Case recently arrived ex chateau - 1st bottle. Initial opening, very acidic, and I was concerned that it wasn’t ready. However, with dinner after a 2.5 hour decant, the sharp acidity was controlled and the wine was really good with leather, damson and strawberry flavours. The tannins are there, but not intrusively so. There’s a reasonable length of around 20 secs and by the time we finished eating at 3 hours post opening it was drinking beautifully with great fruit flavours. It’s ready given the right preparation and has plenty of good years left. At the price I have just paid, £210 IB, it’s a bargain. Get some in.

I agree with the previous TN. I would add that it is good to go from opening, there’s a small amount of upfront acidity, light tannins, a mixture of light fruit flavours and very good length. Although I don’t normally drink Pinot noir/Nero, I think it’s good value, especially when an excellent restaurant in Venice serves it at Eur 42 a bottle.

  • 2019 Rocca di Frassinello Maremma Toscana Le Sughere

Almost PnP although it did develop and smooth out during a restaurant dinner over the next hour +. It’s made up of 50% Sangiovese, and 25% each cab sav and merlot. Initially it tasted soft and fleshy like a Merlot but as air time increased that brought out the more prominent fruit of the other grapes. Soft and likeable tannins with good length. It’s available by the case for around £21 and at that price it’s an absolute bargain. I think it should keep for a few years.
