Pnp with curry at home. Fully mature with a light to medium golden color. Still good acidity and freshness, citrus, candied lemon but also a touch of bitterness on the mid palate. Would drink up.

Light golden colour. Nose: Lots of apples, sweet lemon and flinty minerality. Petroleum, quince, white peaches, white currants, sweet almonds, marzipan, hint of birch wood smoke. Great nose. (90p) Taste: Quite intense taste; lots of apples, citrus and stony/flinty minerality. Rich body. The wine is dry, but mature fruit and acidity gives it a feeling of roundness and slight sweetness. The exit and aftertaste displays more stone fruit bitterness. (88p) Mature wine which drinks extremely well now, but will probably keep well for another 3-5 years, if not longer. This is Hugel’s entry level Riesling and has always been a great buy, with consistently high quality, clean fruitiness and longevity. Despite its obvious quality, class and purity, it’s missing real complexity and remains somewhat one dimensional. Total score 89 points.

Served to us blind by the sommelier the guesses were Alsace or Australian Riesling. This wine is very mellow in a good way, a true food wine and went fantastic with the beautiful grilled scallop with almonds & yuzu butter.

Under an agglomerated cork (Ugh). This is now the last bottle of this wine that I did not realize I had, and it is holding up well. A slight golden tinge on the color hints at its age. On the palate, tons of lemon, a bit of minerality, and just a tiny suggestion of petrol. On the palate? Dry as a bone, with vibrant acidity and a admirable finish. Honestly, this might have scored higher if it had a "real" cork or, even better, a screw cap. Very Good. thedrunkencyclist.com

This is not a mind-blowing wine, but it is a solid example of the variety and region. Bright citrus and a hint of petrol--not the most profound wine, but a delight to drink. Very Good. Thedrunkencyclist.com

Work wine tasting - Triplets: Light and crisp with a nicely fresh Riesling character. No great depth or complexity, but showing well. Good aperitif or seafood style. Has put on a little weight to round itself out over the last four or five years. ***

Simply delicious. The bottle age is evident with the petrol on the nose, but also plenty of lime, candied lemon peel, a bit floral. Palate continues in the same direction with the lime and citrus notes particularly pronounced. Cleansing minerality in the finish with plenty of acidity to keep it fresh. Finish could be a bit longer, but everything else is there.

Well. This is a case of "Really? I have some of that?" Apparently, I bought three of these way back in 2009 and I have held onto them since then. Good thing it's an Alsatian Riesling, since they can endure. I popped this watching the Tour, waiting for my wife to come home from work. Luckily, she was a bit late and I got to tear through this wine. Still great fruit and acidity, there is no hurry with this wine. Not a gigantic blockbuster, but there are few wines that I would opt for in a pinch over this one. Very Good. thedrunkencyclist.com

The color is clear, radiant, gold. The smells are notable as this wine is poured suggesting heightened aromatics. The smells are petroleum, floral, honeyed, and lime. Tastes are lemon, grapefruit, saline, orange, clove, not quite ripe pear, and subtle minerality. The finish lingers. the body is full, and the acidity seems to be integrated and not pronounced. This tastes good, but is this flabby for the varietal?

Thanksgiving Wines (Farpointe Cellar): A lively nose of lime zest and tropical fruit, there was a creaminess to it that carried some stone and floral notes. The initial attack on the palate had crushed rock and sour lime. The acid was pretty good, but the mid-palate and finish fell off too quickly.

Farge: Lys gul.

Very nice dry Alsacian reisling enjoyed New Year's Eve with good CT wine buddies neighborbill and sidboy and other good friends. Very good QPR wine, definitely recommend this wine. Clear, pale yellow, slightly tart and crisp, good mouth feel. Nose of citrus, lemon grass and honey, primary flavors of granite, citrus and well balanced acid.

Not bad, but pretty one dimensional. Limes and grapefruit were the only tastes that came through, a slight minerality, and nose was rather subdued. For this price point, I have had better bottles.

Semi-Blind Whites (Our House -- Philadelphia): Sorry, Jean. On this night, the garden variety Hugel Rieslnig was third best in the blind flight. Petrol blew off leaving brown sugar, a little nuttiness. Very pale color. A touch of fruit, but this required a lot of coaxing. The palate was very subdued. Plain with good acidity. The finish was fine, but this could have been better.

Fresh nose, some citrus but mainly mineral. Picks up a little weight on the mid-palate but really crisp and elegant. A lovely aperitif or simple fish/oyster wine developing a little on the moderate finish. **1/2

Tasting with Etienne Hugel: 6/29/09: This showed much better today. Red delicious apples on the nose, and maybe some cherries? Great mouthfeel on this dry riesling. Great acidity. Tasty stuff. 87-88
2/10/09: Muted nose. High acidity. Nice finish. Clean. Good. 86-87
