A lovely balanced effort which is certainly still on the youngish side, but starts revealing integration and balance that comes with maturity. Lovely led pencil, red currant, saddle leather and deep fruit permeat the nose. The palate is integrated with a striking acidity and fruit as main components. Tannins are vocal, but still much more integrated compared to a few years ago. Overall impression is certainly positive. I see this wine ageing easily for another decade or more.

A lovely and certainly nice effort from Penley Estate, the 2007 Phoenix delivers an abundance of red mature fruits, gentle wood and secondary tones of subtle led pencil and spiciness. The palate is nicely integrated and adds to the overall experience in a very positive way. It is integrated but shows enough structure to deliver a true experience. With a vivid acidity and soft elegant tannins, this wine certainly delivers at its best tonight. A very nice effort!

Very nice and perfectly open for business, the 2007 Phoenix Cabernet displays an array of perfectly balanced red fruit, led pencil and integrated oak. The palate is full bodied with a very nice balanced between the different components. The acidity is quite forward and helps make this effort a very nice food companion. I am quite surprised by the youth this effort expresses and I am quite sure it will age well for another 5 to 10 years.

Earth, wet clay, dark fruit, pencil... This is a schoobook Cabernet, but very balanced with a very nice acidity and pleasant tannins. As I wrote in my last TN, this effort needs a few more years in the cellar to reveal its full potential and gain some signs of maturity.

Pleasant easy to drink effort revealing typical Cabernet Sauvignon characteristics: earth, wet clay, sandy tannins and red fruit. A little too much schoolbook, but on the other hand extremely balanced and integrated. My guess is a few more years in the cellar will not hurt but the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Phoenix certainly provides lots of pleasure today.

Had this after a bottle of Turley Old Vines Zinfandel 2007. Maybe a somewhat unfair, but the Phoenix still delivers earthy tones and subtle nice tannins. Quite ok even after a "fruit bomb" like Turley OV...

Touch more stemy green fruited-ness to it. Shows off where its from. Very well made at its price. Nicely done. Actually, exceptional at its price and needs just a hair of time in the cellar.
