  • Certainly still seemed in good shape, although I think perhaps better a few years ago given the wine didn't have a huge amount of energy. Very oily and opulent, with honey and lanolin, although not obviously sweet. Perhaps more of a vin de meditation than one to drink with food, despite Pinot Gris's reputation as being the Swiss army knife of the food matching world.

  • Golden color with a bouquet and flavor dominated by lychee nuts with wonderful acidity, and although dry, a somewhat sweet impression. Some telltale mustiness but not has much as usual for this wine. Very good balance and nuance with a fairly long finish. Very nice wine which went well with the exquisite food at Compton Place, a one-star Indian restaurant gem on our first night in San Francisco on our annual trip to that beautiful city and Sonoma-Napa.

  • Nice nose tonight, but the wine seems monolithically sweet. Hard to square with my previous note.

  • Lovely deep gold with long viscous legs, the nose opens up to reveal complex medium-plus aromas of lychees, pineapple, peach, apricot, fresh white flowers like gardenias, honey, and even a toasty buttery note. In the mouth, it has rich medium-plus body, and lipsmackingly high acidity, all making for a very satisfyingly complex mouthfeel. The palate is of peaches , apricots and mango leading into a characteristic finish of spiciness and a rich barley sugar. Between off-dry.and, medium sweet, the high acidity makes this a great food wine, and is in a delightful and elegant place at the moment . Drink now and enjoy but it should keep for a few more years.
