Decided to check in on a relatively young Barolo, and was not disappointed. This is starting to show nice secondary aromas, with forest floor, rose petals, cedar, along with bright red cherries and a sort of "musty" aspect which is appealing as well. Tannins are softening, and the wine offers good punch, with great acidic lift. Medium-long, pleasing finish. Really nice and should continue to drink well for another 10 years.

A lovely wine. Drank 3 bottles over Christmas. It must be drunk with food, preferably beef or lamb. Beautiful bouquet with long finish that lingers on the palate. Still some tannin, so further aging potential.

Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined), note from day 2. Nose: Light to medium expressiveness, cranberry, smoke, tar, and minerals. Palate: Medium bodied, raspberry and cranberry attack, medium acid, some tannic grip in the back-end with earth and minerals notes. Finish: Medium length dominated by tart red fruit and minerals. Solid, though not exciting.

Decanted for sediment and there was none. Color has the patina of some age. Full nose with some dark berry, vanilla, plum; a touch of funk to go with flavors of berry, cherry, and herbs. Still has a strong tannic grip. Drink up?

PnVnD let air for 2hrs. Purple garnet dense but not saturated with garnet to clear rim. Aromatically intense with plum tar cherry cardamon tar roses lavender and fennel. Medium weight with abundant ripe grippy tannin. Fresh and integrated with red fruits incense and vanilla on the palate. Lingering puckering red fruit and chai finish. Nicely integrated complex and fresh. Really coming into its own.

Red and light garnet, almost white thin rim; after 2 hours in decanter nose of tar and a bit of flowers, after another couple of hours – more fruits, some light cedar wood; second day – addition of cooked black fruits including prunes. Medium body Nicely integrated palate, good acidity, very fresh, nicely structured and food friendly; good entry level Barolo with great price/performance and at very good time slot, don’t think this will improve substantially.

This is pretty close to perfect right now. If someone's gotten more delight out of 20 bucks -- esp. one replete with leathery tertiary aromas on this level -- I wanna know about it.
Drank as accompaniment to Biba's mortadella-laced polpettone, a family favorite. Very happy to have one more.

Wow, still big and powerful on opening, with tons of aromatics (mostly cherry and tar/rubber) and a slightly bricked colour. Lots of tannin. Yet the flavour profile is slightly oxidized. Excellent pairing with lamb rack, and opened up nicely over a couple hours.

Maybe this needed a longer decant, but even after an hour in the glass is was neither aromatic nor flavorful. Just okay. At $20/btl, it's a decent QPR, but it's not a real Barolo.

Hardly a Sandrone/Scavino/Corino/Pira/pick-your-pleasure, but this drinks *way* above its price point. Tar and blackberries against a vague sense of a ferrous mineral base. Hints of floral notes I couldn't pin down. Medium tannins, already somewhat integrated -- but they gain in prominence a few hours in. This comes from a hyper-modern negociant that I was skeptical of when I visited the region -- figured it for one of the many carpetbaggers that descended upon the region in Barolo's Gold Rush era (and indeed, when you pass the place, it's the antithesis of the intimate, homey, old-school Piedmontese Barolo house). But, but, but: they source their grapes well, (Bussia and Annunziata among their sites), and the result is much better than I expected. Lots of life left in this.
We ate it with a slow-roasted pork shoulder, some polenta, and some sauteed carrots, and it was a great partner.
Uncorked for more than three hours before pouring. Delicate nose with a hint flowery aroma, smooth tannins, medium bodied. Level of acidity shows that it may have a long life ahead. Very enjoyable for the price. Bravo!

A year plus a few months has made a big difference with this wine...it's starting to integrate nicely. Dark berry fruit and some wood on the nose (WS says sandalwood...who am I to argue with them?). Tannins very present but not overwhelmingly so. Very nice now...will continue to get better I am sure.

Popped 1 hour before first pour, consumed over 3 hours. Nose: Medium expressiveness, typical Barolo nose of tar and roses with undertones of blue fruits and minerals. Palate: Medium bodied, dark red fruit and rusty earth attack, nice acidic back-bone, fruit dissipates thru the mid-palate leaving tartness and acidic bite dominating the back-end. While the back-end is challenging it doesn't ruin the experience - still a nice Barolo QPR for $23 per.

Tasty. Went through a bit of an awkward phase for a while, where the wine took on a lot of caramel character. After a solid 2-3 hours in the decanter, though, it's showing its stuff. Fruit, spices, flowers, etc. Nice.

decanted and poured shortly thereafter....pleasant,very accessible young, tannins are present, but not the scorching tannins of some young barolo. amply acidic. Frankly, if served blind, I would have thought this Italian due to acidity, but may not have identified it as nebbiolo. Good value. For my part, I think I'll see what some time laying down does to the remaining bottles.

The nose will catch you with fine notes of rose, smoke, clove, orange, strawberry, and mineral. These themes develop nicely in the palate, with some herb notes coming in, as well. The tannins are still strong, but the wine resolves nicely on a finish emphasizing purple fruit, rose, clove, and earth. While not amazing, this wine definitely delivers for the price point.

Decanted for four hours but it needed more. This is not a great Barolo, but does carry the tannic flavor for which it is known. Wait longer for the tannins to soften, but don't expect to be blown away.

Day 1: Decanted for 3 hours and then drank over the next 3 hours. Initially tasted young with floral, medicinal nose. Palate had some fruit with big, but manageable tannins. However, last glass or two was almost undrinkable because the tannins had complete overpowered the fruit. Saved the last glass for day 2.
Day 2: MUCH much better. Nose has opened up. Tannins have softened and fruit has come out. This wine needs several more years in the cellar or a 10+ hour decant.

For $20 this is a great Barolo buy and it is drinking well for one so young. On the other hand, this will never be a great Barolo. There is bright fruit and a pleasant nose. There is not much nuance and the fruit is a tad too sweet on th palate. Overall, a very pleasant experience, but not a seriously memorable one.

Just ok for me. Very nice nose, with flowers, red fruits and touches of earth and spice. Starts out nice and bright on the palate, but then just disappears. Watery mid, short finish, with a tea-like thing going on. I'm not an expert on aging Barolo, but I did not find this to be particularly tannic nor do I think the watery middle will improve with age. We drank it all, but I won't buy more.

PnD let air for six hours for the first bottle (splash decant the second). Really opened up with the decanting. Classic Barolo if a touch on the light side. Really benefits from decanting. Drinking well but a long life ahead. Will hold onto last few bottles as I have drank too many already.

Tried again as a friend brought on vacation in a pop and pour situation and this underperformed a bit. Two days later it was much improved with more compelling dark fruit, savory and spiced. If you got'em given it a 6 hour decant or so for full enjoyment.

Surprisingly drinkable for a relatively young Barolo, despite others comments. While typically light in color, the wine was flavorful, full of berry tones, but with subtler tones noted in some of the other reviews on the finish. A very nice wine at this price point.

Light brick in colour. On pop and pour aromas of blueberry and something nice and perfume-like, kind of flowery. Initial taste impression is that of surprisingly light berry flavours and a bit of cocoa also. Medium weight, very tannic, bracing acidity - needs some air. Finish just keeps going, very nice.
Should go well with the steak I'm about to cook. And 20 min later it's opened up even more, and it does go well with the steak. Win.

PnVnD let breathe for 6 hours. Nice black fruit fig and tar aromas as soon as poured into the decanter. Dark crimson purple. Aroma continues to develop with added earthy and spice notes with fruit dominant. Smooth medium weight but still has grip and refreshing acidity. Lovely black fruits with some dried fig and refreshing red fruit notes at the end. touch of tar and coffee add complexity. Delicious. Lots of life ahead. Needs food and a long decant to show best.

Night 1: Decanted for 2 hours- way too tannic to drink. Left it in the decanter overnight, then put it back in the bottle in the morning. Night 2: Saw improvement- some fruit evident. Decided to decant over night again. Poured back into the bottle in the morning. Night 3: After approximately 24 hours of decanting, this was a good bottle of wine with potential. I'm tempted to buy a couple of bottles and not touch for 5 years, particularly given the $20 price.

Similar tasting notes to last time. Still will evolve, but a solid wine. Seemed more coarse than the 03 Barolo we drank along side, but more powerful than the Nebbiolo D'Alba that followed. Overall, an amazing QPR for a Barolo of this quality.

Red fruit, black fruit, tar, mint/menthol and a little gamy. An 05 Barolo so it is as tannic and acidic as one would expect but this was offered at a Nebbiolo d'Alba price.

Decanted for 3 hours. Color is very dark, opaque purple. Nose gives off immediate whiff of tar, coffee, smoke, briar and dark fruits. Palate is medium bodied, with smoke, violets, licorice, briar, roses. Solid length on the finish. This wine drinks well now, but promises to age well. I don't know much about Barolo, but this is a fine introduction to the grape. Excellent QPR.

Light to the nose. Bold but a bit fruity. Good depth but finish was fairly short. Have had bigger Barolos

Tried again as a friend brought on vacation in a pop and pour situation and this underperformed a bit. Two days later it was much improved with more compelling dark fruit, savory and spiced. If you got'em given it a 6 hour decant or so for full enjoyment.

Great QPR. Decanted for two hours. Nice brown-red Barolo color. Good tannins on the finish, with some nice fruit on the nose and tongue.

Surprisingly drinkable for a relatively young Barolo, despite others comments. While typically light in color, the wine was flavorful, full of berry tones, but with subtler tones noted in some of the other reviews on the finish. A very nice wine at this price point.

Too young and tannic right now. Will wait several years to have my other bottles. Straight up the tannins were ferocious. With a little parmesan they were much better and with a roast of meat. But still, the tannins are too much right now

Not knowing Barolos definitely would not have guess this was a Barolo. Some acid, red fruits and spice. Don't know what to think about this wine. I liked, but nothing special.

Delicious! Starts off needing a bit of air, but decanting for a couple hours makes all the difference. Gamey, meaty, floral, delicious. Went very well with rack of lamb on the bbq.

PnVnD let air for 4hrs. Consistent with previous notes. Mellowing out very nicely. Benefits from time in the decanter and really sings with food.

PnVnD let air for 6hrs. Found it tighter and more acidic than previous bottles. Too sharp and was not even tamed by grilled rack of lamb. Will not try another bottel until the Fall.

I imagine this is what licking the inside of a bourbon cask would taste like. Wow, didn't expect this at all. Perhaps the wood will be more integrated with time but right now you can't get past it. Glad I only have 1 more bottle. Thought I was getting a steal from K&L but I was wrong.
