Suprisingly deep gold in colour but was lighter at the bottom of the glass. The nose initially had the slightest sulphur rotten egg which blew off leaving some citrus. There wasn't much yeast or other bread dough on the nose leaving us with the impression that this certainly wasn't champagne. The palate came over as a deep rich white wine that happened to have lots of refreshing bubbles. It was packed with zesty citrus and nice minerality. Not the most complex sparkler, but it was a very good start to an enjoyable evening.

Somewhat dark yellow colour no doubt a results of age. Decent fizz with a nice but different flavour profile than I'm used to. Dominted by notes of Pain Grille, pear, and sweet apple. We enjoyed this.

Golden, very mature looking. A really honeyed, almost overdone Chenin character with a characteristic musty finish. Weighty and not totally held up by the carbonation and acidity; still, an enjoyable wine with all the class expected of Huët.

Dinner at La Cagouille in Paris. Light gold in color. Not much of a nose with bubbles only at the tip of the tongue on palate entry. Yeasty and lemony, this was somewhat a disappointment. 50+10+10+6+6 = 82

No notes taken, but really good aperitif - Vouvray often shows very fine complexity and this was no exception

Visit to Domaine Huet: Quite concentrated and complex nose.
A serious wine, slightly burnt notes.

Loire Trip (with stops in Beaujolais and the Cote Chalonnaise); 10/2/2008-10/5/2008: A mousseux, more gassy yet more finely textured than the 01 Petillant, and showing a good clean mix of quince, pear and mirabelle.

Winery: Darker gold, same vinification as petillant; lite nutty yeast notes, full, smooth bubble, good a’s, clean, long fin.
