Colour has lost the ruby glow of youth. Nose also shows some secondary elements - sous bois. Lively, fruity in the mouth. Not long but of some substance. Good and it's ready now.

Interesting nose of rich cherry, shredded tobacco, soft leather, and roses. Overall, a relatively simple Beaujolais but it offers a pleasant blend of new world brightness and tertiary old world flavors.

This wine really hit the spot last night. Lighter style/medium weight on the palate, cherry, earthiness/dirt/smoke, acidity - all in a good way. Very nice. And a very good pairing with chicken etoufee.

Finished this bottle tonight. What a beaujolais! See earlier notes. The fruit was still going strong after a few days in fridge. Just brought the last bit in the bottle to just below room temp with a bucket of warm water. Will buy a few more bottles of this.

Color is a consistent medium garnet and clear. A beautiful wine. Nose is a floral/strawberry though restrained. The palate is like a little a sour cherry meets strawberry. The acidity here is moderate and I could tell it would be great with food. No noticeable alcoholic heat and very drinkable. Light bodied but with a concentration of flavor and a deliciousness that is not there for me in most Beaujolais. Wine left a very big impression on me. It was great some grilled pork chops flavored with rosemary and lemon. Great with cheddar cheese. It would probably be good with many, many foods. I've not had more than a half-dozen Beaujolais that were not nouveau, but this is my favorite Beaujolais to date. Might just have turned me around to this appellation.

2008 Pierre Chermette, Beaujolais Rouge, (non filtré à la mise) 12 pabv; $18, Dorothy Lane Market, Springboro, Ohio, Weygant-Metzler, Unionville, PA, importer. 'Sustainably produced'. Not sure that this is an estate bottlling like others this house produces. Estate name is Dom. du Vissoux.
Cork-finished. Typical body, texture, and color (red with violet-pink overtones, transparent to center).
Tobacco and cherry leaf with wet stones in the nose, edged with a touch of blackcurrant. Reminds me of some old-style Graves wines except it comes on a bit more gently.
Impressive balance of fruit and Montmorency cherry tartness, with just a hint of fine tannin on a clean finish. As pleasant and gulpable as a good example should be, but without the overwhelming banana I'm used to in most negoce bottings.
One of the most interesting simple Beajolais wines I've ever tasted. A good value even at exhorbitant Ohio prices. I've ignored this producer for years, but that's to my own cost, as I can now see. Wonder what their upscale bottlings are like? I'm giving it an extra point just for uniqueness and not being one of the crowd.

The nose is a lovely ensemble of aromas, but very softly sung. The palate is deeper, more energetically voiced. All together, after a bit of air, ridiculously delicious. Might give another bottle a few months or more.

Afternoon Wines at Weygandt Wines (Weygandt Wines, Cleveland Park, Washington D.C.): Intriguing smoke, and minerals on the nose with blackberry and ripe cherry. Quite a juicy wine, medium bodied with a lingering finish of red fruit and hazelnuts.

Strawberry jam nose and strawberries all over the palate... light with few tannins, but very quaffable. (had just a taste at a tasting)
