A blend of the famed Lewis Vineyard and Les Collines. Decanted and showing moderate sediment. This definitely needs to breathe still as it’s a little wound with a touch of VA initially. Once it unpacks the wine shows a host of aromas including super-ripe blueberry, strawberry preserves, and blackberry notes that weave in sandalwood, violets, leather, earth, ground espresso, spice and pepper with hints of sage, cedar forest and black olive. The palate remains intense and dense with firm, suave tannins, juicy high acidity, a dense mid-palate and warmth from the ABV rounds out the structure of this wine. Flavors follow suit from the nose and packed with super-ripe blueberries, blackberries and strawberries with violet over tones, lavender, sandalwood, leather, earth, espresso, herbs, spice and black olive. The finish is grippy and lingers on the palate.

Bllind Syrah (John's house): Splash decanted and served blind. The table consensus was this is not Australian. It was mostly peppery, spicy, with some blackberry liqueur and just the slightest bit of alcohol. I guessed K Vintners the Beautiful, wrong. A couple hours later, the wine tasted fake and super spoofy.

Blind Syrah From Anywhere (John's House, Mpls, MN): Very dark red plus with garnet hue. PNP, drank a glass single blind over 3 hours. Dark, brooding, sous bois and pepper nose. The palate is heavily spiced and peppery, bigger fruit, glycerin, some blue fruit later. I agree with galeskj's opinion. I had this as Washington and between the '15 K Vintners and the '09 Levitation, but guessed wrong. In retrospect I should have reversed them based on the ages.

OMG... this wine is in a magical point right now. Tasted last night with the winemaker and he suggested it might even be able to go another 2-3 years (I have 1 left). Deep color with a subtle nose that after 20 minutes turns completely around... superb flavors, strong WA fruit and excellent finish. I say if you still have 2 bottles, open it and have a treat!

Still going strong. Black fruit, gaminess and pepper. PnP, consumed over a couple of hours. Ready to rock when opened, it showed no signs of fading towards the end.

This wine is drinking fantastic right now. starts with the wonderful Les Colliines aromatics followed by great raspberry and cherry fruit with mineral and earthiness that light up your taste buds.

Nice spicy and smokey syrah. Seems like it is aged beyond it's years, slightly on the downhill side of life. Pepper, smoke, blackberry. Good stuff, but drink up!

A big and bold wine, initially tight, so I ran it through the Vinturi and all was good. Loaded with crushed berry and mocha, notes of leather and tar. Very well balanced and possesses a good amount of grip. Long finish.

Dark inky red core with cherry hues on the rim. Moderate plus viscosity and bright reflections showing moderate-plus concentration. Aromas after 2+hours decant are bold showing violet laced blackberry, boysenberry and plum. Brawny ancillary aromas of lavender, coffee bean, crushed rock, chocolate covered cherries and softer hints of white pepper, caramel and wood. The palate is bold but has an elegant touch with polished tannins and moderate acidity that keeps this wine in balance. Creamy mouthfeel with delicious favors of blueberry pie topped with vanilla ice cream, blackberries, lavender, wood, ganache and mineral. The finish is moderate in length and intensity.

Drank this after consuming a bottle of the 2008. This was not as good as the 08, but it was still very tasty with great dark fruit and the grilled bacon cheeseburger finish. Very nice balance.

opened and poured, very dark color, taste of plums and black berries, slight bitter aftertaste, long finish and good balance. Opened more the longer in the glass, so I would decant for a few hours before. A big syrah.

loved this wine. teeth staining tannins, massive black fruits, roasted meat, white pepper. could use a scooch more complexity on the finish, but solid and delicious. if scoring, 89-91.

Good dark Syrah color. Nose still developing but shows solid presence of fruit and possibly some stone? Wonderful taste across the mouth and great finish. It has been decanted for about 11 hours and is just fine. This is a kickass wine that is only going to get better with time.

40% new french; belnd of two vineyards lewis -- cool, bright red fruit and then one in Walla Walla, more rainfall up in the Blue mountains, adding the earth. The La Collie brings higher PH and earth.
Shows its wood, hmm...

Pacific Northwest Tasting Trip, Day 3; 4/4/2012-4/12/2012 (Portland, Or, Walla Walla, WA, Waitsburg, WA): Small taste at the winery with Trey.
Nose was really nice with blackberry, floral, spice.
Palate of blackberry, florals, spice, a little chalkiness as well.
Finish was long in length, medium mouthfeel, and great acidity.
Definately the most accessible of the upper tier lineup IMO.
