This pours medium garnet with medium bricking. The nose is sadly quite porty and borderline stewed from the get go and never really improved. Notes of prunes, dried cherries, and dates are married to vague hints of crushed rock and shrubby herbs. The palate shows stewed character with very low tannin and medium minus acid. This isn't the worst culprit I've had from CdP but it's enough to spoil the experience. I think the hot vintage sadly got the best of this more traditionally styled producer on this one.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $60+ (Alpharetta, GA): Orange core with sediment; rusty nose, root vegetables, mushroom, Grenache nose, slight bitter red fruit note, stinky, elegant, refined, sappy, almost Pignan-like but the stink made me call '95 Pegau.

After an hour decant came to life. Anise, leather, hoisin & iron. Super savory, but definitely over the hill. Lucky find in a closet!

Fairly ripe with a sweet dark cherry note. This was a big hit at the tasting.
