  • Grand vin!

(complantation - dominante Riesling puis Pinot gris suivi des autres: pinot beurot, muscat, pinot noir)

  • Some Bottles from a Week in France; 4/14/2013-4/21/2013 (Paris, Northern Burgundy, Alsace): Full yellow. Rich, concentrated, VT level sweetness. Not that easy to pick out the individual varietals here, but the mouth feel has the lushness of Pinot Gris.

  • Decanted 20 min, served at 16°C. Golden hue, a bit more yellowish than the vintage would normaly show. Nose expressiv of gazoline, honey and lime, very smooth. Mouth semi sweat-to sweat with withe honey, citrus, ginger, not hyper complex at this stage, but round, fresh and velvety, with a perfect balance. Delightfull for all tasters, at the point that the bottle disapear very quickly. I know it is a blend of different grape type, but who knows wich ? I would guess a nose of riesling and a mouth of pinot gris... An exeptionnal wine.

  • Rich, complex and honeyed nose with marmalade, bright florals and citrus peel. The palate has incredible intensity to it, but it is never one-note, there are layers and real depth to the wine. It has some sweetness but it is integrated and seems like an essential part of the wine with the acidity coming through and driving into an especially long finish.

I was fortunate to taste the 2008 a few days later and it seemed more precise, but both were amazing in their own way.

  • A beautiful wine with the sort of acrobatic aromatics that attract me to Alsatian whites. If I had tasted this blind I would have called it a Gewurz. It has the enticing floral and exotic fruit notes I expect from a good Gewurz. There was a vast array or aromas and at one point I nearly drove myself mad trying to pin down a certain aroma that was very pronounced yet somehow elusive. Twirl. Sniff. Twirl. Sniff. I know this from somewhere--what on earth is it? Finally I got it--Black licorice!! A first for me in a white wine.

On the palate it is seamless--nothing disjointed, all in balance. You could taste this wine standing upside down, from any angle, and you still won't find a kink in it. Deceptively light and open, easy to drink, delicious.

  • Decanted about 1-1/2 hours, 2 recommended. Delightful aromas of elderflower and warm sunshine. Tastes rich with layers of honey, creamy, mouthwatering, floral with subtle fruit undertones a hint of mineral on the finish. Delicious and decadent!
