Appearance: Bright and clear, the wine is of deep lemon colour, with narrow watery rims and legs. Nose: Clean, with pronounced intensity aromas of citrus fruit of lemon, green fruit of apple, minerality notes of saline and chalk, floral notes of peach blossom, dairy notes of butter and cream, oak notes of vanilla, maturity notes of truffle. The wine is developing. Palate: Dry with medium acidity, the wine has medium (+) alcohol, medium (+) body, with pronounced flavours of citrus fruit of lemon, green fruit of apple, dairy notes of cream, oak notes of vanilla, mineral notes of stony. The wine has a medium (+) finish. Conclusion: Very good quality Criots-Batard-Montrachet with an intense nose showing great complexity, with the citrus, floral and apple notes supplemented well with minerality and vanilla, buttery characters. The wine is well-balanced, with good body and vibrancy, also very strong concentration of flavours and a long finish. It is ready to drink now but can benefit from further ageing of another 3-5 years.

This started quite differently from the Raveneau, with a very creamy/oak nose and white flowers/chalk. It eventually "tightened" up, and yielded some scents of peach. On the palate, structured with quite a bit of tension. Long finish. This will undoubtedly be better with more cellar time...

Burgundy WIMPS, Complet table (La Trompette, London): Full straw. Half a forest on the nose. Plenty of vanilla and also a pinch of coconut. Rich and really quite full. Broad. All the subtlety of a sledgehammer. This is weight over style currently. Very dense. Not sure that this will ever integrate prior to oxidising. Hmmm. Well, not my thing, but *(**) maybe.

#DCInvasion (Chicago, IL): I'm a pretty big fan-boy of Henri Boillot's wines, but this one, while good, didn't quite do it for me. I found it to be a little thinner and empty on the midpalate, where it just didn't have the density that I would expect. On the other hand, the light sulphur elements were still there, as well as a good bit of tart yellow fruit that never gets in the way of anything else. In the sense that this was a very austere and structured chardonnay, this did well, but the lack of concentration was quite disappointing.

Very expressive nose of peach, pear, apple, brown sugar, and hints of menthol. Exotic fruit profile but leaner on the palate with citrus and lime. Good complexity and great length.

Drouhin Laroze, M. Ilan, old Sauternes & Ports (JV's): Golden in color. The nose has lemon cream, vanilla and a slight mushroom note. It starts out flat but picks up acidity thru the midpalate and finish. Nice tart grapefruits. There is some complexity as it unwinds. Nice clean finish.

Similar to last notes. Buttery, ripe-grape nose; round, ripe, full-flavored finish; acid balance softening.

Rich older Chardonnay nose; honey, butterscotch, stone fruit; mid-body, good acid structure; long ripe rich finish. w/seafood entree.
