Color, clear dark red; 1st nose, red fruits; 2nd nose, toasted oak and hibiscus. On the palate, smooth with balanced savory and fruits. Medium to long finish.

PnP… Purple dark burgundy with some bricking toward the edges. Dark fruit, blueberries, slight cocoa powder on the finish. Very nicely balanced. Fruit in check with tannin and acids… a bit more linear another as round and hot as some recent CdP. Drinking very well but can hold another 3-5.

Decided to double decant. Almost purplish black in color. Some lightening around the edges. Blackberries, blueberries, kirsch, shiitakes, and same bacon fat. Lots of dark fruits throughout. Fleshy and mouth coating, but with still being medium-bodied. Sweet tannins that have integrated, ending with a decent finish. This may have a few years yet but no need to wait, IMO.

Smooth, still very fruit-forward. I thought this vintage wouldn't age out much, but it's doing well and has several years left at peak. A lot of kirsch, not the most complex Sabon but tasty and easy to drink.

Tasted single blind Medium/dark garnet with very mild bricking. Medium aromas of red/black fruit with secondary herbal quality. Medium palate of ripe fruit, red/black. Medium(+) tannins and medium acidity. Somewhat innocuous compared to the others.

Medium dark garnet - appears unfiltered. Medium(+) aromas of sweet red and black fruit. Some dried herbs and raisination with no obvious oak. Palate of sweet fruit with medium tannins and medium acidity. Nice typical CdP.

Some Brett, potpourri, and herbal notes on the nose. Plum, dense black cherry, and other dark fruit on the palate. Fruit is fading and there is some nice garrigue lingering too. Nicely valve balanced with super fine tannins on the finish.

Poured this for my wine group, it was opened and allowed to sit, for over an hour before we tried it. Much bigger than we expected in a Grenache based wine (60%), more like a Northern Rhone, or even an Aussie Shiraz. Rich, full bodied, with a medium long finish.

Opens with whiffs of stink before blowing off. Herbs and crushed flowers form the bouquet, and swirl around with ripe red fruit, meat blood and a streak of refreshing orange peel on the voluptuous palate. Well-balanced and a great CdP qpr @ $30. Drinking well now.

Poured this for my wine group, at the end of a white wine tasting. This was the first wine we finished. Everyone loved it. Much bigger than we expected in a Grenache based wine (60%), more like a Northern Rhone, or even an Aussie Shiraz. Rich, full bodied, with a long finish.

Started off with pretty strong whiff of brett which moderated over the first half hour, gaining balance with wet leather, thick smoke, and a light undercurrent of blue and black berries. A nice crisp acidity carried by a full rich mouthfeel and a long finish. All-in-all, a great bottle and wish I had a couple more.

This is really nice. An inviting nose with savory ripe red leathery fruit, garrique, pepper and bacon fat. Finish is silky smooth with just a touch of welcoming grip. WTSO deal. Should have bought more.

Decanted 2hrs, consumed over 4. Great integration of fruit and oak, color spot on, opaque purple, med tannins and a med plus finish, simply terrific at this point with no signs of age. Paired with beef cheek stew.

Popped and poured a taste. Initially a little fat and flabby. Slow-ox for two hours and holy smokes...did that ever do the trick. Brambles, kirsch, garrigue, charcoal, spices...everything that I usually want in my CdP was in play. Great finish. This bottle was singing on this night and seems to me a tremendous effort in a vintage that is overlooked.

Not as great as some of the better vintages, but still quite good. More in the modern style of CdP, drinking very well right now. Should last 4-5 more years but I don't think it will improve much past the next two years.

Decanted 1 hr before serving. Not very memorable. Tasted like just a simple young grenache. Good fruit (although tending toward dried fruit flavors), but lacking much spice, earth, or other complexities. Expected more, and maybe it will come with time.

Dark ruby, with refreshing acidity and great clarity of flavors. Shows some brick color around the edge but tastes bright and energetic. Went beautifully with tomato pasta and veal, partly because it melded with the food rather than overwhelming it. Fine balance of fruit, acid, and tannin, finishing dry. Very enjoyable and drinkable now and for years more.

Deep ruby color with an aroma of cooked cherries. Very astringent after an hour of decanting, but opened beautifully after a double decant and a wait overnight. Thin to medium body with a big plum and redfruit flavor. Will decant for 4-6 hours next time, minimum.

Finding I like off years almost better with quality CdP producers. This one was no exception as it had dark cherry fruit that maintained some elegance while lacking the big ripeness and booziness of the hotter hyped vintages. Just enough earth and funk to give it character as well. Thoroughly enjoyable and better than expected. Drank well with PnP and this is ready to go and is not an ager.

P&P midway thru dinner as second CdP with w/dinner (pork tenderloin stuffed w/herbs de Provence,a touch of garlic powder, chopped toasted pine nuts and crumbled crisp bacon, then wrapped/tied with prosciutto, grill pan seared and finished in 275 oven to 120 degrees internal temp). Very pleasant, velvety smooth CdP which has a hint of forest floor/wet leaves/ barnyard, herbs (as in above preparation) on the nose and palate. Very similar to the CdP opened before dinner but a little bolder (perhaps because we didn't give it any open time before beginning to drink). Dark and red berries showing nicely on the nose and thru the medium long finish. Glad to have 3 left from my LB purchase in 11/09.

Minneapolis Wine Club: Double Blind BYOB Event (Shari's House, Mpls, MN): Dark red color. Drank 1 glass blind over 60 minutes. This was earthy and funky, black cherry, mild spices on the lovely nose. The palate is medium plus bodied and has earth, black cherry, pepper, dark mixed berries, smoky, firm medium grained tannins, and a long finish. I didn't get a lot of herbal quality from this but it was surprisingly good for 2008 -- Well done! My #2 and group #2 WOTN. 92+pts.

Drunk at Thanksgiving dinner in Singapore (and feeling it this morning). Decanted 5 hours prior. Beautiful leathery, red fruits and Provençal spice nose. Glass didn't do it justice, should have been served in a Burgundy glass. Perhaps a bit light on palate especially in comparison with the Colgin 08 Syrah(!). May have overdone it on the decant but I was concerned that we were drinking this way too young. Lovely balance and candied red fruit lingers on the finish. Will still improve.

Moderate body and duration. Predominating tastes include pepper, apricot, raspberry and a touch of clove. Tolerated being open but not really being decanted. Would pair well with any big bodied food. OF NOTE: My label did not look the same as the one the program presents for whatever reason.
