2007 Qta d Romaneira VP. Color is a light ruby red. Red currant, pine resin, protruding spirit, and anise. Light to moderate complexity with a spirity finish. A more delicate VP that appears to be maturing at a faster than anticipated rate. Not sure if in an awkward stage or not. Will have to revisit in due course. Right now, 89/100

Simple and ready to go, with tons of grape soda, dark fruit and a slight floral note. Decent for the $20 I paid 12 years ago, but nothing special. I will say that it did get better with air and was significantly better a few days later. Lacking in structure, acidity and tannin.

FTLOP 18th Anniversary; 11/17/2023-11/19/2023 (Seattle, Washington): Deep, dark purple garnet in color. The nose offers a mix of dusty fruit, with ripe blueberry, blackberry, and a touch of herbs. On the palate, it's like indulging in a blackberry cobbler, with a smooth and well-balanced character, showcasing good tannins. Lovely, long, jammy finish.

Sammamish Port Club - December 2019 (Sammamish, Washington): 7 hours decant. Dark purple in color. Purity of grape on the nose with some floral and dark fruit aromas. Young, primary fruit on the palate with boysenberry, black cherry, and black plum. Very well-balanced. There is a lot of dark fruit on the very long finish.

A nose of sweet dark fruit and spices, dark black in color. A full bodied port, with blackberry, black cherry, dark chocolate and spices on long finish. Still very young but good, will improve with age. www.winelx.com

Day one, I was not particularly impressed as there were medical flavors. Day 3 was a different story, the nose was more expressive with blackberry, plum and fig flavors. Less sweet than other ports. Probably consumed a few years too early. Update: day 5 even better. Significant sediment at end of bottle

High delicious factor here, relatively easy and open in just a few hours. Fig and a little orange, moderate sweetness, a balanced wine with good acidity...this is really well-priced, and strikes me as not a second-tier port, but a great vineyard with great potential, but where the vines are a little young and it needs to find its stride. Good and classy stuff that will age well for the next two decades.

Very smooth and almost creamy, this has chocolate, figs, sweet cherries, baking soda, honey, and toffee. It has a lovely sweetness with a great balance. I had to pour another glass.

Gained balance and complexity with air. Sweet cherry, boysenberry syrup and some citrus zest on the finish. Smooth, young and sweet. Interested to see how it develops.

Young. Loaded with syrupy boysenberry/blackberry flavors. Fine tannins and a nice long finish. Had that richness and heft on the palette that I associate with the few (very few) vintage ports I have had. This was open for nearly two weeks and the only real difference I can recall is the finish shortened and the alcohol seemed to show itself a little more as time went on. Nice effort for $25.

Dark, of course, but on the less viscous side for Port, the nose on the pop and pour shows restrained black fruit sauce and is fairly spirity. The palate begins very smooth and sweet, with concentrated blackberry sauce, like you would put on ice cream. It includes the solid acidity that excellent dessert sauces have. The mid-palate features smooth tannin that is quite restrained for such a young Port. The finish is well-balanced at first, with solid length, but there is a little bit of just slightly unpleasant bitterness creeping in at the very end. I would guess this bitterness will integrate with additional time in the bottle. This is far too young to have developed much in the way of secondary flavors, but the wine has poise and a certain amount of delicacy to go with the natural power of the Port blend. Overall, I like this quite a lot now, but suspect I'll like it a good deal more five to fifteen years from now, if I can keep it in storage that long. At $30 from WL, I'm happy with this purchase.

Woody aromas followed by raisin, dark currants, blackberries, vanilla and spice. Dense and concentrated no hard edges, long raisiny finish. Solid Port.

Delicious young Port! Super young, but it's actually showing well right now. If you like them fruity, then this is your number. It's on the drier side - which I prefer. Nice long finish and keeps you wanting more.

Soft, rich, corpulant port. Dark fruit and spice. Surprisingly easy to drink for such a youngster. No rough edges here, but I wonder about this lasting in the long term.

After a bunch of ruby reserve wines, it's refreshing to have the depth of a vintage port. Blackberry and plumb with some cherry liquor. You can feel the weighty dry extract on the palate and the structure frames the ripe fruit nicely. The structure is not tannic and mouth-drying - more refreshingly crisp and clean. Lovely port that can be drunk now for its youthful fruit or cellared for future, more intriguing enjoyment. Held up well on day 2 but on day 3 the stucture fell off significantly, becoming a bit too soft.

Enjoyable, but definitely not enough tannin. Needs more structure to keep it from jumbling together.
