The 2007 vintage is indeed drinking so beautifully right now - what a gorgeous, sexy, rewarding wine! Nose is full of roses, gentle thyme and sous bois - clean and lifting for your nose. Perfectly weighted on the palate, it's pillowy and almost weightless, yet satiny as well. Red and black berry immediately introduce themselves, and carry through in a voluptuous, round and expressive flavor profile. Finish is absolutely seamless in transition, long and tapering so gracefully. A wine in an absolutely perfect space for me, now, and one I wish I bought by the case so long ago...wonderful.

Nose open for bidness, palette still a bit shut down. This could just be the house style in a cooler year. Still an enjoyable drink, but a bit austere for a grand cru.

NR as I couldn't figure this one out... is it shut (strange for 2007 vintage at this time -- most of my '07 burgs are open and ready to play) is felt closed and only very slowly got better over our drinking window (7-9:30 pm, after decanting from 4-7 PM)... not sure about this one, but maybe the rare '07 which needs a ton of time in bottle?

Nose: The nose is wide open for business after about two hours of air with a dark, attractive side of sour red cherries, raspberries, earth, violets, peppery notes, spice, herbs, tobacco, cranberries, and pine forest. There is excellent depth as I keep going back to just smell this.
Taste: The feel is Medium bodied with refreshing, medium + acid and silky, medium tannins. The structure has peeled back and into something a bit mature as well as the feel with sour red cherries, raspberries, earth, cranberries, violets, peppery notes, herbs, and some tobacco.
Overall: I said almost ten years ago that I wanted to try this in ten years and here we are. I am certainly glad that I did try this right now as it’s just a sexy Clos Vougeot that is giving right now. It can certainly keep aging for a while longer, but it’s in a wonderful spot right now.

I found this pretty reserved and inward for the purportedly open 2007s. Perhaps the rule doesn't apply to GC. Good black cherry fruit with nice clay and spice lurking beneath. The palate had very good concentration and plenty going on, just not in harmony yet. Give this 5-10 years before trying it again.

Dinner at Margeaux Brasserie (Chicago, IL): The nose here shows a little bit of Vougeot in a slight hint of earthy funk, but this is a fairly dense example of a 2007 red Burgundy. There are swirls of brown spice within the red fruit here, giving the fruit a bit of a darker tone. The palate has some moderate tannins, but they're mostly yielding at this point.

Typical PN notes as strawberry and raspberry, some fir cone, very fullbodied, not very smooth, not the velvety I expected, It is not the elegant Burgundy as it could be, not a bad wine, but not a Grand Cru for me 89-90

Well, this was a mistake. First, way too young, Second, after 2 hours was singing and broke my heart I opened my only bottle. I can't remember all the nuances since in the first hour I thought rather, well, &*&#, once again showing my impatience and immaturity as a wine geek :-). Anyway, deserves a decant if you are drinking now but waiting will probably reward you more.

Medium ruby core, slightly brick rim. Interesting nose with mostly red fruit, baking spice, slightly sauvage. On the palate, high acidity and tight tannins, as expected. Needs time. Quite impressive for a vintage like 2007.

Christmas Eve 2012 wine, together with Guigal Condrieu. Cork was wet when opened, so I was afraid it might have been a goner. But it was ok. Started out somewhat closed, as expected. No decanter that night (don't ask) so we let it sit in glass for a few minutes. Outstanding cherry notes, tremendous balance, supple tannins, hint of tar. Medium finish. Deep purple color, velvety, rich looking. Somewhat reminiscent of a Vosne-Romanee we had a couple of years back. Dreamy wine.

Kevin Zraly and Jacques Lardiere tasting at Sherry-Lehmann June 14th, 2012; 6/14/2012-6/16/2012: (Kevin Zraly and Jacques Lardiere tasting) This had a much more closed nose than the 2009 or 2008. Very good balance with the flavors and tannins but with more acidity than the others. A very nice balanced long finish with good flavors on the mid-palate. This is shaping up nicely. Others liked it, but I thought it needed lots more time as well. Found it still a bit unbalanced and not ready for a wine of this breeding.

Intricate and complex nose of some fine black cherry, with some fine blue fruits, deep floral and plenty of depth and concentration, wrapped around high acidity. Some interwoven french oak influence. Complex and long finish. Medium plus but suave tannins. Beautiful wine that is just entering its teen years.

nose: tight, but expressive nose of earthen tones, brown spices, dark red cherries, dark raspberries, red fruits and some dark red florals. Excellent depth that one would expect from a grand cru and this shows its class very well
taste: medium/full bodied with medium/high acidity along with chewy tannins and deep tones of earth, brown spices, dark red cherries, red fruits and a touch of raspberries. Very well balanced on the palate though the acidity and tannins show off the youth
overall: this is definitely young, but was showing pretty well after about a 2 hour decant. This probably isn't a long term ager, but would be very nice in about 10 years

Broad palate of spice, dark fruit, tannin. Firm backbone. Even though it's a 2007, needs some more time to come around. Reasonable QPR.

Served on Singapore Airlines - no decant, and it really could use it. Tight and fresh with lovely fruit. Could use another year or two of bottle age.
