  • Deep reddish-purple garnet in color. Full, forward, & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with overtones of dusty/earthy & spice notes of cloves & pepper, herbs, anise, dark cocoa, iron & minerals. Full bodied with a good concentration of well balanced, & smooth textured, lush, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries & mulberries with spices, herbs, minerals & dark cocoa. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but like past vintages, it should develop further with several years of additional aging at which time it may merit a higher score (93+). Very good QPR from a consistent producer of excellent Zinfandels.

  • The savory side of Zin. Vibrant acidity, black raspberry, pepper, mineral finish.

  • This is very good but also a bit overwhelming in its youth: big brawny blackberry liqueur fruit with a judicious frame of wood spice, good acidity and enough substance that there’s no perceptible heat. The elements are all in balance but everything is turned up to 11. I think six months to a year in bottle might get it to stop shouting, but even if it doesn’t, IT’S STILL A SOLID VALUE (excuse me).

  • Sandalwood and incense aromas popped from the glass. Really a lovely start. Blueberry, bramble and spice are all backlit by live wire acidity. All of the elements really popped with this one tonight. I thought this was super. This was really interesting and just keep drawing me back for another sip. Good value here. Re-buy. 94

  • Cherry pie, burnt rubber, rocks, blueberries, blackberries. A hint of oak. Quite fruit forward but with a bit of funk. Silky tannins leaving a gentle grip on the finish. Medium acidity. Smooth. Drink now. Nice approachable zin.

  • As a base Zinfandel this was quite lovely. Fruit forward. I've only had Zinfandels a few times over the years and never found them too appealing since sometimes they would come out sweeter but this one makes me interested in them in the future. I'll be looking at more Zinfandel from Bedrock. Tasting great now, but still slightly tannic even after being open for 3 days. Tasted each day and it was great until the end. This can be enjoyed now or can easily be held onto for 5-7+ years.

  • On the nose- Big dark berries, brambly wild berries, dark cherries, dark blackberries, dark blueberries, jammy berries, mix berry pie, licorice, wild herbs, sage, graphite, wild red flowers.

On the palate- Big dark berries and brambly wild berries and dark cherries, dark blackberries and dark blueberries, jammy berries and mix berry pie, licorice and wild herbs, sage and graphite with some wild red flowers on the finish. This wine is drinking KILLER now but needs about 40min to really open up and show its stuff. I see this being able to age another 7-10+ years if not longer with no problem.

  • Another great vintage of this wine. It benefited from a little air as it was initially very primary and tangy. Always one of the best QPR around.

  • Drank over 3 days. My favorite iteration of OVZ so far.

On opening, you are greeted with an explosive perfumed bouquet. Violets, cherries and generous sprinkles of sweet and savory spice jump forth from the glass as you give it a few swirls.

A fresh expression of dark fruits that carry a lot of depth follow on the palate - plums, blackberries and black cherries coat the tongue. Bright red fruit acidity keeps the palate in balance as the plush tannins slide down your throat into a long finish.

This is a wine thats immediately drinkable PnP and still develops depth as it gets more air. A blending masterclass from the Bedrock team.

  • PnP and followed for a few days. Boysenberry, blueberry, brambly blackberry, minerals, earth, red cherries, and a bit of smoke on the nose. Plum, blackberry, cranberry, earth, minerals, herbs, and spices on the palate. Nice mouthwatering acidity, grippy tannins, med-long finish. This was a nice, fruity, perfumed zin with enough acidity to keep it lively. It'll probably be better in a year or so, but it's quite good right now.

  • TNs from after an hour in the glass.

On the nose - this smells like a young Bedrock OVZ. The first thing I notice is iron/aluminum followed by fruity bramble/boysenberry, a bit of bubblegum, cranberry, bright floral elements, and a dash of spices.

Medium bodied, serious but approachable, and just the right amount of acidity. Palate of sweet zin berries, violets, spices, and a bit of mineral. Heavy but plush tannins quickly dry the mouth out and bring in a wave of dark minerals. Finish is lengthy and complex. Graphite, granite, mint, sage, thyme, black olive skin, a dash of black pepper, and juicy berries to keep everything pulled together.

I am just amazed how well this is showing this young. Paired well with a roasted pork chop and pesto pasta.

  • Iron nose, more iron on the palate along with ripe cherry, cranberry, sage and pepper notes.
A more “fruit” driven Old Vine. Good right from pop and pour. Another early drinker. Drink or hold.

  • Prototypical Cali Zin. Ripe fruit but still bright. Nothing out of place. I’m going to drink through these quickly.
