(Decanted for one hour) Deep red colour with a maturing nose showing sweet red berries, chocolate and perfume. Tannins starting to tone down a bit, opening up for more sweetness of morello cherries and with a nice balance on the lengthy finish. This has transformed beautifully over the last few years. Brownish color indicating maturity. Typical nebbiolo nose with roses, cedar and cherry kernels. Medium acidity for nebbiolo, velvety tannins and great structure. Not the concentration or “punch” you can get from other premium Barolos but a ver good wine. Drinks well now.

On the nose it's cherries, leather, pepper, oak and railwaytracks in the sun. Taste with a bit tart cherries that dominates and massive tannins that are just a bit more discrete day 2, more leather with influences from the stable and integrated oak. Somewhere in there I find the vannila from Dr Pepper... Good stuff!

Second and final bottle of this from my cellar. Decanted for a couple of hours (was a bit closed at opening). Nose shows roses and cherries, a touch of tar and more mature notes showing, with cedar and leather. Palate with cherries and some raspberries, roses and a bit of tar and sweet licorice. Lively fruit and still rather unresolved tannins. Good, long finish. Rather consistent with a bottle I had about a year ago. Delish mid-priced Barolo, in a good place, albeit too early to show it all.

Brief note @ a dinner. Decanted for approx. 2 hours. This showed much better and more developed than previous bottles I have had of this wine and vintage. Starting to come around nicely. Nose with cherries, leather, tar, roses, Gaja oak spices, touch of fine stable and some fine Piemonte acetone/glue. Palate is deep and shows fine Nebbiolo fruit, with cherries and raspberries, some dryer leather and earth, fine and towards integrated oak spices. Good towards resolved tannins, structure and length. This is ready to enjoy now, and so I did tonight. Still with room for improvement. (90 – 92)

Toronto Cru Monthly Tasting - July 2015 (Jay's Place - Toronto, On): I figured this would be a tad modern for my traditional palate, however hile dense and ripe there was charm to this young wine. Certainly potential for future improvement. It pours on the dark side for Nebbiolo with a nose that seems to just be coming around. Dark cherries, spice, tar and a light florality round out the moderately intense nose. The palate has the highest tannins of the night with moderate balancing acid. Solid young Barolo which I would peg middle of the road stylistically.

Bra mycket bättre än förra flaskan! Eken betydligt bättre integrerad men dock kännbar... Viol, rosor, örter i näsan och nedslipade tanniner i munnen. Lite.besviken dock pga Gaja men en juste barolo utan tvekan. Nu eller inom 5. Förväntar mig nog inte större förändringar då frukten börjat försvinna men eken består. Gott!

Rose and tar, spice and a hint of orange zest on the nose. I have little experience with this grape and this region, but the complexity and depth of the bouquet lives up to the reputation. On the palate it is almost immediately evident that the wine is still too young. The subtle flavours are complex, but still not at the forefront of the structure. Tannins still a little grippy, but still some nice acidity. I could see this evolving and becoming much more special over the next five years or more.

Drank for dons b/day. Decanted for 1.5 hrs but could have done with more time. Muted nose, clear, great fruit of cherries, tar and tannin. A wine to swirl in your mouth and preferably with food to get full impact and enjoy its considerable length. Needs more bottle time but quite approachable and really enjoyable now. Good value by Gaja standards.

Gorgerous Nebbiolo Fruit that just jumps right of the glass [poured from a decanter] it has Gaja on the label so you know its not going to be made without care it does have care in it that for sure it has from what I've tasted of 2005 that easy going early drinking approachability. Yes it could use some age to bring out more complexity but its tasty now can not complain

Very modern Barolo that is approachable at this relatively young age. Nose is understated with plumbs and cherries. Color is a bright Pinot-Esk red that is fairly transparent. Palate is cherries, tar and tobacco but done in a style that is refreshing/zesty. There is enough tanin for the wine to keep but not sure it gets much better fom hear. 5+12+16+8=91

Few notes, as drank at a family dinner. Recall the wine having not much nose. Limited and nicely integrated tannins, medium light body, nice balance. Interest but not much complexity. Very drinkable now, but not much againg potential as it does not have much "stuffing" (structure or backbone). Not a tannic or forceful Barolo. Rather, more elegance and finesse. Quite nice. Of course, it would be out shone by Gaja's other offerings once aged. Good QPR at $65.
