I feel the need to update/supersede my last review. Almost no funk on this bottle. I like funk, but the last bottle it was much too close to moldy rather than savory notes. This bottle was much more in line with what you would expect. I'm not as anxious to drink the last few bottles I have.

Paired it with Steak and Lobster and was outstanding. Have had these in my cellar since release and only 2nd one opened both were great. Smooth with heavy, dark fruit. Can't wait for the next one.

Quite good, but a few years ago it would have been a 94-95. The valley floor fruit has softened. It's more elegant now, and everything is integrated, but I distinctly recall what it was like. Probably OK to keep cellared for a while; won't fall off.

Quality bottle of Napa Cab in a very nice place. Black fruit, licorice and flowers with a long smooth finish. Wish I had a cellar full! If scoring 94-96.

A beautiful cabernet that still exhibits bright, vibrant modest fruit, cassis, black olives. The wine is seamless and smooth on the pallet. The 05 Stone Place is solid and should be that way for a few years more. This is the last of 3 bottles from the cellar... too bad. Highly recommended!

This was excellent. Actually opened it over 24 hours before consuming the majority of it. Opened and decanted on day 1, drank a glass and poured it back into bottle. On Day 2 finished the bottle, only corked it, no gas or anything and it was just as good so that tells me it'll go awhile. Well made, kind of wish I kept it for another decade or two.

Well made wine with tannins that have melted gently into the body of the wine and created a very smooth, full feel and flavor. The "stone" is ever present and brands this wine with a unique character.

These folks know what they are doing, this one is still drinking real fine. I really like this wine. I was able to get a couple of 2007's, l can't wait to try them.

APPEARANCE: Near opaque black ruby red, no significant sediment = 4/4 BOUQUET: Mainly black fruits, berries, blackberry jam, some molasses, light touch of wood = 12/14 TASTE: Moderate body, rich mouth feel, Berry fruit, touch of light tannins tighten the edges, medium finish = 14/18 PREFERENCE: Standing for a couple hours then decanted shortly before serving, opened a bit over the next couple hours but consistent through the evening = 3/4

Lush candy like aromas of rich black/purple dark fruit, black currant, boysenberries, and dark cherries with an elegant sweetness and hints of coco. Lush, rich and full bodied, some cedar and tobacco notes all nicely integrating and ageing nicely. Good Stuff!

Out of the temp control for 12 hrs standing, open for 30 mins, in glass not decanted. Wonderful nose, still fruit forward. Elegant, full body. Evolved over the next hour.... Then I feel asleep in the chair..... Great wine

Great big napa cab with an explosive nose and huge dark and red fruit up front. Medium finish. Failed to evolve in the glass as I had hoped, but still a very good wine.

Northern NJ/NY Offline (Cafe Monet - Millburn, NJ): Disappointing bottle. The entire wine seemed out of balance for my tastes with bold, ripe blackberry, blueberry, and cherry flavors on both the nose and palate with a very low level of acidity. The boldness of the fruit appealed to some, but to me it seemed out-of-balance. The alcohol seemed to spike a touch for me too. Oh well, just not my cup of tea.

Decanted and immediately consumed, over 2.5 hours. Dark, rich color, oak, casis, plum and a slight bit of green on the nose (my wife actually said spaghetti with red sauce!). Medium+ weight, definately fruit-forward but rich in fine-grained tanins and oak. This has the capacity to evolve into an outstanding wine.

Wine of the night. Outshined the wines like Saxum James Berry, Delectus Cuvee Julia and Jones Family Cab.

August 2008 Napa and Santa Cruz Mtn Trip; 8/9/2008-8/15/2008: Very jammy screaming Cali Cab. A shade short on the finish. Dad thought this was top 4 wine of the trip.
