Nose: violet, hawthorn berry, gamey, licorice, spices notes: Still very dark color, medium palate. The nose was quite complex and interesting as it suggests quite a few more years of cellaring before it fully matures. My first time from this maker and I think I should be a bit more patient and wait a few years before trying this again. Drink: 2026- 2040 Rating: 90

Sat Night Chillin in the East!: See previous notes - this bottle did not have the issue of heat. Not one of the better vintages for me but overall still enjoyable.

CB Wine Night #17 (turned out to be the last CB Wine Night) - WT Last Day!: Took some time to open up but overall, nice drinking and enjoyable. Only thing was i felt there may be a slight tinge of heat damage which may have rocked the bottle a little. Open now 92/93

Fill level for this bottle is lower than other 5 bottles in the case. It's a shame - Rostain's Cote Blonde is one of my most favourite wines. As expected, accelerated ageing, some fruit is detectable, but too much oxidation. Drinkable, but I opted to add a few spoons of sugar, some spices and cook the most expensive pears in wines I ever made (beating a previous record with Chateau Canon).

A reliable and consistent performer since I opened my first bottle c5 years ago. Improves after c 1 hour of removing the cork. Good nose and length. Still has plenty of life

Jamet and Rostaing at the Harwood Arms (Harwood Arms, Fulham): Deep ruby/garnet core, pale narrow rim. Showing pure dark fruit on the nose with a touch of meat and a herbal edge. Medium bodied, composed, elegant, more red-fruited than the nose, vibrant acids, very good length harmonious finish. Excellent, drinking well.

Garnet colour. Raspberries, redcurrants, pepper and eucalyptus on the nose. Soft and round, though not much backbone, with a decent length finish. Nice juice, drinking well now.

On first pop, bacon fat, and then florals, raspberry, and a slight green, herbal quality that isn't able to detract from the open knit, Burgundian nose. Feminine in style, soft tannins, with red berries and minerals on the palate. Great example of valuing producer over vintage. Drink soon.

Two bottles served, identical and impeccable. Very elegant, Burgundian, yet true to the Côte Blonde, certainly a feminin Côte-Rôtie. I do still find a bit of a herbal note here, not off-putting, just there - quite fresh. Mr. Hede loved it and ordered the second bottle. #LaCocotte

Blackberry, cassis, dark chocolate, dark earth and black olive. The faintest hint of sweet spice emerges under the fruit after an hour of air time. A sweetness and silkiness to this vintage. Decanted 45 minutes.

Lovely depth to the nose - smoky, mineral with fine fruit and notes of earth and savoury spices. On the palate a bit acidic with lots of minerality and fine, slightly lean fruit. Lacking a bit of generousity but very long and elegant. I doubt that it will improve. 91-92

An evening with Ib B (Frederiksberg): Very different from above. Herbs & herbs, quite tight, quite young – needs air, I think. Acidity is bright, the fruit is still sweet and primary –on the second day, herbal notes are still very present. Wait for this, I think. 91+ point.

Deep red color.aromas of black cherries, bulls blood, tobacco and wood spices. Thick, ripe, complex fruit in the mouth with great depth and structure and superb persistence on the palate. Both elegant and powerful, this beautifully structured wine is just at the beginning of its peak drinking period.

(Northern Rhone but Hermitage meeting #2 at Arnoldo's) dark purple color with bit lighter rim subtle northern Rhone aroma, below expectations, almost non-existent med-body, low fruits level, some spices, dry tannins, med balanced, , seems that this specific bottle lost its power and livelihood. the little that remained fades out within 15-20 min in the glass. no significant aftertaste.

Three reds at Abood's Christmas dinner: Arrowood, Allemand & Rostaing (Michel's): Quite a different character than the Allemand. This was all about sweet blackberry and boysenberry fruit, violets and spice. It’s a showy and flirtatious wine, with the acidity providing more structure than tannins. In fact, if it wasn’t for the pert acidity, the fruit would come off seeming a bit jammy. Drinking quite nicely now. While I do find it very tasty, I wish it showed a little bit more personality. A-.

This one is right. My last one was corked but today I rejoice because the bottle is perfect. The wine inside? Similarly perfect. Everything worked together in synergy. The acid highlighted the fruit. The tannin smoothed the acid. The fruit flavored the tannin. Color was beautiful. Smell only got better with time. Texture of the wine is glossy and sumptuous. What else to say? Buy it in a restaurant, you can drink it out if the bottle. if you have the chance pour it an hour in advance. Hold it for a while, the edges are brick-ish but not "old" yet. Incidentally, the 2009's are going to put you on your back. Knock out wines. I was with Rene last week tasting and the wine out of the barrel is beyond anything man could achieve alone.

Delicious and very approachable, displaying quality and balance. Black cherries and roasted peppers. On the long finish there is fine minerality to complement the sweet, soft, tannins. dg
