Light golden. There are many years of life ahead of this, even from warmer than textbook cellars. As always playing above its pedigree. Yellow and tropical fruits, flowers, long and greatly balanced. 5/12/16/9. -2035+ if perfectly stored since release

This kicked my butt. About as dry as I've had without the Trocken label. Unyielding, provoked an audible response. So tight, a laser on the palate. Taut, fruit is there but overshadowed by the acidity and structure. I was wrong on my earlier note, this has the structure to go a very long time. Was my last bottle, but curious to hear others' takes as this ages.

A little underwhelmed. Lovely nose and fresh palate but finish is a little bitter. Overall it just seems to lack something that makes it an interesting wine rather than a quaffer.

Perfect summer wine, great QPR. Alive, precise, refreshing. A great expression of QbA style and another example of why this basic Donnhoff should be a 'house' wine. Flavors toward granny smith apple, but the acidity is a main feature and really caries it towards a more saline place. This was drunk in a hurry. This could age further 3-5yrs.

This wine was less than $20?!. Another great Donnhoff. Despite being the entry level wine, it was a home run. Yellow/golden color. Aroma that jumped out of the glass with tropical fruits and long mineral components. I didn't get the petrol that others have noted, but that doesn't bother. Nice long finish. A little sweetness, but not as noticable as in many US riselings. A great deal. I hope people don't find out how good this wine is.

Aromas of citrus and stone fruit, with spice and mineral notes. Even though it's the "entry-level" bottling, still has that classic polished sense and poise of a Donnhoff. Sure it's not a Hermannshohle nor a Brucke, or not even a Kirschheck for that matter, but it is so well balanced with just a touch of RS and good acidity. Went well with so much of the food for a classic Thanksgiving dinner. I'm not into having "grand" wines for Thanksgiving -- I just want to have something that will work with all the different food that you make and this was wonderful with that.

Lovely. Not sweet in even a non-sweet Riesling sort of way. Bright tart apples and grapes. Clean on the palate, but not too dry or thin at all. Really nice with sushi.

Light color with only a bit of green apple and melon on the nose. Creamy and off-dry with white peach and lemon flavors. Medium acids and a tart, medium length finish. A nice pair for pork schnitzel and fair value for the money. Will try to stock up more.

Slight petrol nose, a bit sweeter than expected, but with enough acid to balance the sweetness. In fact the acid made it very food friendly, will buy again.

Pop and pour at 58 degrees. I really like this wine. If I was rating it on a deliciousness, it would be a 90-91. The nose is gentle petrol with hints of tangerine and lime. The acidity kicks in right away along with stone fruits and more high-toned, bright citrus. The wine finishes with a nice balance of acidity and sweetness.

One of the best Rieslings I have ever had. Smooth but acidic, interesting but not crazy. Plenty of red and white fruits on the nose and a superb sherbert, lemon, creamy, peachy finish that lasts for a long, long time. Excellent.

NobleRottersSydney - German night (Alio's, Surry Hills): AP 08 10 [11.5%, cork] {DavidC} Far and away the most laser-like of the night’s wines. A restrained and serious nose of steely slate. Pure as glass. The palate offers a little lemon fruit flavour, but sparkles with a high level of diamond-like - but not harsh - acidity. Tastes like crushed rocks, and the dryness of it is highlighted by the lip-smacking acidity, giving it a real chewiness. This is about texture, not flavour. An evenly balanced palate, believe it or not, with a medium-length finish. Really impressive. Quite drinkable now, although I’d love to see a bottle in five years.

Showed very big tonight with significant ripeness and some heat on the finish. I was surprised with the level of alcohol here compared to Rieslings from the Mosel. This definitely needs to be served cold to show its best. I prefer my Riesling to be lighter and sweeter.

Somehow this bottle did not taste as good as the previous one I had. This seemed to have lost its vibrancy (despite still slightly spritzy) and intensity. Perhaps an off bottle or not chilled well. Still enjoyable, just not what I expected.

This drinks way above its class for an entry Riesling at $20. The second this hits your mouth the elegance shines. Balanced and a bit assertive at this point demanding you take notice. Lingers for quite a while and leaves kind of like a one night stand with a married successful business woman who wakes up before you and is on the next flight home before youve had time to put on your white t shirt and kiss her goodbye on the cheek.

This is good but doesn't shine like the Oberhäuser Leistenberg Kabinett for instance, this feels somehow clumsy in comparison, too dry and full-bodied. A totally different style of course.

Pale. Bursting with lime and orange zest with a note of baby powder as well. Lean, dry, but still quite an impact with lots of soil on the finish. Really good basic Riesling (as it is most years).

No formal notes since I had this several nights ago, but it had a lovely nose of citrus fruit and crushed sea shells. Palate was pure if a bit simple, with a nice balanced mouthfeel. A nice solid riesling.

A lot of minerality. Some lemon and lime. Got some spritziness texture on the midpalate. It was a little sweeter than I expected, but no complaints about it. I think a little more time will do it well.

Straw yellow. A little floral, a little minerality on the nose. Bitter-sweet orange on the mid-palate with a firm acid structure but most importantly the acidity doesn't poke out. Quite spritzy when first popped. I love the wine's elegance yet with tongue-staining intensity. This is really a Kabinett in a QBA label in terms of power and balance. I would have preferred this to be a tad more dry though, and to let it age a couple more years.

11.0% alcohol. Pretty wine that's restrained at this point. On the drier side, with citrus and peach notes on the nose, supported by ample minerals. In the mouth, direct and refreshing, with sour apple and peach fruit, bright acidity, and a slate-mineral kick that's quite nice indeed. B+

Pale yellow in glass, light body. Nose of yellow apple, white flowers, lychee, and a hint of minerals. Dances like a butterfly on the tongue but very pure flavors of the same, along with ocean water and light minerals. Refreshing acidity, and the saline plus minerals carries this out to a longer finish than one would even expect. Donnhoff truly is a master at crafting wines that are light on the palate while showing remarkable concentration of flavors. One of the better rieslings I have had in quite some time.

Lime and passiofruit, trocken but lacking in minerals. 2008 is better value and drinking at present. The 09 might not have the ageing potential one mint hope for.
