Pleasantly surprised how well this wine help up over the many years of cellaring. Coteaux du Languedoc clearly decided to save money on labels to put it back into their red wines. So never judge a bottle by its cover. Smooth rich finish - enjoyed by whole family. Certainly seemed worth the 92 points by WS.

I suspect that either my last two bottles were flawed, or the wine was just in a dumb phase. Tonight, it was very good-- opaque wine showing layers of dark fruits. Well balanced. Not expecting any further development, but this last bottle was excellent.

Am in spring wine cellar cleaning mode and looking for a glass of something that's collecting dust to drink with lunch. Sort of remember buying this, but def. had forgotten it existed. Really impressed with the quality and the condition -- def time to drink up, but can't imagine this has declined much if at all.
The wine is full-bodied and wrapped in a really smooth/creamy layer of chocolate/roasted coffee bean. If this used to have tannins, it sure doesn't anymore. Inside is a core of cherry, blackberry, and plum. For all its richness, the wine finishes clean and savory, with menthol, roasted thyme, menthol, and just enough acid to keep you coming back.
Looks like this used to go for around 14 bucks; whoa. Had I known this was so age-worthy and delicious, would have bought a ton more, but have probably said that about 100 wines at this point. Thanks, hindsight.

This one is really coming together! Big, bold. Great red and dark fruits. Someone wrote that these should be drunk by 2014. My experience is different -- I'm sure this has several more years at least. (The bottle states two different end dates 2019 and 2012!) This wine will work anywhere you need a big Languedoc wine. Winter cassolet, tomato-based pasta, Provencal dinner, etc.

It should not be past it's drinking window and has been stored well, not worth a second glass, maybe a bad bottle.. Cork was okay. Maytage's note captures my experience.1st day 78 pts. I left the bottle open over night and put the cork back in in the am. Mike and I finished the bottle later that night while watching MSU lose. Dramatically better, some blackberry but not a lot of fruit, enjoyed it.

Good solid wine. In it's drinking window, but has some years left. Good bottom layer of dark fruit. Soft tannins. Blended well. Nothing outstanding, but a perfectly fine wine for tortilla pizza and salad. (worked less well with the spicy asian greens salad than I anticipated.) I decanted this and recommend doing it.

Dark notes of cherries and blackberries on the nose. Taste of chocolate, dark berries, wood plum and stone. This is a really heavy wine with tannins still present dry. It has a thick frutiness and it is a bit sweet. I think this id on the way down due to the fading acidity. Drank a bottle a couple of years ago and liked it better then. It seems to have lost its balance a bit now.
Day two I had to edit my note to the better - the fruit came together and it was more subtle.

- Crimsom color and aromas of blackberry and black currant. It's balanced and has flavours of blackberry and cherry with a medium/full body. Juicy texture with a medium finish - Wonderful. If I can wait another for the last bottle in the cellar, it may loose that last little tannic bite in the back of the cheeks.

A very nice effort which offers pleasant drinking right now. Best to heavier foods. Nose exhibits garrigue and dark mature fruit. The oak component is a bit more integrated compared to last tasting, but the alcohol shines through in the end palate. (score is 88-90)

After being open for 48 hours this is starting to open up. Beautiful aroma of red raspberry, dried cherry, floral action, and creamy vanilla. I wish I could pump this smell through my air conditioner. Full bodied and very big. The dried cherry really comes through strong along with a black pepper and vanilla cream taste. Long and tannic finish. This is a big boy that will easily last for 15-20 years. ($20)

This is an excellent companion to heavier foods like Boeuf Bourgignon. Being a rather typical an pleasurable effort from the Languedoc and Roussillon I still can not get pass the "unbalanced" behaviour. The fruit is going one way and the oak another in this wine. The two does not seem to be good friends. I still enjoy this wine and it certainly provides a good QPR. Honestly, the experience is saved by a long finish and a rich and voluptuous texture. I wish the balance was there though. Recommended. (Score is 89-90)

Tonight the 2006 Les Verrieres showed a less pleasant side with a very perfumed and backward nose. Still a well made wine, I do not remember it like this from the last tasting. Palate is still massive and quite enjoyable though. No official score because of this (87-88).

Av very interesting experience. Massive fruit attack, lots of creamy baked vanilla - almost smoky. Kirsch, boysenberries, licorice and of course low grinded black pepper. With flirty but structured tannins, this is a rather rough acquaintance which could have been better integrated, but as a companion to food it is excellent. Recommended. (Served to oven roasted breast filet of Turkey with salt baked beetroots, red wine reduction and fried mushrooms with garlic.)

Opaque, tannic wine. Over two nights it did not seem to open much despite several hours with the bottle open on the counter. I have not had this before so I have no idea if the tannins will integrate/soften with age. Good wine if you don't mind the tannins.

Nice bouquet of dark fruit and spice. Body is light and burgandian in style, very fine mouth drying tannins. I think it has the potenital to develop further with bottling, but compared to the 2004, not quite as interesting to me. It is definitely more elegant compared with the 04 so it really depends on your preference. For me, just not as complex as the 2004 and much lighter, but it's still young. Drank it over 3 days and the wine definitely opened up on the 2nd day, showing potential.

Deep purple almost black, restrained nose of dark fruit, tar and a touch of spice. Explodes in your mouth, great feel, crisp medium finish.

A beautiful, dark garnet color with a nose of cassis and juicy plum, this is a phenomenal medium bodied wine with a round texture across the palette. Pairs well with stewed lamb.

Big & brooding, very deep. I let decant for about 1.5 hrs, was still changing in the glass later in the evening, i have one more bottle let it lay down for a while yet. Felt thick and heavy with a med length finish, mineral and berry and hint of java.
For $20.00cdn good qpr

Nose is a bit muted but shows dark fruits and cedar. Taste is same dark fruits with prevalent sweet tannins. Great mouth feel, nice long finish. As this opened up it became a bit hotter on the finish that I didn't notice at first. Going to try to get some more of this $20 Languedoc.

Opaque, tannic wine. Over two nights it did not seem to open much despite several hours with the bottle open on the counter. I have not had this before so I have no idea if the tannins will integrate/soften with age. Good wine if you don't mind the tannins.

Nice dark garnet color. Unimpressive at first taste, but opened up very nicely over the next 30 min. Definitely will age well - good tannins. Good wine for $20 - will definitely pick up a few more bottles to age.

Massive garrigue, menthol, raw meat, red fruit on nose. Similar garrigue, tar, red fruit on crisp finish supported by sweet tannins.

Taste of dark fruit and spice and some barnyard. Decanted for an hour before serving. Wine opened up more and more over the course of the meal.
