This was a wow wine -- totally unexpected. With about 3 hour decant it opened up into an Elysian-lite. Yes, it was that good. Velvety texture with tons of complexity -- mint, chocolate, cigar ash, earth, cassis... Long finish. Really made you think about each sip. Sad it was the only bottle I had.

Monthly goup Holiday Tasting 2016 (I Nonni): Only slow O'd for about 3 hours. This wine was still relatively open to drink. Textbook Myriad and cocktail Napa cab. Perfume, spice, massive fruit, with enough acidity to make it drinkable.

I decanted 3 hours. This Myriad was very nice and an excellent QPR for $65.00. Great nose with a lot of dark fruit. It was very smooth on the palate. I think that it was still too young to open even with a 3 hour decant. I am not going to open another bottle for a few more years. It will age for many more years. I can see why Mike Smith is such a popular winemaker. You can't beat the quality of Napa Cab that you get for the price.

Starting to come around a bit. The tannic wall has receded a touch allowing the deep dark concentrated fruit to emerge. Really a nicely balanced bottle of Cab.

About as intense a wine as I've ever tasted. Bursting at the seems with concentrated black fruit, spice and fruitcake flavors that are a touch overbearing. The tannins are firm and chewy, and the fruit enormous, but there is no hiding the heat that creeps in on the finish. This is the first Myriad Cabernet I've experienced which provided limited enjoyment.

Pop and pour and followed over 4 hours.Vibrant, purple color. This has a slight medicinal note; a little bit like cherries that are over ripe and starting to turn. Big fruit blast, with some heat and showing some chemical notes. will re-cork and check in on this tomorrow.

I know there is a pretty big following of these wines and Mike Smith. Unfortunately we haven't shown him or these wines the respect they deserve. All of the Myraid wines drink very well young, but they are drinking great right now!! If they continue down this path for aging we may see several 100s on a 10 year revisit of the 08 vintage. This wine had it all, nose was rich dark fruit with touches of oak and mineral (big and bold). Expected a monster wine from the nose...incredible depth, dark mountain fruit, oak has completely integrated, but was taken aback by the elegant velvety tannins. Gentle yet bold. The finish never ended, or at least I didn't have the patience to find out. By far the best Spring Mountain wine I have ever tasted!!

Decanted three hours and consumed with grilled double cut pork chops. Brambly nose of dried red fruits and a hint of cocoa. Palate shows more of the same red mountain fruit that borders on over the top, but stops just short. Nice tension to to the fruit with more of a dusty type tannin structure than clamp down aggressive. Some vanilla oak notes show up on the finish, but nothing too extreme. Drinking surprisingly open right now, but did start to shut down a bit after being open for 5 hours or so.

Opened, poured into a decanter, then back into the bottle and let sit for about 4 hours. Then poured into the decanter about 1 hour before serving. Tasted with food (grilled steaks, if you're wondering, with a side of polenta and black eyed peas). Nice dusty aroma of chocolate and red fruits. The wine is rich and somewhat sweet. More chocolate and dried cherries in the mid-palate. Has a smooth finish. Touch of licorice and vanilla on the back end. 14.9% but shows no heat. Delicious.

WOTN among several other nice wines. Very well balanced, beautiful fruit, chocolate, cigar, long finish. Really enjoying the 08 Napa cabs I have purchased. For me they seem very well balanced and put together at this early stage.

Witholding a score on this as this is no where near ready to drink. Tasters that say this is ready now must be insane. A great nose of red fruit, spice and a sweet ripeness to it. I really enjoyed smelling this wine. In the mouth however this is just very very disjointed right now, a TON of oak that needs to be integrated. I think there is something special here but this needs a lot of time and is no where near ready. Hold for at the minimum a few years. My first experience with a Myriad cab and I can tell these have that it factor, I've enjoyed some of the Syrahs already and I'm looking forward to these Cabs to mature a bit.

Not quite as sweet as the George III but you can tell that the 2 wines come from Mike Smith, the intensity of the wine is promonant. The Floral notes are muted and the terroir is evident. This is probably the most traditional Cab of all of the Myriad 2008s.

Mark says he picks his grapes about a week later than everyone else. Eye opening ripeness in the nose. Sweet cherry, blackberry syrup, cassis, licorice and vanilla. Layers and layers of fruit in the mouth. Firm, mouth coating tannins with a long finish. Underpriced at $65.

08 Myriad Spring – Adds a little more black camphor to the similar taste of the Crane prior. Looking forward to a little weight build and age. A Realm BTK came to mind when I was tasting. 94 and rising.http://www.wineberserkers.com/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=7584

Drinking PERFECTLY right now. Level 1 Sommelier had it for the first time and was still discussing it 2 days later. Would give it 1-2 hours decanting.

VERY solid Spring Mountain cab. Third of 3 bottles on the evening, little decanting time - will give it at least an hour next time.

Winery Tastings, October 2010; 10/22/2010-10/25/2010 (Mt. Veeder, Oakville, Spring Mountain, St. Helena, Calistoga, Napa): Fantastic Spring Mountain wine. Takes all the red fruit and mountain structure, and just elevates it 5-10 steps. Drinking well now, this one I think could use some time in the bottle.
