At first whiff, I was worried that this was going to be a one dimensional fruit bomb as the nose smacked of lush blackberry, cassis and jam. It took about 90 minutes, but the nose did yield to the fruit revealing tobacco, tea, olives & violets. On the palette the wine was supple from the get go and clean in its delineation. Cassis & brambly blue & black berry leaning into black licorice and dark chocolate with near perfectly balanced hibiscus & cranberry acidity kicking in about midway to keep the wine from being cloying and then the silky, subtle perfectly integrated tannins kicking in around 3/4 of the way through to give the finish some length and depth. After about an hour, some black tea, olive and salt cured meat started to show through on the finish making the wine even better. Its evolution in the glass over the evening was subtle, and I imagine that the same would hold true in the cellar over the next 2-5 years.

Blueberry, blackberry, burnt ends, charcoal, slight green olive. Very nice wine.

Moderate tannin, balanced fruit flavors, enjoyable finish. Outstanding with our pot roast. Very nice.
