Nose is better than palate right now; nose is classic with mint, forest floor, tar, tobacco, dried cherry and roses; palate remains pretty structured and while drinkable with food it seems like the tannins could integrate further.

PnP at Asti with Matt. Tight and not giving very much until last sips. Very prominent licorice on the nose. Some cherry and rose. Decent balance but on the acidic side. Wait another 5 for remaining bottles.

Needed 2 hrs in the decanter to wake up and smooth out. Otherwise was rather harsh and angular. On the elegant side with dried fruits and tar notes. Still with rather firm tannins but there’s a roundness to the fruit that keep it enjoyable. Have to think this is in early maturity and unlikely to get significantly better. With the structure was better with food.

Corked half bottle. Damp cardboard, chemical, I’m pretty sure this was the real TCA deal. I was looking forward to this. 😭 Bartender broke the crumbly cork, only partially his fault I think. I’m so there a correlation between physically defective corks and TCA? I wonder. This isn’t my first coincidence.
