Friday Night Double Blind Semi-Mondo $80+ (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA): Dark semitranslucent core with maroon rim; meaty, hinting at a touch of VA, plum, sour, sweet cherry, kirsch, raspberry, tannins relent nicely, in a good spot, classic, balanced and still ageworthy; '10 Janasse VV Cdp?

Very pure, elegant dark red colour with a restrained nose but with some coaxing produced scents of iodine, blackberries, and strawberry rhubarb. The palate is very clean, pure with lots of glycerine but packing lots of tannins and structure for the long haul. Won't open another bottle for another 5-8 years as this needs time to settle and open up with time. 92+ for now. This will become something special with time.

Did not enjoy this as much as last bottle - but others in our group liked it a lot. For me it missed depth/subtlety. Interestingly the tannis are still very noticeable, so perhaps with more years under its belt it will soften and perhaps reveal more complexity.

Full bodied, rich, ripe, sweet, fresh, dense and packed to the gills with lushly textured, sweet fruits, jam, spice and herbs, this perfectly blends opulence with freshness and complexity.
Lush, plush, stylish and packed with ripe black raspberries, kirsch, fennel, earth, pepper and garrigue, the wine is quite forward as it is already delicious to drink now.

What a great nose: pepper, aniseed and plumb/fig. All in all lovely stuff and complicated. However the palette is pretty monolithic fruit early on. Got better later - 4 hours or so later, but still all about fruit. Certainly very good stuff, but is rather RP modern in style and a bit overrated in my view as a result. As a modern CNDP it is very good, but I prefer the old classic style from this RP driven option.

A quick stop by the Sampler (The Sampler, South Kensington): The color is clear and ruby. The nose is clean, showing med+ intensity, full red fruit character with a few black ones thrown in the basket as well, nice spicy notes with nutmeg more obvious and wood smoke in the overall youthful profile. The wine is dry, med+ body and intensity, alcohol med+, red cherry and berry, wood smoke and cinnamon, fine structure, multilayered, fresh and ripe in the same time, long finish, beautiful texture, juicy tannins. Outstanding quality, power and elegance

Another extravarganza at Søllerød Kro with T & AD (Søllerød Kro): Tasted vis-a-vis the 2010, this falls behind quite a bit; while still good wine on does detect hints of heat behind the very concentrated, juicy exterior. It has the obviousness of the vintage, somewhat surprising, as this cuvée more often than not is quite restrained.

Warmer and more easygoing than the 2010 Secret de Sabon, the voluptuous 2009 already gives up a heady bouquet of smoked meats, spices, mulberry and blackberry liqueur. With a great deal of inner sweetness and a sumptuous texture, but lacking some of the complexity and potential of the amazing 2010, this wine manages the vintage character very well. Didier Negron does not acidify his wines, so the freshness of this 2009 is even more impressive.

Very thick. Loads of florals and spices. Clearly fruity but hard for me to place. Not your usual CNDP.

Very disappointing. Flat and featureless, no verve.
