Purchased for $35 and tasted for #tawnytuesday. Ruby on color with Tawny hues on the rim. On the nose, starts off with a medicinal cherry note, but not off-putting at all. Hints of caramel as the wine warms. On the palate, caramel, butterscotch and hazelnut. Slightly on the sweet side. Fantastic acidity and a long finish. However, there's a slight bit of heat. Not much, but it's noticable. Overall, this is a simple and easy-to-understand wine. But that's one of the best things about it. Simple is sometimes better. This would be great to share with friends, when company is thw main focus and not the wine. I like this.

Quite good, but not amazing Exotic wood on the nose (sandalwood?) alongside dried black cherries and some toast notes Medium to medium- body. This is not a thick wine Medium sweet but a lingering finish of ripe dark fruits 90-91

Purchased for $35 and served in a Riedel Vinum Port Glass. Clear amber in color with sight traces of ruby. Very light aromas of honey, strawberry, vanilla. On the palate, there's an unpleasant "cough syrup sweet cherry" flavor and a hint of raisin and hazelnut. Extremely short finish. This is one of the lowest scores I've given a 10-Year and is a solid pass. Grade: B-

Medium tawny color. Light intensity aromas of honey, prunes, strawberry jam, and nuts. Sweet, low acidity, low tannins, high alcohol, full body, medium flavor intensity, and long finish. Flavors of rhubarb, cooked red cherries, honey, and strawberry syrup.

Tasting of Sandeman Ports at Quinta do Seixo (Quinta do Seixo, Douro Valley, Portugal): A bit of an imbalanced package. Pretty nice in some aspects, rather disappointing at others. The nose was pleasant enough - with whiffs of mahogany wood and walnuts drifting in and out of a core of cherry liquor aromas. The palate started out yummy enough - showing notes of toffee, honey and some red cherries; these laced with little bits of chalk and spice. The finish was really truncated though, with the wine more or less falling off the cliff past the midpalate. Not unpleasant - just a bit meh as a package.

Bottled 2018: bottle is open for 24 hours, purple red (rather dark for a 10 Year Tawny), smells of hazelnuts and eucalyptus, light to medium body, not overly sweet, in the mouth hazelnuts, a little bit of almonds and a lot of acidity, in the aftertaste hazelnuts, a little bit of almonds and a little bit of acidity, good length (30 sec), not a complex 10 Year Tawny, perhaps two years of bottle maturity would improve this wine.

Tasted on site. Clear reddish/burgundy color port wine with nice oak presence, some light residual sugar notes with some light cherry notes. Average body. Nice port wine with good amount of complexity.

Medium tawny in color, this fortified wine revealed orange rind, caramel and creme brulee on the nose. The mouth feel brought raisins, dried figs and toasted walnut to the sweet, juicy tannins. The finish was medium-long in length with added notes of dried prunes, keeping the heat in check. 20% abv.
Purchased for $30US/750ml, this is a thoroughly enjoyable, excellent example of 10 Year Tawny.

2016 Port Harvest Tour; 9/18/2016-9/25/2016 (Portugal): Bottles in 2016. Clear amber in color. Light orange spice, with hints of toffee and a touch of spirit on the palate. Full-bodied with a long, slightly spirity finish.

Red with a tawny edge. Coffee and walnut aromas and much more expressive than the imperial reserve tasted alongside. Spicy Flavours, red cherry and hints of blackberry, a step up from the Imperial but have a preference for other port houses.

“Port”, Flight 2, Wine 1: The wine was medium garnet in colour and offered ripe and dried fruit, toffee, spices, mushroom and a touch of honey on the medium-intense to intense nose. On the palate the wine showed dried fruit, toffee, honey, spices and nuts. It was sweet, with good, medium to medium-plus acidity, fully resolved tannin, moderate heat from the alcohol and good length. This medium-bodied Tawny did not have much complexity, but was reasonably balanced and had a certain elegance to it. Solid. 86+

Clear and bright, medium tawny colour and presence of legs. The nose is clean and fully developed, with medium+ intensity aromas of caramel, toasted almonds, dried figs, orange peel, walnut and prunes. The wine is sweet with a medium acidity, low soft tannins, high alcohol, medium+ body and medium+ intensity flavours of prunes, dried figs, walnut and toasted almonds. Medium+ finish. It's a very good quality wine with a decent complexity, a nice fruit concentration and a decent length finish. However it could be even more complex. Drink now, it will not develop in the bottle, it's already fully developed.

Aromas of caramel, maple syrup and interesting notes of cashew/almond brittle. Dark chocolate toffee. On the palate it's nutty, savory and has a nutmeg note to it. Creme bruleé shell, phyllo dough and honeyed nuttiness of baklava. Dried red berry. Tasty!

The color had more of a reddish tinit than I would like, which initially made me think this would be more of a fruit driven tawny, but the taste was splendid, with some torrefaction and caramel flavors which provides a sense of maturity to this wine. Dried fruits, lovely acids and a lingering finish. Very nice.

Thought the molasses and nut tones were very nice on the nose. The palate had nice floral notes, sweet cherry, blackberries and molasses. Being a neophyte to Port, I was impressed by how delicate this seemed...I was expecting something far more unforgiving.

Part of my 100 year tasting of Sandeman Porto. A bit hot, though mine was the first pour after the cork stopper had been pulled. May have softened a bit with aeration. Intense and youthful, with high-toned aromatics escaping the bracing fruit and roasted nuttiness, along with typical vanillin and raisin tastes. Always a nice and enjoyable tawny.

Tawny ruby in color, acid is medium high, alcohol high, tannins are medium, finish is long.
Aromas of raisins, cassis, vanilla, cedar.
On the palate, rich caramel, raisins, walnuts, vanilla, a touch of woody cedar or oak.
Good, was served at room temperature, would recommend chilling to 55-60 fahrenheit.

Mostly port wines, with Andre Ribeirinho and friends in Lisbon (Instituto da Vinha e do Vinho in Lisbon, Portugal): While the wine showed much pleasing richness, it came across as just a bit too "pasty" for my tastes. So I am being rather neutral in my approach to this, as some drinkers would score higher! Tasted earlier in this flight, the Sandeman Old Tawny Porto was more pleasing to me, with more evident grip...
