It has been so long since I last tasted this wine, I forgot I had tasted it before. The wine is on the light side, with hints of dried flowers, floral stems, cedar, bright red fruits, and tobacco. The entry is soft, but the finish turns rustic in an old-school, classic manner. Drink from 2023-2028.

Sent me straight to Oz, as there was a hint of menthol and a sweet spot right in the midpalate of ripe sweetness. It was a lovely wine and light on its toes for a wine coming up to 50.

UK Wine-pages Pomerol Off-line (The Alba, London): Noticeably darker than the 1982, intriguing, elusive, complex nose with spice, earth, hints of prune, underlying red fruit. Fully mature on the palate but still quite vigorous, earthy, spicey, perhaps more dark fruited (plum?) than the nose, very good length elegant finish. Lovely. 92-94.

Wine-Pages Pomerol Offline (Alba, London.): Still a good colour, slightly deeper than the 82. Dense, fleshy garnet. Good fruit with slightly tarry elements on the nose. Positive. Lovely textre, smooth, nicely flavoured and decent length. This is very good. **** Still going strong ater three hours in the glass. Certainly one of the wines of the evening.

This is traditionally styled, slightly austere Pomerol that is on the downside. Drink up.
