Popped & poured. Pretty gold/straw color. Reticent nose with slight aromas of white flowers and citrus. Medium body with good, fairly ripe fruit, as well as minerality and some nutty nuances. Solid acidic core and lots of citrus notes, particularly toward the back end. Long, pleasant finish. Very nice CM that successfully straddles the line between being representative of its terroir, yet a bit on the fleshy, modern side likely due to the vintage. I look forward to tasting this wine again in the not-to-distant future.

This wine was significantly different on the second day in a way that made no sense to me. It was initially nutty, with ripe fruit and good balance and acidity. The next day it was fresher, with floral, citrus and white fruit notes and minimal nuttiness. There was lively acidity and excellent balance.

First time I’ve tried this vineyard from PYCM. Clearly the product of a warmer vintage, this leans towards riper and concentrated flavours of white and yellow stone fruit, nuttiness, and some oaky toast rather than citrus and overt minerality. Nicely textured on the palate and while ripe, there’s enough acidity to give this good line and length. Reckon this is good to go now.

PYCM Chassagne Masterclass (Basement, 67 Pall Mall): Magnum. On the nose this is a slightly subdued version of the 14. Quite ripe and rounded on the palate, some of the floral, honeyed notes on the finish. There's power here, but just enough freshness on the finish. ****

golden straw tight nose first off medium body somewhat fleshy sweet orchard fruit balanced in the nice finish with tart citrus salinity; by the second glass some cinnamon? on the nose, tension arrives at the start now with citrus joining the stone fruits, no issues; lovely ***_****

Starts with a fair amount of SO2 on the nose, which needs a good amount of air to tame; quite a rich, luxuriant wine, deeply flavored, with decent acidity, maybe a hint of oak sweetness, beautiful saline/umami on the finish, which fades just a bit too quickly. Not really sure how this will develop, I'd be tempted to drink these 09s earlier rather than later.

Burgundy Dinner (Rock Pool Bar and Grill): Medium plus aromas of concentrated peach and stone fruit, lemon and ripe apple, spice, yoghurt and cheese and toasty notes. IN the mouth the wine has flavours of confected lemon over stone fruit, it is rich, concentrated and perfectly balanced though rather blowsy and big- a bit of a monster.

Shows the vintage - ripe, soft and a bit fat. Wood shows on this. Nice wine, but can't stand up to the 2007/2010 from this producer (or even the 2008s). A delicious wine, but not worth keeping around in the cellar.

Surprise Birthday Party (Q4): No formal notes. Shows the vintage--ripe and round. Decent acidity on the palate kept things from being flat, but overall not a big a fan of this.

Devin's Surprise Birthday Party (Q4 - Vancouver, BC): This is showing the ripeness of the vintage, exhibiting tons of spicy oak, coffee beans, ripe lemon rind, and a touch of flint. The oak and ripeness is a bit overwhelming, especially being served along side the crisp 08 PYCM Charmes. The charred oak carries through to the palate along with a sharp lemon backbone, some white flowers and saline, finishing with coffee beans and more spicy oak. Blair said it well - ripe, soft, and a bit flat. Not bad, but I just don't seem to enjoy the profile of this vintage for the whites. Good+

Ample minerality, honeysuckle, vanilla and lemon rind makes up the perfume. Medium bodied and soft in texture, the wine ends with a light, fresh, clean citrus finish.

The Wines of Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey (Beltramo's, Menlo Park): Much more laid back, classic and high toned than the 2 other '09 Chassagnes. Absolutely lovely juxtaposition of richness and real airiness. Leaner than the others. Uniquely spicy, a touch of herbs, great citric cut and acidity. Most complex and not at all marked by wood. This is gorgeous, and it is hard to imagine a more perfect Chassagne Premier Cru. Incredibly stylish for the vintage.

Some 2009 Burgundies.... (Artisan Cellar): Alcohol :: 13.5% Bottle breathed for 7hrs. While not as intense and deep as the Genevrieres, this display higher tone of chalk, mineral, melon, pear fruits and slightly colder tone: ginger, spices and almond. Fresh, crisp entry that rounder and creamier profile on the mid palate with sweet ripe yellow fruits. Excellent mid palate sappiness and complex mineral and purity. Touch of spicy infused on the long lingering finish with almond, orange peel after taste. Excellent 1er Cru from Chassagne.

More orchard than citrus fruit, a bit of farmyard and slightly reductive. Slightly funky, medium plus acid and citric tang. Good.

La Paulee Grant Tasting, San Francisco 2012; 2/25/2012-2/29/2012 (St Francis Hotel, San Francisco): Beautiful, medium depth, good mid-palate richness, strong finish. Excellent, particularly for the vintage.
