  • Excellent riesling. Reading the previous notes, it seems it was lacking a bit of age because this bottle was great! Everything you want in a riesling and more: honey, flowers, citrus,… and great acidity still which implies it will keep for many more years. Head and shoulders above the Pfister Engenberg 2005 drunk a couple of days later. A Grand Cru class! (Note to self: there is still something missing versus great German Rieslings and it might be that piercing acidity that works so well there)

  • 13,5% alcohol. Tasted blind.

Intense and concentrated yet also surprisingly youthful lime-green color. Very fruity and quite concentrated nose with bold aromas of peach, some greengage, a little bit of perfumed floral character, light red apple tones, a hint of honeyed richness and a touch of pear jam. The wine is full-bodied, intense and concentrated on the palate with focused flavors of steely minerality, some ripe peach, a little bit of honey and beeswax, light lemony citrus tones, a hint of floral apple blossom and a touch of greengage. The high acidity lends great sense of structure and precision to the wine. The finish is rich, concentrated and quite acid-driven with powerful, complex flavors of ripe lemony citrus fruits, some honeyed richness, a little bit of apple peel bitterness, light white peach tones and a hint of beeswax.

An exceptional GC Riesling with power and concentration that is typical of the style, but outstanding structure and focus to keep the big size of the wine well in check. The wine shows some developed waxiness and richness, but otherwise it is still remarkably youthful in style and most likely the wine will continue to develop for years more. Outstanding and highly recommended.

  • Very light in colour. Very firm, dry, precise with good citrus-acidity, minerals and hints of exotic sweetness at the end. Serious wine.

  • Dry, minerai, yet quite full-bodied and with some underlying richness; stil very fresh, no petrol notes whatsoever, still, I do not se this going on for many years, seems developed and smooth. #Weehawken St

  • Opulent and forward with a hint of residual sugar (although, in the context of a dry wine). Great concentration and ripeness. Serious, yet forthcoming. Very long and fragrant. This multi dimensional wine is ready now but will continue to develop for at least another 7 years.. Stunning with home-made choucoutre garni (with Alsatian liver dumplings)

  • Dinner in Normandale (Normandale, Lower Hutt, Wellington, New Zealand): Beautiful wine in early maturity. Round and lanolin in texture with gout de petrol alongside lime peel and rich bacon fat character. Well modulated with a soft and honied finish. Outstanding wine that is drinking beautifully at the moment.

  • Decanted for just over an hour before tasting. Pale straw colour with green tinge. On the nose; floral and mineral dominance with sweet orchard fruits lingering in the background. On the palate; yellow apples and grapefruit bitterness, good concentration and decent length. By all means serviceable, but one all important component is unfortunately lacking; acidity. A little more would have provided increased freshness and a sound structural framework – instead the wine comes across as a bit flat and flabby. A slightly disappointing effort from a top division competitor.

  • Ever so slightly corked, barely noticeable but enough to disturb the excellent nose and elegant feel that this wine usually possess.

  • En god vin, men ikke på samme nivå som 2007 Schafer-Frolich Felseneck og 2006 Prager Wachstum Bodenstein

  • A brilliant Alsace riesling, now beginning to show really well. Excellent nose and perfect mouthfeel with excellent balance of power and finesse. A quite large and almost full bodied riesling, but still it carries all these feeble and elegant touches of flowers and morning dew. Very long finish.
