A very yummy vintage port. Beautiful nose. Dark ruby/black color. The whole milk weight on your tongue makes anticipation almost unbearable. Flavors of chocolate, leather, black currant and rose pedal.. An elegant balanced port. Lovely. It went great with dark chocolate and a Portuguese Nada (egg tart).

Not a formal note due to circumstances. Tasted at Taylor’s in Lisbon over about 15 minutes. All pours (1985, 1994, 2003, 2007, 2009) from Coravin stored bottles without knowing since when they’ve been open. As mentioned on occasion, my success with Coravin has been spotty. All tasted without anything to rinse palate (bread, water or otherwise). So these tasting notes may be way off from a properly decanted wine that has had the right amount of air.
Dark ruby black with slight purple reflections. Nose of dark fruit, violets, grapes. Ok, this has some of the youth I like from young port, but oh the tannin! (Taylor). Touch of blueberry. Esteva and eucalyptus - good balance. Back to it; quite pleasant also. Chocolate (dark) tannin long finish. Between two ages in a not as good way as the 2003, in the sense that it is still closed; doesn’t have the exuberance of youth or the mellow complexity of age. 91 with upward potential. Give it at least 4 years.
If I had to rank the 5 vintages in this tasting, by personal preference, not necessarily intrinsic qualities, it would look like this:
2003=2009>1994>2007>1985

I'm not much of an expert when it comes to port wine, nor do I drink it - although I do love Sauternes, to the extreme - But a friend of mine introduced me and I wanted to give it a go, with this producer.
- Tasted from half bottle (more than enough) - Consumed over 4 hours - Took out of the fridge after spending three days, then I left it open for 30 minutes. - Tasted with chocolate truffles
The nose: Very high alcohol (of course) comes right up. After that i have oak, prune, plum and blueberry. The finish ends with chocolate.
The palate: Spices and pepper at first. Then I've got the same fruity notes from the nose, I've oak, chocolate, brown sugar and caramel, raisin and figs. A little marzipan kind of finish.
The wine was great. There was a great sweetness to it, the different characters what delicious and I like that there's some other notes than "the usual" you've get from red and white wine etc. but of course the alcohol and acidity, was quite high.
Personally, I think that it would do good with a decant, just a few hours. AND I would not serve it too cold, but cellar temperature should do it. The wine will get more smooth.
Overall I'm a fan! But I can see through other notes here that this is too young now. I don't know myself, but due to a much needed decanting of this wine, maybe it is too young.
Excellent. Bought upon release and have been patiently waiting to try. This was from a 375M (I prefer buying this size for Port). Dark black and blue fruits. Nice balance. It was gone far too quickly. I think these are early in their drinking window. But very enjoyable now.
This wine is darkest crimson with a reticent but ultimately intense nose of blueberry, blackberry and dark plums with lavender and violet dark chocolate characters. On the palate is mouth filling with plenty of floral dark chocolate character balancing the dark fruits and there is great grip and drive. Overall it is more closed than the previous bottle and seemed to need several days after opening to show its best. There is plenty of structure and density so I feel there is plenty of evolution ahead.

Improved over the last few years. This has no cloying sweetness, it’s very open and resolved but retains a stiff backbone of tannin and has a dryness on the finish I find rare in vintage port.

Still young, obviously, but enjoyable with extended decanting. Best on the fourth day. Very rich, flavorful, dense fruit and other savory flavor notes.
It still has some rough tannic edges and the various elements haven't quite integrated yet, although this improved by Day 4. Not surprising given its youth. This should soften and integrate further with time and clearly has room for improvement.

Black core, dense. Ripe young fruit, smooth and a little earthy, plums and fruitcake spice, refined and brightly sweet and spicy. Medium weight, dense, flavour packed, youthful, tight, lots of tannins, ripe and strong, sugars mask them to an extent, dark fruit profile, tar and graphite complexity, a little sweet sherbet, good acidity, delicious.

Pnp, the aroma bursts out immediately. The nose is composed with dark fruits, raisins, flower, espresso, and blue berry. This full body wine is surprisingly elegant. The sweetness is really well-balanced with licorice, cassis, and chocolate. The lasting is fairly long. Great wine with sweet treats.

Still very dark, deep purple core with just a hint of red on the rim. Intense, dark spice and black currant with plums. Very fragrant with violets and ink, licorice and tar, but really very fruit dominated. Super-ripe but the spice and earthy components balance it. Blueberry and plum fruits dominate, some nice dark spicy tar and licorice flavours adding complexity. Medium to heavy weight texture, superb balance, super-refined tannins, amazing length. Too young but too delicious not to drink.

Gorgeous nose, with seemingly every baking spice in the pantry on display here, along with berry fruits and wonderful floral and minty aromas. Plenty of youthful fruit on the palate but nothing heavy or hot, and the tannins are fine, with the finish very long and elegant. Just a spectacular vintage port. And to think, it'll only get better.

Purchased by the glass after dinner. Impenetrable inky purple color. Aromas of blackberry, cassis and chocolate, along with lavender and violets. Full-bodied and primary as one would expect, but with loads of black fruit, chocolate, kirsch and vanilla as well. Tannins have a slightly chalky feel at this stage. Long finish dominated by vanilla and cassis flavors.

The wine was barely enjoyable right after popping the cork as well as after three hours and five hours in the decanter due to a massive wall of tannin. We drank the half-bottle after nine hours aeration in the decanter. The Port offered roses, dark berries, fig, cherry, black currant, minty eucalyptus, tooth paste, shoe polish, charcoal, some chocolate, spices, some liquorice, tea and a hint of tobacco on the nose. On the palate the wine showed dark fruits, blueberry, blackberry, chocolate, cane sugar, spices, tea, tobacco, hints of nuts, a mineral touch and palate-coating tannins. The Port was smooth despite the massive, firm but ripe tannins. It tasted medium dry and seemed dryer than the 1997 and 2000, and had very good length. A complex, long-lived Port. One can sense that it will be a killer once it opens up, but there is no point in opening it now and I won’t touch my other bottles for at least ten years. 92 points for the time being.

I was surprised at how smooth and nicely this was drinking. Beautiful dark fruit, plum, fig, the sweetness and spice blend together so well and the acidity leaves a long mouthwatering finish. I don't purchase much porto but after this 2007......it's on!!

Poured into two empty water bottles, then my buddy and I drank it all on the way back from the wine store. (Yeah, we knew what we were doing.) This is SO good right now! Cherry, dark fruits on the nose, palate of rich berries, spicy chocolate, luscious tannins. Long finish that stays spicy. This is a king wine from a monster vintage. 40, 50 years from now - HOOAAH! But right now, too.

Oh my god... These 2007's are going to be beautiful in ten years. Right now they are approachable but f**k me if I don't think 2007 will be the best Port vintage the last twenty years. Dark sweet perfume of boysenberry and blackberry hollowed by notes of sweet cherry and coffee this port even at four years is delicious....
The Fladgate Partnership Vintage Port Tasting (Vancouver Playhouse International Wine Festival): Deep purple/black colour moving to an almost pink hue at the rim. Massive nose of black cherry, crushed blackberries, spice with hints of acetone. Palate staining flavours similar to the nose. Palate tightening tannins and mouth-watering acidity. Although there is a ton of fruit and structure and some noticeable alcohol, this maintains decent balance. It’s rich and opulent in the mouth with a long finish that gives notes of black liquorice and lots of spice. I won’t attempt to predict when to start drinking this but it’s a long time from now and when this eventually hits peak, it will be an outstanding Port. Excellent. 91+

Retailer tasting, quick notes. Dark, inky purple in the glass. Dark berries coming through on the nose, more specifically blueberry and blackberry, as well as some rich stewed dark fruit and spice. Dense in the mouth, with tongue coating tannin, yet nicely balanced. Lots of spice, cassis, stewed plum, blueberry, and some floral notes. Long finish. Very good.

Plenty of youthful fruit on the palate but nothing heavy or hot, and the tannins are fine, with the finish very long and elegant. Just a spectacular vintage port. And to think, it'll only get better.

Drank over 4 days, most expressive on Day 4, especially on the palate. Fig, dried cherry, cocoa, candied violet, and sweet tobacco. Smooth palate with fine tannins. Very tasty. 94

Dark black red with purple rim; fresh dense dark berries, pronounced licorice, some smokiness; very elegant and fresh attack, lots of fruity dense and intense depth, lots of flavours, licorice, candy; absolutely delicious now; why wait 20-30 years?

I'm coming to realize that I really like the Taylor style, having tried a few vintages now. There's a rich, expansive range of expression - such a treat.

Right after popping there are some very forward sugary notes that seem to overwhelm but after about a half hour the wine starts to come into its own.

From 375ml purchased with the intent of infanticide. Blackberry, cassis, chocolate and violet notes. Firm, chalky tannins with flavors of blackberry liqueur, chocolate and raspberry. Long finish.

Let it decant for 8 hours. What a magical bottle of wine. Can't wait to see where it ends up.

Very good.

full bodied.

this was a .375 bottle, this size should drink well for say 5-10 years before closing down for a few decades.
best taylor fladgate since 1994 and or 1992.

2007 Ports at Beltramos: Intense, complex mid-palate, long finish. Some tasters picked up a little more overt alcohol, but I didn't notice that. One of the best of the vintage for me.

Port Tasting (Schaumburg Binny's): I was shocked at how approachable these '07s are right now. Nice dark purple color. Dark berries for days, sweet and massive on the palate, just mouth coating. I even get some nice floral notes along with some spice. Great port.

There are restrained floral black fruits on the nose - very restrained. I definitely get a sense of the Vargellas violets in there. Superb palate. Very pruney, but the fruit and structure is there in spades. Should be very classy.
