.5/5

11/16/2023 - Sharan Callay Does not like this wine:
It was heavy and cloying with no finesse. Just an abundance of fruit and tannins. Brought on the most awful migraine.
