This should be decanted for about an hour now. It took 3 hours in the glass to open up and gain the depth I recalled when tasting this at the winery. Very fruit forward with a tiny bit of polish. Overall, well made and in its prime drinking window. Fully resolved tannins. Although this isn’t my preferred style of wine, I highly enjoyed this with a dry aged 48 ounce prime porterhouse that I grilled and served rare with sweet potatoes. I don’t see this improving and best consumed within the next 2-3 years. Revisit 2025

Probably is probably the one and only time that I would agree with Wine Spectator's accessment, this a very good wine. It has gained some nice traction and nuance over the years, nearing the perfect spot.
In prior notes of Hewitt cabs I’ve said that they are better younger -> now revisiting that position after having this bottle. In a great spot, so smooth and lush with deep fruit flavors. Just a super enjoyable Napa cab.

This is the definition of Rutherford dust. I wish I had a case of this. Beautiful.... No....Gorgeous right now. Blackberry, cassis, smoke, leather and graphite all come together on an amazing palate. Long finish that's still moderately tannic but really gives enough structure to keep this going a whole lot longer. We'll see if my last makes it until 2025.

A very powerful wine, with dense fruit and substantial tannin. Noticeable alcohol detracts for me, but a very nice bottle. Probably better in a few years and should be a long term keeper.

Gorgeous nose on this. Luscious cassis and chocolate covered blackberry on the palate. Tannins are integrating nicely but can still go further. Good backbone. Shows just a little heat on the finish- but that may not really disappear during the peak drinking window. Beautiful and flavorful now. May get a little better. My bet is drink now-2023.

Still showing well. Nose of dark fruit (blackberry, cassis) and smoked bacon? definitely full bodied, smooth round feel in the mouth. Clean finish, low to no tannin. Still has another 2 years or so...though the fruit may begin to fade.

Where can I get more? I decanted this for and hour and drank over four hours side by side with a Vine Cliff Oakville estate cab. They both show their true colors, Rutheford vs. Oakville...the Hewitt needed less air, but the depth of this wine is amazing. Dark fruit, anise, a slight earthiness expected with Rutheford. Amazing.

Dark garnet in color. Nice nose. Decanted this 3 hours and drank over another hour and a half. It needed every minute to show its best. While this was not what I consider disjointed, I did not find it as balanced and seamless as it was when I drank it 2 1/2 years ago. Last time there was absolutely no harsh edges.I also do not remember having to decant this that long last time. The last half hour of drinking this it started to come together and kick out that Rutherford dust. While I enjoyed this I did not love it like the first bottle I had. Will let my last bottle lay in the cellar for a while.

Fruit forward. But somewhat restrained day one. Second day firing on all cylinders. Thought is was a pretty solid wine with cherry core. Floral overtones. More red fruit then black. Looking forward to next bottle. Maybe not the best QPR but I enjoyed it. Six years later its a pretty great wine imho

A nice, pretty and elegant wine. Not big and brooding like all the 2013 Cabs that I've been enjoying lately. I suppose I'm getting spoiled these days? A very good wine nonetheless. Slow ox overnight and showing just okay. Honestly, I expected more.

Seemed to be holding back a little. Lighter in color. Strawberries and raspberries are very dominant. The alcohol hurts the finish just enough you can get the full effect of this wine. Very nice though. Needs some more time to develop.

This is a luxurious rich, medium-plus bodied, Cabernet. Dark fruit, dark berries with acidity and grippy (not harsh) tannins. This 2010 vintage is showing nice balance and adequate extraction. In it's class this wine is quite lovely. 93 plus points.

I try to not let other reviews/tasting notes persuade my impressions, but this is one of the better Cabs I've had. I can't add anything that hasn't already been written, but I just wish I could find more to buy in my area. A solid 94 points for a beautiful wine.

Excellent Cab, but I'm getting spoiled. I have enjoyed too many heavy hitters here lately (Carter, Lewis, Myriad and the like) with big, concentrated voluptuous type - giving pleasure to the senses, good extraction Cabs lately. Can too much of a full figured, massive Cab wine be a bad thing? No! I have several more left and on its own, the 2010 Hewitt is a 92- 94 point wine. Outstanding, but 91.6 points for this bottle.

I last tasted -and wrote about- this wine exactly a year ago. It must be aging by dog years because it's showing up in a much more evolved and appealing way. It's fabulous. Impenetrably dense, smoky, seductive and inviting. Still has years to go. World class.

This wine, the #4 on Wine Spectators Top 100 of 2013, is ready to drink now. The first glass, poured upon opening, was outstanding and, if the other glasses on subsequent days had been as good, would have rated a 95 score. It was fully mature, well-integrated, with various berry flavors providing a richness and seamless finish. Subsequent glasses, one drunk several hours later and other next day, showed a wine in which the integration and flavor was rapidly disintegrating, rating an 88 score. There is no real aging potential on this wine. Drink now, with friends, so the bottle can be finished in one sitting - that will enable you and yours to enjoy this wine at its peak.

2014 New York Wine Experience Trip; 10/14/2014-10/21/2014 (New York City, NY): As is the case with its 2009 brethren, the 2010 Hewitt Cabernet delivers gorgeous ripe Napa fruit, but not at the expense of structure. This iteration flaunts a core of black currants, anise, bittersweet chocolate and allspice. Full-bodied, fresh and with big sweet tannins, it stays solid in the middle and shows no alcoholic heat. Finishing long and fairly smooth, it has no rough edges and accordingly represents nothing short of pure hedonism. Although it will have substantial longevity, this is a wine which is already enjoyable now. Drink now-2030.

Really amazing cabernet. I used the Coravin back in December and it was good and again in July but opened the bottle with proper decanting and it was more delish with the decanting. Full bodies, dark black ruby color and a fruity taste with tobacco and nice smooth finish. It had nice thick tannins and lots of richness.

Four hour decant. This is a young, but beautiful wine. Typical Rutheford AVA, dusty, intense dark fruit. Extremely well balanced between flavor, backbone, and intensity. Will wait another 4 years at least to open a bottle. Tasted non-blind in a 2010 CA cab/blend lineup. This was the #1 wine for the group. Caymus, Silver Oak Napa, Plumpjack, Lewis, Groth Reserve, Duckhorn Napa, Justin Isoceles, more.

I have a case of this wine and this is the second bottle of taste. It is getting better, this is my style. Big fruit, although I've had others Cali cabs that are even more fruity than this one. This 2010 Hewitt has big yet it displays elegant and balanced fruit. Full-bodied, big, dark berries, cassis and rich (call me Mr. fruit bomb if you wish). 92.6 points.

This was a nice wine. Didn't love it but it still moved me. Classic Hewitt red fruit notes with traces of cedar and baking spices. The finish was incredibly smooth for its youth.

A winner, strong 92 Points. Big, dark and full bodied (as I like), but not overwhelming. Ripe, dark fruit, dark berries and subtle dust. The palate is rich, but balanced and elegant. This wine is pricey, but very good. This is my first time trying Hewitt, and I have watched it over the years go up in price, from about a ½ to a full century in its price point. I guess that I should have tried it earlier on? Drinking very well now but perhaps, the best is yet to come with some age.

In the glass, the wine is dark ruby almost inky with an aromatic nose of blackberry and black currant. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with the same blackberry and black currant and more subtle notes of cedar, oak, Christmas spices and black olives. The wine has only a medium-length finish and is sufficiently integrated that I would drink it now rather than wait for it to improve in the cellar. An excellent wine, but lacking the complexity and tannic backbone of other and better Napa Cabs. At $100 per bottle, the wine has a so-so QPR.

Big, plush, and exuberant, yet still somehow restrained, this is an almost-truly-great Napa cab; it has too much of everything in just the right amount, and evolves in the glass with every sip. Can easily last for decade plus but good luck trying not to drink it tonight.

Decanted for about 30 minutes before drinking. A hint of acetone on the nose, but not unpleasant. Strong licorice taste. Slightly herbal, especially thyme, on the finish. Continued to evolve over the course of a few hours - chocolate and mint notes emerged. Really great wine.

Incredible wine that is accessible now (best to vigorously decant for a couple hours) and will get even better with cellaring. Complex, rich, smooth and balanced. If you open now, needs several hours of aggressive decanting for the flowers, rich dark red/black fruit and pencil lead to come out. When it does finally open up, the finish is very long with well integrated juicy velvety tannins.

Had this with friends last week, decanting it for about 30 minutes and it was delicious. Well integrated and balanced fruit leading to a very elegant wine. While I plan to drink my remaining bottles at a slow pace, this is a delicious bottle right now.

definitely full bodied, smooth round feel in the mouth.

Seemed to be holding back a little. Lighter in color. Strawberries and raspberries are very dominant. The alcohol hurts the finish just enough you can get the full effect of this wine. Very nice though. Needs some more time to develop.
