Cork broke in half as it was being pulled from the bottle but no loss in wine integrity; clear, translucent rim, dark ruby with slight brownish tinge; intoxicating nose (definitely a "wow" nose) right off the bat, deep fruit, dark chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg, cassis, slight trace of menthol; very rounded mouthfeel, well integrated and balanced tannins; medium + finish. This particular wine seems to be in the perfect place for consumption.
I really like what Mauritson does with the Rockpile vineyard. These are deep, brooding Zins that aren't overly jammy or alcoholic. Score may be slightly inflated due to such an incredible nose and the pleasure had in taking in the flavors from swirling the wine in the glass!

Good zinfandel that had mopre characteristics of syrah than it did of zin. Meat notes abound in this wine, in addition to a bit of smokiness, with some good fruit as well.

Dark ruby. Blackberry, blueberry and a hint of melon aroma. Blackberry, blueberry, plum and cassis flavors. Mouth coating jamminess with leather & mineral overtones for nice a long finish.

Good dark fruit, medium spice, a bit tannic still and a bit of heavy oak.
